Alan Jackson Gets Into the Festival Business with New Event

No, Alan Jackson will not be performing. His sold out farewell show on June 27th at Nissan Stadium in Nashville is still scheduled to be his final official concert. But Alan Jackson is “presenting” a new festival down in Florida two weeks before his final show on June 12th and 13th in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Called “Alan Jackson’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere Fest,” it pairs some top mainstream names with some certified country legends, and gives it all a bit of an Southern latitude twist. Alan Jackson fans won’t need to be told that his song “5 O’Clock Somewhere” from 2003 was one of his bigger hits, and it happens to be that the video was filmed in West Palm Beach where Jackson also used to own a home.

“I’ve gotten to enjoy so many experiences at my concerts over the years,” says Jackson. “I’m not touring any more, but I like the idea of still being able to give people an opportunity to have a ‘Good Time’ and enjoy some great country music while they do.”

Headlining the festival will be Ella Langley, whose “Choosin’ Texas” is setting records left and right. She will be joined by (*cough*) Old Dominion, as well as Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band to expand on the beach theme. The event will happen at The Palm Beaches Waterfront Commons right on the water.

Other performers include Clint Black, John Anderson, Shenandoah, Rodney Atkins, (*cough*) Dylan Scott, Allen Stone, Jammy Buffet, with comedian Dusty Slay also appearing.

Alan Jackson’s long-time tour manager Nathan Baugh is also the CEO of concert promoter Peachtree Entertainment, who is the promoter behind the new festival. It seems like the festival is a way to keep Alan Jackson’s name alive in the live space, even if he’s not longer performing.

“At Peachtree, we focus on creating real, memorable experiences, and this one is special because it’s rooted in Alan’s story and a place he’s always loved,”
Nathan Baugh says. It appears their hope is this will be an annual event. And even if Alan doesn’t perform, perhaps he’ll at least appear.
