Country Artist Bryan Martin Removed From Stage Amid Drunken Performance

Average Joe’s-signed singer and songwriter Bryan Martin was detained on Friday, August 29th after attempting to perform at the Schaghticoke Fair in New York. After slurring through numerous songs, making an extended slurred speech, and personnel attempting to escort him off stage, Martin was ultimately forcibly removed by Sheriff’s office officials.
Bryan Martin is originally from Louisiana, and was known throughout independent and underground circles before signing to Average Joe’s, and releasing the hit “We Ride” in 2023. The song hit #3 on the Billboard Country Airplay charts, and helped make Martin a national name. Other major songs include “Memory To Drown” and “Everyone’s An Outlaw.”
In one video, Bryan Martin can seen ignoring someone attempting to get him off stage, saying, “Shut the f**k up and get out of my way,” before saying, “Everything that comes out of my song is real. This ain’t no f**king show. This ain’t something nobody can f**king pull a puppet string… make me do anything that they want me to do. This is real… They’ll probably cut me off… But I love y’all.”

In other snippets of videos, Martin can be heard admitting, “I’m a little drunk. I ain’t going to lie to you … I ain’t perfect. I’ve had a couple of bad nights, but tonight I’m a little drunk. I might have had an argument or two with a woman that’s supposed to love me.”
Further video showed police detaining Martin, and ultimately having to forcibly remove him. That video was recently removed.
The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office released a statement, saying,
“During the performance, Mr. Martin displayed signs of intoxication and erratic behavior, which ultimately required him to be removed from the stage. Deputies and event staff attempted to assist Mr. Martin offstage, but due to his impaired state, he became resistant and had to be forcibly escorted out. At first, what appeared to be an act of aggression understandably caused concern among fans and event organizers. However, in the hours following the incident, Mr. Martin acknowledged that he is struggling with alcoholism. This admission shifts the perspective from one of conflict to one of compassion.”
Bryan Martin released a statement himself, saying,
“Sorry I let yall down tonight… truth is I’m not ok… been hitting it hard for a while and haven’t took time to be honest with myself about my mental health and it’s nothing new to struggle with my anxiety and depression.. but I’ve had a weight on my heart lately that’s Been heavy and accumulating with time and I let myself and my fans down by not addressing them and getting help and pretending it was all gonna just go away.. feelings and this life ain’t ever gonna be something that gets easier..
“I miss my babies and my family and the man I’m set on being I’ve never had the courage to be.. but lately I’ve learned I let my fragile mind override my heart at times and tonight it got the best of me… I apologize for the bad days… but I’m grateful for the countless good nights we’ve shared this year.. it’s been the most consistent streak I’ve seen in years.. day one of another one starts today..
“Gods Got more in store and he’s restoring my strength as we speak… I’ll still be rocking but I think it’s times to slow down a lil and get back to writing songs and getting the help I need… I’m not ever proud when I reach for another drink… hope yall can find it in you to forgive me and hope I can be a better version of myself with some prayer and love.. and I appreciate yall believing in a broken old soul like me…”

Don’t approve of what he did on stage, but depression and anxiety should be taken more serious. People think depression is a joke, easy to over come, it is not , I know. I hope and pray that he gets the help that he needs, and can get things in his life, straightened out. Good luck to you.

His latest instagram post doesn’t show him to be 100% remorseful. And give me a break with the whole “God’s got more in store” and “mental health” (in this case) emotionally manipulative nonsense. That’s the kind of gaslighting people drop like a UNO reverse card when confronted with rightful criticism. God’s not using you buddy, Jack Daniels is.

Gotta admit – getting thrown out of your own gig is, in its way, impressive.

Alcohol waits patiently to attack at the most vulnerable moment..Seeking help is step one in recovery. Depression, anxiety and stress combined with booze are the formula for disaster..Been there 36 years ago.

What is it with country stars and upstate New York State fairs? I don’t know if this guy’s a star, but didn’t Tim McGraw and Ken Chesney get arrested for one of them riding off on a police officer’s horse at one of those fairs?

He’s got many examples in country music to look to if he’s ready to put the plug in the jug. it can be done, and life gets a whole lot better when you do.

Removed from your own show, that’s a new one on me.
Well, I hope he makes some changes and gets better soon.
People can only get help when they actually want it.

Not bad, but he still didn’t top Elle Kings drunken tirade on the Grand Ole Opry! Hey, at least he apologized, not sure Elle King ever did. Im assuming she’s banned from playing there.

Kind of ironic that the next post on the website is a review for an album titled ‘Ain’t in it for my Health’. I don’t know this musician, but other than him being combative and telling security to shut the f up, he seemed appreciative of his fans and had a good apology. Hopefully it was sincere and he works towards sobriety, or at least moderation if that’s something he can pull off. I quit nightly drinking exactly a year ago (after ending up in the ER after last year Scruggs Fest). I still have a drink here and there but I’ve got a couple other friends that have completely quit recently since they can’t do the moderation thing. Definitely proud of the people who know when it’s taking a toll and are able to walk away.

Sometime during the 00s, I saw UFO at a club. The singer, Phil Mogg, was obviously and blatantly really, really drunk. Between songs, he was babbling, and teetering around like he was about to fall over. Then they’d do a song, and it was like he flipped a switch. He didn’t miss a note, and sounded amazing. I don’t know how he did it, but it happened. So it can be done, but I guess it takes a lot of practice.

Judging from live recordings Blaze Foley was like that too.
