Jake Worthington Announces New Album “When I Write The Song”

It’s not just Zach Top helping to save country music in real time with a neotraditional sound. His partner in crime on tour and frequent duet partner Jake Worthington definitely has a hand in helping to revitalize the ’90s country sound, putting twang and top-shelf songs back into the modern country music diet. Worthington’s 2023 self-titled release was one worth listening to, and the subsequent singles have been lights out as well.
Signed to Big Loud’s Texas-based imprint, now Jake Worthington is preparing his sophomore album, and if what we’ve heard from it so far is any indication, it’s going to be a keeper. Called When I Write The Song, it will be released on September 12th. New killer Western swing song “My Home’s In Oklahoma” is out now (listen below).
“This record means to me … it’s a good reminder to fight the good fight. What I mean by that is I’m a strong believer in ‘Do what moves ya,’ make the kind of music that wrecks your world or picks up all the pieces.” Jake Worthington says. “If it makes you feel that kind of way, and that’s what you need, then don’t let anybody or anything change that. Nobody can make that decision for you.”

Along with featuring collaborations with Marty Stuart, Mae Estes, and Miranda Lambert, songwriters Will Banister, Dean Dillon, and Roger Springer make appearances in the track list. The album is produced by Chuck Ainlay, Jon Randall in parts, along with (*cough*) Joey Moi, who did a surprisingly good job on the first one.
“I’m proud to have been able to put a record together, and this is the second one. It’s just the second chapter in what I hope to be a really long book of albums that I get to make throughout the years, and what I leave to my family.”
When I Write The Song is now available for pre-save.

Man I love seeing Roger Springer’s name on so many tracks. He was Mark Chesnutt’s go to guy in the 90’s and on his last studio album.
