KHYI Announces Lineup for 29th Annual Texas Music Revolution

You say you want a revolution in country music? Well radio station 95.3 KHYI in Dallas has been waging one for many years now, forgoing the same tired pop country format that has infected the airwaves coast to coast to focus on Texas music, bluegrass, and and just about everything else that’s great.
Along with spinning good tunes, they’ve also been hosting the Texas Music Revolution for 29 years. 2025 will be no different, and they’ve put together a great lineup of both top Texas talent and national touring musicians who will be taking Texas Music Revolution’s three stages come June 6th and 7th. It’s all held in historic downtown McKinney, TX, about 30 miles north of Dallas.
Flatland Cavalry, Silverada, The Wilder Blue, Dawes, John Baumann, Bri Bagwell, Lola Kirk, Jamie Richards, Courtney Patton, Taylor Hunnicutt, Two Tons of Steel, Blaine Bailey, Jonathan Tyler & the Northern Lights, Angel White, Kelley Mickwee, and many more will be featured at the 2-day event.
It’s not a festival, it’s a revolution. It’s also a great opportunity to see some of the best bands in Texas and beyond all in one place. For tickets, CLICK HERE.

Whenever I open a post related to Texas/Reddirt Music Festivals, I hope to see Cooder Graw or Houston Marchman playing. If any of you are reading this, you have fans who want to hear you again!

I just saw Houston play in McKinney last month. Both he and Cooder Graw have played TMR many times.

I search whatever I can find without signing up for social media on HM a couple of times a year and never see anything. The DFW is too far to drive to see him play one set, but anywhere from Raton, NM to Laramie, Wy would work.
Another throwback I would love to see in person at a festival (or small set close to home) is the “Crazy Stupid Bitch” Panhandlers. I think they were out of OKC. They must be completely inactive because those guys out of Lubbock are using that for a band name now.

This station and concert has greatly evolved. Proud of what’s it’s become, but miss the early days at South Fork Ranch with the likes of any combination of Rusty Wier, Hayes carl, Brandon Jenkins, Chris Knight, Reckless Kelly, 1100 springs, Darryl Lee rush, Joe Ely, REK, RWH, Charlie Robison, Radney Foster and so many more over the years that I am leaving out, which could all find their way on the bill. Different time and place. Always reminded me of a condenses LJT (lineup wise). Let good music live on.

The lineup for this event, and the playlist of KHYI is basically indicative of what it was back then, and what it’s always been, just now highlighting the Texas artists of today. I don’t think it would be fair to expect it to remain frozen in time. Rusty Wier, Charlie Robison, and Brandon Jenkins are dead, 1100 Springs has disbanded, REK supposedly retired (and no, for good!) though it didn’t stick, and so on, and so forth. I’m sure all of these folks still receive spins, but Silverada and The Wilder Blue are excellent Texas music bands that deserve attention now.

Absolutely, no disrespect to this years lineup intended. Just a longtime supporter of KHYI and remembering some of the amazing compilations of lineups throughout the years!

Hey Jordan,
No worries at all. I just didn’t want someone to misunderstand what was going on here and think the station went through some dramatic format change or something. I appreciate you chiming in.

They should flip the order to have Dawes play before Silverada, big mistake.

Hey guys, I’m a few weeks late to this article. Thanks for sharing our news -and these comments have honestly warmed my heart. I’m honored to be on this journey with you. TMR has been a wild ride. I was 22 years old when we threw the first one. Crazy to think that it’s still a thing. Thank you (x 1000) for years of support. You all are what make this possible.
