It’s never been easy to pigeon-hole Parker McCollum, or summarize his music career or sound in a concise sentence. He’s a Texas artist with mainstream impact. He’s an independent-minded performer with commercial impact.

Riding the momentum of two Grammy wins, and ahead of an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Wednesday night (2-17), Chris Stapleton has announced a slew on new concert dates, and it appears some fans hoping to see him in a smaller venue before things get really crazy will have their opportunity, that is if the show hasn’t already sold out.

Aerosmith’s Joe Perry Slams Steven Tyler’s Country Career

steven-tyler-country

Steven Tyler deciding to “go country” recently is so achingly predictable and cliche, but unlike other aging rockers who switch to country to save a dwindling career, there’s still plenty of meat on the Aerosmith bones. The rock band could be touring the country and world right now and filling up arenas just fine, but instead they’re on a hiatus so frontman Steven Tyler can chase a lark.

The Media & Most Everyone Else Missed The Real “Target” of Taylor Swift’s Grammy Speech

The media loves a good feud story, but Taylor Swift’s speech wasn’t just meant for one person. Kanye West may have been the inspiration for Swift’s speech, but it wasn’t the target. The target was young women all across the world who are forced or coerced to having all their accomplishments measured by the men who also happened to be involved.

Though this is not necessarily reflected in the performances, the general consensus is the Grammy Awards this year could be a big night for country music. Vince Gill is the perfect model of how a country artist should age. Forget trying to run with the young crowd, or continuing to try and tap into whatever made you famous in the past. An artist like Vince Gill has accrued all the personal wealth he and his family will ever need. He’s as decorated with awards as any living country music artist, including a Hall of Fame induction.

The great internet purge of cool small-time music publishing enterprises continues. Couch by Couchwest is the latest victim, announcing earlier this week that it is calling it quits.
