Charley Crockett Announces Surprise Album “Visions of Dallas”

No rest for the wicked, and for one of the hardest working men in music. We had to know that Charley Crockett wouldn’t be done just releasing one album in 2024 when he’s been on a two-per-year clip for a while now.

Interview – The .357 String Band

A couple of weeks ago I got to see the .357 String Band live, and I also got to spend a good amount of time hanging out with them before and after the show. I was hoping to do a more formal interview, but long story short, it wasn’t in the cards. We did get […]

Pt. 2- Whitey Morgan & Rachel Brooke from Michigan

(This is the second article of two in the “REAL Music from Michigan” series) In some ways Michigan can’t win for losing. Yes the auto industry is shutting down, but they also get yoked for being “Yankees” when really a lot of Michigan and Michiganders have a lot more in common with Southerners and the […]

Pt. 1- Whitey Morgan – Honky Tonks & Cheap Motels

(This is the second guest article written by Cliff England, and part one of two in the “REAL country music from Michigan” series.) With the passing of Waylon Jennings, and so many country heroes, fans will be hard pressed to find some true outlaws nowadays, but I’ve come to find Michigan still has a few. […]

“Country” Warped Tour in the Works

When I think about a good way to personify pop country, I think of a pig; a big, bloated, lazy, garish and gluttonous pig laying around in its own filth and slops. And this pig recently had piglets, with swollen nipples dotting its underbelly. And fighting for a chance with the sweet, sweet nectar of […]

Wake Up! Shooter Jennings Has Gone Rock.

When I first asserted that Shooter Jennings was quitting country music, there were some that said good riddance, others saying “say it ain’t so,” some that outright disagreed with the premise that Shooter could do such a thing, and a few who were looking forward to this potentially new direction. There were also some hoping […]

Poodie Locke – Stories from the Road

Death has been busy lately in the world of country music. When Vern Gosdin passed away, I hated to admit that for all my country music geekness, I had never heard of the man. But I can’t say the same about Poodie Locke, who passed away last Wednesday (5-6-09). I knew exactly who he was, […]

Review – Wayne Hancock’s “Viper Of Melody”

The year is still pretty young and there are some big names slated to still release albums, but at this moment Wayne “The Train” Hancock’s Viper of Melody is my front runner for album of the year. As some of you might know every once in a while I try to clean up my act […]

Def Leppard Nominated / Performing at CMT Awards

When it was first announced that the 80’s British Invasion’s excuse for a hair band Def Leppard would be performing at the CMT Awards in June, my first question was, “You mean there is yet ANOTHER stinking awards show for mainstream country?” These awards show have me purging more than Taylor Swift the night before […]

Pin Up Girls & Hot Rods for Reinstate Hank

I’ve said it many times before, when it comes to the movements to put REAL country music back in it’s proper place in the world, we all do what we can. Some make videos. Some like me take their poison pen and try to jab it in the eye of pop country. Some just use […]

Album Info on “A Bitter Harvest”

When I first heard that Rachel Brooke and Lonesome Wyatt from Those Poor Bastards were teaming up on an album, I just about fell out of my chair. Though this pairing kind of came out of left field, it made complete and perfect sense to me, and this immediately became my most anticipated 2009 album […]
