The 2024 Country Music Christmas Playlist
![](https://savingcountrymusic.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/2024-country-christmas-playlist-1024x634.jpg)
There’s just something about sleigh bells and steel guitar that go great together, just like Christmas and country music.
The annual Saving Country Music Christmas Playlist is unique. It not only includes songs exclusively released this year, it favors original songs while making sure to also include new renditions of classic favorites. It’s also painstakingly curated to make sure it’s optimized for your Holiday party, Christmas road trip, or whatever else you might have in store this Holiday season.
Over the last few years, recording Christmas songs has become much more than just an annual tradition. It’s a great way for up-and-coming artists to get their name out there, and for listeners to discover someone new they might enjoy. The 2024 playlist is especially primed for this with lots of newcomers contributing songs.
The 2024 Saving Country Music Christmas Playlist is available on Spotify, YouTube, Amazon, and Apple Music. Find embedded players for your service below, and a list of all the songs in the playlist below that with listening notes. Then below that, you can find a list of the country and roots album and EP releases for 2024.
NOTE: If you think something is missing, please feel free to pipe up in the comments section. The playlist will be revised later in December as further songs are released.
Happy Holidays from Saving Country Music!

Based on its title and heavy metal origins, “Fairies Wear Boots” by Bob Wayne should win the award for weirdest holiday song of the year.
December 2, 2024 @ 9:57 am
I was scanning the list and immediately had to listen to that one. It’s getting added to my personal christmas music list today.
December 1, 2024 @ 10:39 am
Huge time saver. Thanks Trigger. A few suggestions when you update: Caitlyn Smith “What Christmas Can Do”; Joe Stamm “Christmas Spirits”; and Sheyna Gee “ Cry on Christmas.” Technically the last one is from 2023 but if it didn’t make last year’s playlist I’m asking for it now because Sheyna is just that good.
December 1, 2024 @ 11:56 am
Love Caitlyn Smith, and she’s actually released a few Christmas songs this year, but they’re all piano/ballad type stuff that just doesn’t really fit a country Christmas playlist. I tried.
Had forgotten about the Joe Stamm song. We’ll consider it for the 2nd draft.
December 1, 2024 @ 11:04 am
Thanks Trigger. Have you checked out Belle Franz “If We Make It Thru December”? So far she’s done all covers but voice is old school heartbreaker country
December 1, 2024 @ 12:03 pm
I did consider that song. But I come from the school that believe “If We Make It Through December” and “Hard Candy Christmas” are not actually country (edit: Christmas) songs. I know Belle Franz can sing country, but that particular rendition is pretty schmaltzy. It’s right for someone’s playlist, but I wasn’t sure it was right for this one.
December 1, 2024 @ 6:55 pm
Did you really mean to say that If We Make It and Hard Candy aren’t country songs? I’ve always thought both of them were solidly country, Haggard’s unquestionably so. What they aren’t, IMO, is CHRISTMAS songs, since neither refers to anything biblical or even religious other than the word “Christmas,” which is used more as a scene-setter than anything central to the songs’ messages.
December 1, 2024 @ 7:04 pm
No, I meant I do not consider them Christmas songs, just country songs that mention Christmas. Sorry.
December 2, 2024 @ 9:57 am
Have you listened this pop hit Jingle Bells thats all over the place? not a Christmas song by this definition. Hard Candy Christmas and IWMITD are on my essential country Christmas double CD from walmart, so I’m pretty sure that’s definitive.
December 1, 2024 @ 11:58 am
Thanks!
I love Christmas music and it seems like in the last couple of years, there have been less and less new albums. I especially enjoy new Christmas songs. Will enjoy exploring this list!!
December 1, 2024 @ 12:06 pm
The last two years have definitely been lighter for Christmas releases, especially albums. 2020-2022 was the peak, and I think this was because the pandemic gave artists more opportunities to record, while now they’re more out on the road. This also goes for albums overall. 2022 and 2023 were insanely loaded with album releases. 2024 has been surprisingly somewhat down when it comes to volume.
December 1, 2024 @ 12:13 pm
I’d be honored if you’d consider “Christmas All Alone” for your playlist! I’m 16-year-old TCMA Young Artist of the Year and Josie Award Nominee Ty Smith. I’ve had 4 Top 40 hits on Texas Country music charts this year. Thank you!
December 1, 2024 @ 12:22 pm
Thanks for piping up Ty. Your song will be considered for the revised version of the playlist going up later in the month.
December 1, 2024 @ 12:41 pm
That is one sad Christmas song Ty and so good. Checked out your album and man your stuff is fantastic and right in my lane – Texas country is the best country in my book. Best of luck on your career young man. Based on that album, it’s going to be a bright one.
December 1, 2024 @ 12:30 pm
Brooke Hatala just released a new song — “White Christmas On the Radio”. And I really like it!
December 1, 2024 @ 3:05 pm
He’s not on the playlist, but I just want to add that the classic sounding Christmas music that Brett Eldredge releases is very good, too.
December 1, 2024 @ 7:02 pm
I’ve been listening to Jon Pardi’s “400 Horsepower Sleigh” occasionally all year, even a few times in the middle of the summer. Just a fun song from a solid seasonal album. But that was Christmas 2023. I haven’t heard anything from this year’s mainstream crop that’s excited me, though I haven’t gotten to Eldredge yet.
December 1, 2024 @ 5:01 pm
Can’t make a country Christmas playlist without the Tractors’ Jingle My Bells!
December 5, 2024 @ 11:44 am
There are so many great songs on that album. I love Santa Claus Boogie!
December 8, 2024 @ 9:51 am
Steve Ripley never got the credit he deserved.
One of the few real originals we had the last 50 years.
The world would’ve been better with a few more Tractors around, and I’ll throw all the jellyrolls in the loo saying that.
December 1, 2024 @ 6:07 pm
Tyler Halverson – Christmas By Myself. Couldn’t see it in your 2023 playlist. Such a great song I can listen to it all year!
December 2, 2024 @ 4:00 pm
Welcome back,Michelle Wright, but how did Kevin Jonas (Sr.????????????????????????????????????????????????)make the list ? Oh,well,Happy Holidays,Trigger and my other fellow (and gal) contributors !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
December 3, 2024 @ 4:15 am
…”Gabby Barrett – “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” (*Arguably the best vocal Christmas performance in 2024)” – actually her whole new christmas album “carols and candlelight” is an acoustic delight, aside from “baby, it’s cold outside”, where her husband can’t quite match her in the vocals department. her rendition of dolly’s “a christmas to remember” is masterclass. on the whole, it is a mostly (too) conservative choice of classic titles, though. still, one of the best voices in country music for sure, miss barrett, and showing convincingly.
December 3, 2024 @ 4:44 am
I love Christmas music! This blog costs me money. I purchased a lot of these songs and now have a festive, funny, sad, heartfelt new playlist for 2024. My favorite song so far is Holly Jolly Heartbreak by Zoe Jean Fowler. It’s a Christmas waltz, and I can’t get enough of it. Also, I am enjoying the Gabby Barrett album. The comments also provide some good suggestions. I can’t wait to further explore these songs. Thanks, everyone!
December 4, 2024 @ 4:40 pm
Ernest Tubb – Blue Christmas
December 4, 2024 @ 5:00 pm
Eyebrow in the air …
Porky pig’s Blue Christmas.
If that’s not as country as bacon, i don’t know what is.
December 5, 2024 @ 11:46 am
Man, I love “Come Go With Us” by Blackberry Smoke. So much of that song, especially the chorus, reminds me so much of our family gatherings when I was growing up.
