This is BIG: Zach Top, Charley Crockett Land Rodeo Houston Slots
In Texas, there’s no bigger stage, and no bigger opportunity than performing during Rodeo Houston at NRG Stadium. It is THE premier event in all of Texas music. Though Rodeo Houston continues to invite mainstream characters such as Luke Bryan and Bailey Zimmerman to perform on what’s supposed to be a Texas and traditional country institution, you take whatever victories you can.
And in 2025, surging country music traditionalist and reigning Saving Country Music Artist of the Year Zach Top will be performing at Rodeo Houston, as will former SCM Artist of the Year and native Texan Charley Crockett. This has to be sweet validation for both of these performers, will give both their first opportunities to headline a stadium, and is further validation that traditional country is on the rise.
Zach Top will perform at Rodeo Houston on March 11th after performing just a few months ago just down the road from Houston at the Fort Bend County Fair for only $12 to the biggest audience the event has seen in decades. It might not be long before Zach Top is playing big arenas all on his own.
Charley Crockett’s Rodeo Houston opportunity comes on March 17th. A native of San Benito, TX, Charley has been one of the hardest working men in country music for the last many years, and can only claim a Rodeo Houston berth is well-earned and a long time coming.
Native Texans Parker McCollum and Cody Jinks will also be returning, while classic country performers Reba McEntire and Brooks & Dunn were also bequeathed performance spots.
Whether you choose to head to Houston to see them ride out to the stage in the center of the arena on horseback or just like cheering on worthy talent, it’s cool to see Zach Top and Charley Crockett receive this opportunity.
Tickets go on sale at rodeohouston.com/tickets on Thursday, Jan. 16 at at 10:00 a.m. for Zach Top, and at 2:00 p.m. for Charley Crockett.

So great to read. We discovered Charlie via SCM and we continue to think of him as ‘the best’ just like we think of George Strait as ‘the best’. We somehow discovered ZT a few years back when he was still living at his parents’ and doing weekly videos. We think of him as ‘an amazing musician’’. Thx SCM for all that you do to enlighten all of us.

From an interview with Moe Bandy, done before he entered the stage at the Calgary Rodeo in 2011;
Moe Bandy; Don’t forget to put your heart in your music. I love some of that new music, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes I feel that we’ve lost the soul of our music. We used to feel a song that we played. Nowadays they sometimes get lost in that mass producing thing where you just sit there and worry about marketing and all the technical stuff and forget your heart. Today they aim songs at a certain group of people while we went in and sang our songs wherever they ended up.
Good advise from a seasoned rodeo performer.

And now for the follow-up article or comments complaining about the lack of female artists at 2025 Rodeo Houston.

I think a strong case could be made that Megan Moroney or Ella Langley would have been much stronger picks for this lineup as opposed to Bailey Zimmerman, Warren Zeiders, and Old Dominion. 2 women out of 19 total performers definitively leaves something to be desired, but I do commend Rodeo Houston for at least acknowledging women, Texans, and traditionalists with this year’s lineup, and don’t feel the need to pick a battle with them this particular year. We’ll bank the wins for Zach and Charley.

All five singers are lackluster Nashville creations.
Crockett and Top are the real deal.

That’s a fact. Love Top, but no surprise he’s on the line up. Charley’s a Cinderella story though. I thought he hit his ceiling on hard times. Reminds me of Rocky or something, he won’t go down lol

Hey trigger, don’t know if anyone cares but my grandfather founded the Houston Rodeo in the 1950’s. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans used to stop by for cookouts when my mother was a little girl. Cheers
