American Aquarium’s BJ Barham to Hit Every Damn State in Lower 48 on Acoustic Tour

Nobody’s ever accused American Aquarium or its frontman BJ Barham of not working hard enough to achieve the dream. As one of the hardest touring outfits out there, they’ve earned every dedicated fan they have by sweating it out in clubs across the country, and putting every ounce of energy into the music. It’s doing music the hard way on purpose to keep it tied to the true themes in life, and relevant to those that try to put their cares away when they come out to a show.
American Aquarium recently went through a lineup change, but has assured everyone they’re not going anywhere despite rumors to the contrary, but part of the summer plans are for frontman BJ Barham to go on a whirlwind acoustic tour where he will play at least one show in every single one of the contiguous lower 48 of the United States, including the District of Columbia, and three shows in Texas. That’s 53 shows in 59 days. Better hope the vehicle doesn’t break down.
Starting in Charleston, WV on May 7th, and ending in Burlington, VT on July 7th, Barham will play solo sets in mostly acoustic listening rooms, featuring songs off of his recent solo album Rockingham, and other selections from American Aquarium’s 11-year run. This is one tour folks can’t complain ain’t coming to their part of the country.
Tickets for many of the venues are now on sale.

I’ve been lucky enough to see BJs solo shows at least 5 times. I’ll be jumping on that eddies attic show. I haven’t heard anything about AA breaking up, or line up changes tho. What did I miss?

Colin Dimeo and Ryan Johnson (guitarists) left in February and they have George Hage from Jack the Radio (I think) playing on their European tour right now. I don’t know who will be the permanent replacement(s) for Colin and Ryan.

That trip seems like such an unnecessary hell to subject yourself to

A little late in the game; my concert budget is in the red for the summer – turnpike troubadours, OCMS, Tom Petty, Cody Jinks, Chris Stapleton.

Got Jinks, Isbell, Sturgill, and Stapleton already. I’m hoping to catch BJ too, but I’m not sure if the date works for me. I might get stuck selling my Stapleton tickets to because of a potential vacation.

Lazy-ass…why no Hawaii and Alaska? Too tired after 48 measly states? 😀

It’s a heck of a drive to Hawaii.

He’s missing out.

Hitting Jinks & Turnpike Troubadours on back to back weekends in April and then have to be in Savannah for work the week he’s at Eddie’s Attic. But I gotta work to the things I love.
I live in Georgia but grew up in North Carolina. His music from “Rockingham” feels like home to me. Stinks that I cant catch him this time though.. Hoping that he releases a live EP from these shows through.

if you’re going to do that you might as well do Hawaii and Alaska too.
