Big Whitey Morgan Summer Tour Kicking Off
After spending years playing over 200 shows annually and pounding the pavement harder than most any band or artist, Whitey Morgan and the 78’s have been taking some well-deserved time off from the road to rest up, and to write and record some new songs for an upcoming album. Whitey has also been spending some extra time at home after the birth of his son.
But now it’s finally time to get back after it, and Whitey and the boys will be embarking on a 24-date nationwide tour starting Thursday, June 8th in Wisconsin, rounding through the Midwest, interior West, the Carolinas and Deep South, and eventually into Texas.
Along the way he will also play some high profile appearances, including headlining Friday night at the Tumbleweed Festival just outside of Kansas City, MO in late July, with regular touring buddies Cody Jinks, Ward Davis, along with Jamey Johnson, Billy Joe Shaver, and a host of other cool names from the authentic country realm playing over the weekend.
Then on September 3rd Whitey will be at Billy Bob’s Texas in Ft. Worth for the always eclectic lineup of the Burning Bubba Festival. This year it’s being headlined by Social Distortion, with Whitey, the Quaker City Nighthawks, Jesse Dayton, and Jade Jackson filling out the lineup.
See the full list of Whitey Morgan tour dates below, and keep your eyes peeled for information on an new album that may be on the way.

Love Whitey, there is no one out there that is more outlaw country than this guy, especially live.

Got tickets to see him in Sioux city.

I’m glad I saw him in L.A. when he came to California last year with Cody Jinks. Worth the long drive from my neck of the woods…cactuses. Those fellas really know how to rock and their instruments just sounded amazing. Great modern outlaw country. Hope they come back soon. Ideally not in downtown Los Angeles. Hate that place.

Slightly off topic but for you folks in neighboring Jackson, Mississippi, how does Duling Hall keep getting all these great country shows? It looks like a nice but small venue and must be somewhat new, as I don’t recall it being there when I was there in the 80s.

Riding down for tonight’s show.
Maybe he’ll debut some new music.

Please tell, he played bourbon in the blues in des moine a couple months ago.
June 9, 2017 @ 12:10 pm
Decent show for tour opener.
Several folks met and drank w the band at a local pub prior.
He played one new song, said he wrote it 20 years ago then went to say he knows how much we hate new music…not!

Whitey is opening for Chris Janson at Tailgate ‘n Tallboys in Peoria. The next night, Whiskey Myers and Cody Jinks are performing with the headliner still TBA. I really wish Whitey, Whiskey and Cody were all on the same night and Janson could have been left out.
Saturday, July 8 is going to be the day to go to Tailgate ‘N Tallboys. Cody Canada, Nikki Lane, Chris Knight, Old 97s, Lucero, and Turnpike Troubadours all on the same day.

Social Distortion is closer to country than anything you’ll find on the radio these days. Wish I could make Burning Bubba.
