Billy Strings Adds Dates to 2024 Arena Tour

They’re putting Billy Strings in arenas, and he’s still selling them out. Nothing seems to stop the insatiable appetite for Billy Strings live, and if you’ve seen him live yourself, you know why. Right now he’s the apex predator of both the bluegrass and jam band world. This may make for an interesting mix of patrons, but when Strings take the stage, it’s musical communion for everyone.
Billy Strings has already sold out all but two of the dates he previously had on the calendar for 2024. Now he’s loaded up the calendar with dates stretching into May. These dates WILL sell out as well, so if you have any desire to go, make sure you’re on top of it.
To go along with his headlining arena dates, Billy Strings is also scheduled to play at the massive Buckeye Country Superfest on June 22nd and 23rd at the Ohio Stadium. He’s also returning to Under The Big Sky Fest in Whitefish, Montana, which will be one of the few opportunities to see Strings in a field as opposed to an arena or stadium in 2024.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 am local time for all new dates. Strings has also opened up in-person box office sales at the venues that allow them for folks who don’t want to fight for tickets online.

He has done a run of Red Rocks shows in May the last couple years, which has a capacity of about 9,000. He’s doing Fiddler’s Green which is double the capacity this year and the presale sold out in minutes. I was able to grab four 2-day passes but a few friends all got shut out. The general sale is tomorrow. Between a friend and I, we also have six 3-day passes for Asheville, but a few more friends asking for them, so still trying to figure that out. That’ll be my two runs for the year. My wife said we’re obsessed, but she doesn’t know how crazy some folks get. Two locations for 5 shows isn’t too crazy for the year (I think). Definitely worth it if you can get tickets at face value. The secondary market is nuts.

Billy Strings ain’t nothin but the truth! Pretty soon his 4/20 weekend St. Augustine shows will be legendary.
I would like to make a quick observation, all the artists we love are finally making regular stops in Florida. It seemed like there was a stretch pre COVID when rarely anyone came. Maybe Stapleton every other year or Cody Jinks. But now the floodgates have opened and more people are doing shows here than you can keep up with. Mike and the Moonpies alone played here six or seven times in ‘23.

There’s been a lot of work by a lot of people over the last few years to get folks to travel down the peninsula, from grassroots fans to full-scale promoters. It’s finally paying off.

I’ve seen him in Chicago for a suggested $10 donation at the Taste of Randolph, sold out Concord Music Hall, sold out Aragon Ballroom, sold out Metro, sold out Northerly Island. This is the first time I decided to not go after tickets. Good for him for geting to a level where he can sellout arenas, but the experience of seeing him at all those superior venues and now go to awful Allstate Arena in the burbs is disappointing

Yup he a big Rockstar now. Talk to him for 5 minutes and you will see how humble the man is.

a while ago some commenter here posted a video in which Strings is talking about still taking guitar lessons because he feels he’s not enough skilled to be a profy musician. That made me feel real bad for my guitar level.

So I’m just ‘some commenter’? Haha. I don’t know if that’s how I summarized the video, but I’d say he was taking lessons more to understand theory and be able to communicate with other musicians with theory lingo. He can play whatever he wants, but theory does open up the fretboard to new ideas when playing and Billy was talking about that. I watched the Rick Beato & Bela Fleck interview that was recently posted on YouTube as well, and I thought Bela was correct when he said you can get to different places when jamming and when composing. It’ll be interesting to see what Billy comes up with as he continues his lessons and works that stuff into his playing.

I need to see Billy Strings at an outdoor venue. Every time he comes around it’s in an arena. I want to light one up (or eat an edible) and lay in some grass for a 20 minute version Meet Me at the Creek.

I chose the lawn area for Fiddler’s and am looking forward to hopefully having some space. Fingers crossed for the weather though. His Friday show at Red Rocks was unbearable last year due to freezing rain and it’s the same time of year.
