Billy Strings Adds More Dates to Already Sold-Out Spring Tour

Look alive, and get ready for this Friday, January 7th at 10 a.m. CT, because that’s when a slew of new Billy Strings dates go on sale, and it’s not a question of if they will sell out, but how fast. We can confirm this since every single venue Strings played in the Fall/Winter of 2021 sold out, and so has most every venue so far for the previously-announced dates coming up for February through March.
The newest dates (below in bold) begin on the West Coast in April, and include multiple notable venues, including a three night stint at The Ryman Auditorium from May 6 to 8—Billy’s first residency at the Country Music Mother Church. Most of the venues he plays tend to be residencies at this point, because that’s about the only way to satisfy demand without sticking him into an arena, which might happen sooner than later, so see him in smaller venues when you can.
Don’t be surprised if some of the single dates get doubled or tripled up as sell outs are announced moving forward. The new dates also affirm that Billy Strings is uninterested in resting on his laurels. He’s been one of the most active artists throughout the last couple of years, including live streams during the pandemic.
There is no other way to put it: Billy Strings is a modern music marvel and phenomenon who will go on to define this generation in bluegrass and roots music, while future generations will look back upon us with envy that we got to see his rise, his heyday, and when he was in his prime. There is nothing else out there like Billy Strings in country and Americana, and any and all opportunities you get to see him live should be exploited.
Strings is also up for two Grammy Awards, which are coming up soon. He’s up for Best Bluegrass Album for Renewal, and Best American Roots Performance for “Love and Regret.” His last album Home won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album last year.

I’m happy for the guy but I just can’t get into him. He plays good but I just don’t see the fascination. But thats ok.

Check out his performances with Marcus King.

So what is your point. You could have said that without replying to me. I didn’t call out anybody that likes him. I basically just said I didn’t like his singing or style since I said the playing was fine. My point basically being that someone who seems to be getting a lot of high acclaim, I will find something that sticks out regardless of whether I’m a big fan or not. I did not in this case find anything other than the backing music that I thought that highly of. But that just me. Doesn’t mean anything in the great big swill of things but this is a comment board. Like I said, you can say what you want, doesn’t mean anymore than what I said. Just no need to reply to me, make your comments in the article.

I was just having this discussion with a JamBand friend yesterday… He’s not impressed either, but he doesn’t know who JD Crowe is and he’s seen Phish almost 200 times. There’s a really sweet spot between liking traditional Bluegrass/Acoustic Music and liking full-on Psychedelia where Billy just HITS.
I’ve got some friends that feel the same, but the other direction. They love the traditional aspect and the pickin’ but they don’t click with the 20 minute jams and Grateful Dead covers.

Fascination ? Either you like it or you don’t. You can say that with any band. Here’s why he’s getting big.
1. Excellent Flat Picking Guitarist
2. Great Singer Songwriter
3. Still has a 40 plus year career ahead of him
4. Has a great backing band behind him
5. Grass roots following that happened naturally

Saw him in early December. First time I seeing live and was disappointed that he did not play his most popular songs. Completely understand that for long time fans going deeper into his catalog is enjoyable but it would have been nice for him to play a few songs that a first time fan would recognize. I would definitely see him again as he is an incredible talent, but I think he will be an acquired taste for many.

Yay for bluegrass. Dear Marcus Mumford, imagine how cool you would be now if you had stuck to bluegrass.
Go Billy, totally agree with everything Trig says about him.

Marcus Mumford played bluegrass? From my understanding he grew up playing evangelical worship music which is why his band sounds almost exactly like evangelical worship music plus banjo. I believe his church was part of Hillsong.

Don’t spoil it. They made some damn good acoustic based good party music and did a super high-energy live show.
When they went rock and worse, it was a blow to good music.
I mentioned them because they would have a lot of similar fans to Billy. Party music with acoustic instruments and real musical skill. In Billy’s case absolutely amazing level of skill
And people want it.

Is an Atlanta date too much to ask?
January 5, 2022 @ 8:47 am
He just did a 4 night run in Atlanta last month and is coming to Augusta in February.
January 5, 2022 @ 9:01 am
Well, it sucks to be me.

I got tix on the Fan presale this morning, relatively drama free. Go to https://www.billystrings.com/tour and join the waitlist for your city to get the presale code for your venue. They emailed me the code ten minutes before the on-sale and i was able to purchase VERY reasonable priced tix for San Diego. $49.50 face value for a venue that can and does sell the same seats for $79.50.
January 6, 2022 @ 1:14 pm
Did the same but my seats aren’t the best. I may try again at the public release tomorrow.

As country as Ohio is you would think he would have more shows. Bring it to Canton Palace Theater. He wouldn’t regret it. Steve Miller band played there years ago. Would love to get tickets as a surprise for my hubby. He is a huge fan and has promoted Billy’s music to many people.
