Billy Strings Adds New Dates to SOLD OUT Tour

There is no other way to put it: Billy Strings is a modern music marvel and phenomenon who will go on to define this generation in bluegrass and roots music, while future generations will look back upon us with envy that we got to see his rise, his heyday, and when he was in his prime. There is nothing else out there like Billy Strings in country and Americana, and any and all opportunities you get to see him live should be exploited.
Soon Billy Strings could be selling out arenas across the United States. But for the time being, he’s still content to play mid-sized venues, often booking multiple dates in the same location to fulfill demand. Up until today, all but three of the live dates he had on his calendar were sold out, and those soon will be as well. And similar to the Grateful Dead, you now have a contingent of people traveling often to see Billy Strings play wherever they can.
Billy Strings has just added a slew of new tour dates in February and March in select cities, and similar to his previous dates, they’re likely to sell out immediately, so set a reminder and be on your toes. Dates go on sale Friday, November 19 at 10 a.m. local time. Also, if you sign up for Billy’s mailing list, you can receive pre-order passwords.
He will be joined as always by banjoist Billy Failing, bassist Royal Masat, and Jarrod Walker on mandolin. Billy recently released a new album called Renewal debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Country Albums chart.

It’s amazing what a guitar prodigy he is. He’s not afraid to PEG his music to the tastes of traditionalists, while sticking his NECK out to BRIDGE the gaps between genres. He’s riding tall in the SADDLE, and no one can accuse him of being a musical NUT who STRINGS aficionados along.

I was trying to see if there was a hidden message in your CAPITALIZED words, but apparently not. Damn…

Shit, Billy sold out all four nights at The Eastern?
That’s not a small spot!
November 17, 2021 @ 10:15 am
2,300 capacity, not small but 1/8 the size of the typical arena. I’m going to the Mohegan Sun Arena which hasn’t sold out yet and that 8,300. Probably smaller for concerts though.

I’m just missing him in Boston…
November 17, 2021 @ 10:24 am
He needs to get his pickin ass to Alabama!

He hasn’t sold out the highest capacity show yet. (I’ll be there on Friday.) I don’t think he sold out the similarly sized Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion over the summer either. So there is still a bit of a ceiling. It will be interesting to see how that Greensboro Coliseum does though. That’s probably his highest capacity headline yet and more than twice the size of other high capacity shows he’s done. But I think NC is probably a better state for him.

Not sold out, but the crowd made up for it with their enthusiasm. I thought it was incredible and my wife who doesn’t like “bluegrass/country” was impressed. Loved his cover of John Hartford’s “All Fall Down.”

Wish the dude would come over to mainland Europe (besides to island shows in the UK)

Billy Strings is doing thing right (pun absolutely intended). Apart from being a virtuoso, which he’s not necessarily alone, the strategy he’s used to build rabid following is was key to the level he’s reach and how far he’ll go. From selecting venues that are the right size to accommodate a lot of fans but still ensure sellouts creates a FOMO factor, and with how good his live shows have become on all levels (band, venues, lighting, sound, etc) the people are clamoring. He’s also found a niche with the aesthetic side of things, from soft goods, to posters, to albums, there is a constant stream of new and unique offerings that keeps people constantly engaged. Even the fact that he’s under his own name but has had a consistent lineup of amazing musicians that deserve a lot of credit in their own right given people a chance to fall in the love with the whole group. Can’t wait to see how far he goes!

Billy is magic, pure and lightning in a bottle. He could throw it all away tomorrow and still be one of the best that ever was. Doc, I know, is proud. Whatever he does, we’ll be there to listen and be blessed/enriched.
