Billy Strings Lands Role in “King of the Hill” Reboot

The Texas-based animated series King of the Hill is back for an official 14th season after being cancelled by Fox nearly 16 years ago. The show was always unique for an animated series in how it actually showed the characters aging. The new season features a fully gown Bobby Hill, while Hank and Peggy have recently returned to the fictitious Arlen after living in Saudi Arabia a fictional eight years after the last episode.
The new 10-episode season is currently streaming on Hulu. King of the Hill featured quite a few country music icons throughout its original run, but this new series features one on every single episode. Bluegrass maestro Billy Strings was drafted to perform an updated theme song for the show’s outtro credits. The original intro theme song was performed by The Refreshments, and is officially called “Yahoos and Triangles” that was originally written and recorded for the show.
One of the endearing things about Billy Strings is that despite the esoteric and trippy nature of some of his bluegrass escapades, he’s always been a down-to-earth Michigan redneck at heart, dressing in camo, digging on NASCAR, and fishing whenever he can. Getting to officially perform the King of the Hill theme song has to be a bucket list moment Billy never knew he had until he was asked.
Billy’s backing band of Alex Hargreaves, Billy Failing, Jarrod Walker, Royal Massat, Jamie Dick, along with Billy Contreras also perform on the track.
The new series holds a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and word is a new 15th season is already in the works. Aside from having to get used to the new voice of Dale Gribble after the passing of voice actor Johnny Hardwick halfway through production of the series, few gripes have gone up about the reboot.

They should have used Living Like an Animal.

When will the new Beavis and Butthead season air? Their takes on Tik Tok videos are as funny as the old MTV video commentaries.

That rocks. Haven’t checked out the new episodes yet but I’ve heard good things. Was cool when they did that bluegrass episode and Vince gill sang for boomhauer. And the one where they go to the country music festival and Peggy poisons brooks and Dunn is an all timer

I should have been in the “King Of The Hill” reboot.(Imagine an astonishingly handsome,72-year-old black Canadian/American cowboy’s depiction !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is Boomhower still in “King Of The Hill?” The NFL has its Boomhower in Carolina Panther Xavier Legette, a native South Carolinian.)

I nominate myself and my buddy Jamie Logsdon as the new “Beavis And Butthead,” which we watched into nearly our sixties. (Jamie’s 69.) To keep the “B” theme,we’d use Jamie’s despised middle name, his mother’s maiden name,to call it “Brady And Baxter.”

Good for him! 🙂 Loved that show back in the day, so I’m curious to check out the new episodes. (Bobby was my favorite — “THAT’S MY PURSE! I DON’T KNOW YOU!”)

The Dead South already did a bluegrass reboot of the theme song.

I don’t really like that show. Mike judge is an acquired taste. I will stick with ESPN, NBA, NFL, NHL, and racing.
