Cheyenne Dalton Finds New Home in New Band

Just to close the chapter on Zach Top’s once beloved and high-profile acoustic guitar player and harmony singer Cheyenne Dalton Meyer, she has officially found a new gig. She was let go from Zach’s band in March, along with her husband and bass player Jimmy Meyer amid other shakeups in Zach’s band. Dalton had become a fan favorite after often singing lead on a song during many of Zach Top’s sets.

“A little over a month ago, I was let go from my position with ZT,” Dalton said in a statement on April 22nd. “While this was unexpected, I want to thank all of you for following along with me on all of my adventures. I’ll miss all of the fun, playing great music, and meeting every one of you. I couldn’t have done this without all of your kindness and encouragement. You all built up my confidence, and I have transformed into who I am today because of you!”

Cheyenne Dalton met Zach Top when they were growing up, and they played on the bluegrass circuit together. Dalton started in Zach’s entourage as the merch girl, and then replaced her sister-in-law in the band when the sister-in-law stepped away.

Dalton was let go from Zach Top’s band in a bigger reconfiguration of the band that now sees Top playing mostly acoustic guitar himself, with William Bagby playing lead guitar. Keys/fiddle player David Meyer remains in the band. He’s the brother of Jimmy Meyer, and brother-in-law of Cheyenne Dalton Meyer.

The good news for fans of Cheyenne Dalton is that she can now be seen on tour with Texas country traditionalist David Lewis. They recently finished multiple shows opening for Cody Johnson, and are now playing a string of shows in Texas. “Excited to say I’m officially back on the road with David Lewis!” she said recently. “Incredibly thankful to have met these wonderful people, and I can’t wait to make some country music with ‘em!”
