Cody Jinks Plans New Extended Tour with Five Finger Death Punch

Maybe it’s a good thing. Maybe it’s a bad thing. Or maybe it’s just a thing. However you look at it, Cody Jinks will be spending the lion’s share of 2026 not headlining his own shows, but heading out on tour with heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch as part of their 20th Anniversary Tour. Aside from an appearance at the San Antonio Rodeo coming up, and a few festival appearances this spring and summer, it will be Five Finger Death Punch for a run of shows through the end of the year.
The decision isn’t entirely surprising. Cody’s ties to the metal world are strong, including a number of high profile collaborations, and his own metal release in 2021 under the pseudonym Caned By Nod. But it’s understandable if some of Cody’s more purely country fans might be a little disappointed, while some of his metal crossover fans are throwing up double horns at the double billing.
Why go this route when Cody Jinks has been a strong headliner of his own shows for years? Part of it might be to siphon off some more of those metal fans to Cody’s country music. Part of it might be logistical ease so Jinks doesn’t have to worry about booking out an entire tour by himself. After all, Jinks runs most everything in-house these days. And who knows, maybe Jinks has a heavy metal Ace of Spades up his sleeve to play later this year.
And maybe this is just what Cody Jinks wants to do. He specializes in being his own man. And for those reluctant country fans, maybe invest in a good set of earplugs, and splurge on those tickets anyway.

There is definitely a strong overlap of the fan bases between Five Finger Death Punch and Cody Jinks. (It also happens to be overlap that loved Jelly Roll before he became accepted by mainstream Country) Five Finger Death Punch is a very Wal-Mart version of Metal though. If he was touring with Cluth and The Sword I’d buy a ticket.
January 21, 2026 @ 9:05 am
False equivalency and gate keeping. I don’t think the overlap you claim with Jelly Roll exists. I don’t really enjoy any of his music. I just attended an absolutely face melting metal concert in Nashville when I saw Whitechapel at Marathon. I love all kinds of metal. I love actual country music. I love live music. I’m excited for this show. Shitting on a band because they aren’t hardcore or obscure enough for you does a disservice to the genre as a whole. If you don’t like it, don’t listen or attend their shows. I know I don’t speak for everyone and you’re entitled to your opinion. I’m trying to teach my kids this exact thing. Just because you don’t enjoy a type of music, don’t belittle someone else for enjoying it.
January 21, 2026 @ 9:49 am
I don’t think you understand what False equivalency and Gate-Keeping even mean. Five Finger Death Punch is an objectively shitty corporate metal band. I shouldn’t have to explain why Jelly Roll’s music sucks. FFDP became popular along with other awful metal bands like Three Days Grace and other ‘coworker metal bands’ during the whole Clear Channel takeover of radio stations in the 2000’s.
There is 100% an overlap of the fan bases that I mentioned.
January 21, 2026 @ 11:03 am
100% seems high.
January 21, 2026 @ 12:18 pm
I did say they is a 100% overlap. I said that an overlap exists.
January 21, 2026 @ 1:21 pm
Good grief I can’t type apperently. I did not say that there is a 100% overlap. I was trying to say that there absolutely is an overlap of some of their fans.
January 21, 2026 @ 7:31 pm
While I’d definitely agree that there USED to be a particularly strong overlap with both their fanbases with Jinks output pre-“Change The Game”…………..as of late Jinks has really diverged in terms of personal maturity and creative evolution while FFDP have been on auto-pilot for going on fifteen years now.
I feel someone like Koe Wetzel would be a much better pairing with FFDP at this point, personally.
January 22, 2026 @ 5:20 pm
Haha, I was going to provide my elitist metal opinion and reply that we shouldnโt be calling fans of FFDP metal fans, as Trig did in this post. I get excited when I meet someone that calls themselves a metal fan, that that completely disappears when they mention something like FFDP or System of a Down, or something like that. Iโm not saying theyโre bad musicians or bad bands, but they arenโt part of the metal scene that the โtrveโ metalheads pay attention to, haha.
January 23, 2026 @ 8:17 pm
I agree. I think the more accurate way to characterize FFDP’s core sound is that it’s primarily hard rock with some nu-metal and thrash influences.
January 21, 2026 @ 8:31 am
Leave after the opener.
January 21, 2026 @ 8:34 am
I’m fucking stoked! I got tickets to see them at the Orion here in Huntsville. I’ve seen Cody and 5FDP multiple times. My wife also thought it was a weird pairing, but I told her about Cody’s metal roots and the Caned by Nod album.
January 21, 2026 @ 9:11 pm
I think it’s cool. That like Joe Ely and The Clash playing together back in the 80s. I would certainly buy some tickets but the closest show is 7 hours away.
January 21, 2026 @ 8:44 am
I love sushi. I also love tacos. But I will not eat at the taco sushi place.
January 21, 2026 @ 11:06 am
Sushi tacos and taco sushi are both really good. I have never been to Japan.
January 21, 2026 @ 10:03 am
I’ve never listened to FFDP, and rarely listen to any Metal anymore unless it’s just to see what someone (Dave Mustaine) is currently up to. I’m not really sure of the point of this for Cody except that yes, it’s easier than trying to go out and book your own tour where you’ll have to play different size venues depending on popularity in each region, pick openers….etc I’d rather see him take out 2 up and coming independent Country artists or have Ward as Special Guest, and do a headline thing. It really doesn’t matter to me I don’t play the Ticketmaster game. This is the problem when you do everything yourself, you have nobody around that has the balls to say, “I don’t think this is a good idea.” But hey, 4 months of solid tour income with no headliner worries is hard to pass up even if it’s not Country.
January 21, 2026 @ 10:12 am
This makes no sense to me. Leave what’s essentially Bro Metal to the Brantley Gilberts of the world. Early FFDP was pretty good, but they became overly formulaic. They’re completely irredeemable–Ivan Moody is a decent vocalist and their lead guitarist is quite talented, but they haven’t released anything interesting in years
January 21, 2026 @ 10:13 am
They’re not** completely irredeemable
January 21, 2026 @ 10:24 am
This is getting to be like warp tour.
January 21, 2026 @ 10:56 am
Can’t fucking wait. Proof that 5FDP is actually great and love Jinks even more. Sturgill sang “everyone worried about a good look, they outta be worried about a good hook. 5FDP can write a great hook.
January 21, 2026 @ 11:28 am
At least in the northeast, those are much bigger venues than heโd play solo, so maybe about expanding fanbase?
Iโm mostly curious what kind of a Jinks set it will be. Latest album? Caned by Nod? Mama song?
January 21, 2026 @ 12:30 pm
Itโs weird, but there is some overlap. 5FDP is definitely THE daddy of all โRed State Rock Festivalโ headliners right now. I wouldnโt imagine there are many metal purists in that fanbase.
Shinedown took Morgan Wade out last year – even sandwiched Beartooth between them-, and it worked.
January 21, 2026 @ 3:28 pm
I’m sort of Five Finger Death Punch fan,so they and Cody Jinks should be good together.
January 21, 2026 @ 5:11 pm
Should be fun for Codyโฆ. Not sure I want to go to this show when it comes to town though.
January 21, 2026 @ 5:53 pm
I love Cody Jinks and I love metal, but FFDP sucks really bad. FFDP is like the Walker Hayes of the metal scene. Iโm glad I saw Cody last summer, because Iโm going to have to skip it this time around. Itโs a bummer because one of the shows is 30 mins from my house.
January 21, 2026 @ 7:24 pm
This pairing definitely would have made a lot of sense as recently as four-five years ago…………….but more recently it feels increasingly awkward given the artistic maturity and personal evolution of Jinks with the one-two punch of “Change The Game” and “In My Blood”.
Five Finger Death Punch, in contrast, have remained creatively stagnant since “American Capitalist” really fifteen years ago. They have some genuinely talented musicians, but the problem is the band structurally revolves around its frontman Ivan Moody and it has really restricted their potential and the band really comes across as a brand more than anything.
So in my opinion this pairing just isn’t going to cut it at this point in both their timelines. Jinks continues to be steadily willing to evolve and mature, while FFDP have continued to double, triple, quadruple down on image and histrionics.
January 21, 2026 @ 9:08 pm
Five Finger Death Punch are up there with the likes of Disturbed in terms of being a “metal band”… I got dragged to a sideshow in Melbourne years ago and it was one of the worst things I have had to endure….
Jinks is more metal than they are and bad ass too…
February 3, 2026 @ 7:21 pm
agreed, 5 finger death punch is pretty ghey
January 22, 2026 @ 6:26 am
Where IS Walker Hayes?
January 22, 2026 @ 7:37 am
Yikes buddy
January 22, 2026 @ 10:12 am
It’s just a thing.
January 22, 2026 @ 10:53 am
Will it be metal?
Will it be country?
“Somewhere in the middle”
Ohhh right.
January 23, 2026 @ 8:19 pm
Much like Hardy.
It’s basically a self-report in admitting one likes generic music from any commercial genre, hahaha
January 29, 2026 @ 6:45 am
Whiskey Myers just announced that most of their tour dates this year will be co-headlining with the Black Crowes. While these bands do match up well together, I wonder if what is mentioned by Trigger and others that it’s become a hassle for independent bands to book shows is in play here too. WM did headline many shows last year but did a bunch of shows with Tedeschi Trucks Band last year but that seemed more like friends wanting to play together but maybe easier booking played a role. The TTB fans hated the pairing.
February 3, 2026 @ 7:20 pm
I’ll go see it, but why oh why couldn’t it be Pantera or Megadeth or something? Why 5 Finger Death Punch. They are pretty cringe and not a little ghey.
