Country Guitarist Chris Rodriguez Convicted on Assault Charge
Country musician and current member of the supergroup Generation Radio, Chris Rodriguez, has plead “no contest” to a misdemeanor charge of Assault with Bodily Injury stemming from a 2021 domestic dispute incident with his wife. Rodriguez was initially arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault – Strangulation, which is a felony.
For pleading no contest to the lesser charge, Rodriguez will serve an 11 month, 29 day suspended sentence, and be on probation for the duration. He was also ordered to pay $774.00 in court costs according to Davidson County Criminal Court Records. The incident occurred on June 13th, 2021 in Nashville. Rodriguez was arrested for the offense on June 17th, 2021, and was convicted on the offense on July 28th, 2022.
Chris Rodriguez is currently a member of the supergroup Generation Radio with Rascal Flatts member Jay DeMarcus, along with Deen Castronovo of Journey, and Jason Scheff of Chicago. The band was initially called The Rise Above, but changed their name to Generation Radio after signing to Frontiers Music in May.
A native of The Bronx, Chris Rodriguez moved to Nashville and became an in-demand session guitarist throughout the 90’s, appearing on recordings from Vince Gill, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Lee Ann Womack, and others. He participated in Shania Twain’s “The Woman in Me” TV tour band from 1995 to 1996, toured with Keith Urban from 2005 to 2010, and has also toured with Faith Hill, Kelly Clarkson, and LeAnn Rimes.
According to the original affidavit obtained by Saving Country Music, police were dispatched to the home of the then 61-year-old Rodriguez and his wife Charlotte Medley after she called about a domestic disturbance. Medley told police the two had arrived home separately after having gone out for the night, and that she could tell Mr. Rodriguez was angry about something. Charlotte Medley tried to barricade herself in a bedroom for her protection, but before she could get a chair in front of the door, Mr. Rodriguez forced himself inside the room, and allegedly started hitting her with a closed fist.
When Ms. Medley fell back on the bed, she alleges Mr. Rodriguez put both hands around her neck and started choking her. She says she never lost consciousness, but was not able to breath for a period. Ms. Medley then reportedly fell on the floor, and Mr. Rodriguez continued to strike her with a closed fist until she tried to push him off and strike him back and he left the room. Ms. Medley then barricaded the door, and called the police. Officers observed bruises on the left side of Charlotte Medley’s face, and swelling and an abrasion on her right arm.
After the incident, a protection order was signed, which Chris Rodriguez allegedly violated in a separate incident, resulting in a Criminal Contempt charge.
Also active in the Christian music market, Rodriguez released a solo album on Word Records called Beggar’s Paradise in 1999. In October of 2020, it was announced Chris Rodriguez would be part of the supergroup The Rise Above, which ultimately became Generation Radio. The group just released their debut self-titled album on August 12th.

Really, a 11 month suspended sentence. What does that actually mean, I’m not up on prison talk. Is he actually going to jail or is he basically let go under the pretense of not to do anything bad or we will get jail time. If he’s not doing any jail time, seems like a travesty to me. If he has any brothers, I would be squaring up the deal.

He will be out on supervised probation for the next year minus a day. So no, he won’t serve any additional jail or prison time. Hypothetically though, if he has another offense, the probation could be terminated, and he would have to serve whatever remainder of time behind bars.

Well sorry that’s just crazy. If he had lost control and slapped her or something like that I could see. But actually punching her with his fist and strangling her. Sorry he should be in jail for a while. Child rapist and women beaters getting off, sad state of affairs this is. Shows just how wrong as a society we have become.

“If he had lost control and slapped her or something like that I could see.”
Maybe you should rethink that stance.
My FBI husband of 22 years, slapped me hard, open handed. That open handed slap was violent enough, that when i fell, it broke my right arm in 2 places. Was in 2 different casts for 10 weeks.
I am 5’1″
He had no right to hit me.
And, he is damn lucky to be alive.
What did his supervisors say about him assaulting me?
My medical records no longer exist at the Immediate Care Center, in Greenwood, Indiana.
fbi also told me if i pursued the matter there could be dire consequences.
Not only did they look the other way.
They threatened my life.

I’m not saying slapping is right but we don’t know for sure exactly what she was doing. And my version of a slap wouldn’t be what you are talking about. Your situation like this one is totally messed up. If there was punches, I believe there would have been marks left. So I find the sentence really an injustice but who knows, maybe she spoke up for him. Wouldn’t be first time. Sorry you had to go through what you did.

I’m sorry that happened.

David and Penny,
Thank you. Sincere thanks.
And yes, the fbi is quite corrupt.
They even called into question, my pursuing a degree in nuclear medicine, while we were sitting at a table in Bennigan’s restaurant, on Gulf Way Blvd., St. Pete Beach. When that happened, i felt the little sharky smile cross my face. Right after, looked that asshole, William Harned, dead in the eyes and said, Yeah, want an invitation to my graduation?
Some of “my” people were scattered around at the restaurant that day, as well. fbi also knows that no less than 12 people around the country have pertinent information.

I pray for your happiness and safety ????

Was Rodriguez one of the studio musicians who appeared on that sentimental, tear-jerking love song by Wynn Stewart entitled “I’m Gonna Kill You?”

Stewart also had a hit with “Wait Til I get my Hands on You.” Not kidding.

And who can forget the lyrics to the Johnny Cash song, “Delia’s Gone?”
“The first time I shot her, shot her in the side
Hard to watch her suffer, but with the second shot she died . . .”
They just don’t write love songs like that anymore.

Did you ever listen to the Beatles’ “Little Girl”?
It starts off with John Lennon singing: “Well, I’d rather see you dead, little girl
Than to be with another man.” And it continues along that vein, with Lennon and McCartney advising said girl to “Run for your life” because one of them was about to do the job.
And girls screamed for them. I guess they saw it as a song of devotion, rather than something to be taken literally.

That song is called Run for Your Life and it directly pinches a lyric from ‘Baby Let’s Play House’ by Elvis Presley.

Murder ballads are weird and hard to explain to people. I was listening to the Louvin Brothers when “Knoxville Girl” came on. Just so happened my wife walks in the room about the time they’re singing about how she begged for mercy but the narrator “only beat her more”. She asked how in the world I found gospel music about murder and why I was listening to it. I’m like look, it starts in the Scottish Highlands in the 1600s or so…

Dang Chris…perhaps you should have listened to track 5 on the Generation Radio album. Dude, we all make mistakes; thus, I am not here to judge or toss my opinion out. Like track 4 says, “I hope you find it”…

That “supergroup” is no Highwaymen or Trio. He sounds like he came to country music with the Mutt Lange cock rock wave of the 90’s. Fuck that bullshit.

Trigger, a lot of people are checking your previous article for this update. If I had a dime for every person who has been wondering why you haven’t updated it, ( because they have been looking) I would be a rich man. Considering the comments on the other page, I think it would be important for others to know how this unfortunate event, was finally resolved.

I just added a link at the top of the original article to this updated article. With over a year between the two articles and multiple changes in the story—such as the change in the name of the band from The Rise Above to Generation Radio—I felt posting a new article as opposed to updating the original one was the best way to go. Usually this is the best way to update search results, etc., but sometimes the original article will still show up first. Hopefully this solves any confusion.

I was in a relationship with Chris for years (I know.. take a number..).
He is a con man. Everything he presented himself to be was a lie. Everything you believe is actually the opposite. He is a dangerous (I believe) psychopath. A psychopath is born with a different nervous system than the rest of us. This is why they can pass lie detector tests. No remorse or guilt. No responsibility. Always the victim. Charming and manipulative. Narcissistic. Master pathological liars.
He destroys everything in his path. But very few have actually seen behind the mask.
He was indicted by a grand jury on these charges. They looked at the evidence, and determined there was enough compelling evidence to go to trial. But, he plead down to a lesser charge.
He has sent numerous threatening texts to people who stand up to him.
All of the people who believe what he is telling you, are being conned just like all the women he’s duped for decades. This will continue as behavior escalates and he is emboldened by no real consequences…. Wait for it.

I mean this wholeheartedly, but how can we still have a societal standard that men can hit men, women can hit women, women can hit men—but a man can’t put hands on a woman—in an era when people can identify however they choose and we have men transitioning to women (winning sporting events after being born as biological males), while women transition to men.
Nobody should lay hands on anybody and assault is physical assault any way you slice it, but a safe bet if Ms. Charlotte Medley were the assailant here, beating on her husband—the world would laugh about it. Same as they do if a disgruntled woman pulls a Lorena Bobbitt and cuts her man’s junk off. It becomes late night monologue talk show fodder while the woman becomes a folk hero—yet if a jealous husband sliced his wife’s breast off, the entire world would grind to a halt and the NFL would issue special colored ribbons for the moment of silence (hat tip Bill Burr on the reference.)
Seems the outrage here is still the man-hits-woman narrative which is a very strange thing to hang onto in an era where one can’t even define what a woman is anymore (again, hat tip Matt Walsh).
What if Chris Rodriguez said he identified as a woman, took estrogen pills and lopped his junk off? Do we have the same outrage if it’s a woman-on-woman crime? To the poster above who compared men who hit women to child abusers and rapists, slow your roll, homie.
This is what happens when society loses its way and we go down this path of non-binary and transgender folk mucking up something like gender—because “hitting a woman”, which was aways universally an abhorrent offense—can now literally be deemed offensive, not for the violent act, but because you’re labeling her as a “woman” and a woman is a feeling, not a gender.
Have fun unpacking that one.

I Bob, Bob, who must be a tenor, Chris’ brother is the last person I would guess. I actually believe that this is Chris himself on one of his insane rants, and a bender. For all of you who don’t have a clue who this man is, this will never stop.
And Dude, you make no sense. I have personally watched him do these things for decades. He thinks no one is watching him, we all are, and all of his friends believe he did this.

Are you sure about this? Boy could I drop some bombs here. They have been living together since at the latest the Fall of 2021, right after this incident.
He moved on with more women than Missy. Missy must be one of his hidden Nashville gals. There have been too many to count. And she is a paralegal. He’s played that move too many times. Going to use her up and spit her out. We are all waiting.

I sure would love to hear about the bombs you have. He’s a snake and the truth needs to be told. We all need to expose him for the con man he is.
Twelve states have adopted expanded “rape by fraud” statutory provisions. This is an expanding area of criminal law. He falls into this category.
Rape by fraud is a situation in which the perpetrator deceives the victim into participating in a sexual act to which they would otherwise not have consented, had they not been deceived.
Eventually Missy will find out what’s really going on behind the curtain…..
