Cowpunk’s Jason and the Scorchers Implicated in Epstein Files

STORY SUMMARY:
- Jason and the Scorchers are/were a Nashville-based cowpunk (punk country) band.
- Records released as part of the Epstein Files accuse them of being part of a sex trafficking ring in the 1980s, with an accuser claiming they trafficked her to New York City where she had sex with Jeffrey Epstein.
- No charges have been filed, none of the accusations have been proven or corroborated, and the case is currently closed as “Information Only.”
- Blues Traveler is also named in the same file, but more in passing.
Jason and the Scorchers are legendary in cowpunk circles and in the annals of underground Nashville music as one of the first and one of the best bands to fuse punk and country into an raucous hybrid sound. Founded in 1981 after Sheffield, Illinois native Jason Ringerberg moved to Nashville, he joined up with guitarist Warner E. Hodges, and began making noise in both the country and rock scene.
After releasing a debut EP in 1982 through the independent label Praxis, the band signed with EMI in 1983 and released numerous albums through the label. They were also signed to A&M Records in 1989, and Mammoth Records between 1997 and 1999. Frontman Jason Ringenberg also has released nearly 20 solo albums, including through his alter ego, children’s entertainer Farmer Jason. Ringenberg is also an author and considered an elder statesman of Nashville’s independent music scene.
That’s why it comes as a shock to many that the name of Jason and the Scorchers has emerged via the documents released as part of the Jeffrey Epstein Files. Incidentally, the band Blues Traveler is also named in the same series of documents, but not as directly implicated in any wrongdoing, and is mentioned more in passing.

It’s worth underscoring that just being named in the Jeffrey Epstein files does not immediately implicate anyone in the most egregious accusations of behavior tied to Jeffrey Epstein himself or his close associates. Some of the names that have been mentioned in the Epstein Files were done so tangentially, or even inadvertently. It’s also important to point out that neither Jason Ringenberg, nor anyone in Jason and the Scorchers has been charged with any crime.
However, the accusations in the Epstein Files tied to Jason and the Scorches very directly accuse the band in participating in human trafficking.
On July 16th, 2019—about three weeks before Jeffrey Epstein died—a woman called the FBI and was connected with the National Threat Operations Center Unit to say that in 1988, she was kidnapped by individuals connected to Jeffrey Epstein and placed in a escort service that was a front for a prostitution ring.
I was trafficked from Nashville, TN to NYC in 1988 when I was 19 by the ring of criminals connected to Jeffrey Epstein. I was taken by van and exchanged for an Australian girl [name redacted] my age who went back to Nashville. A woman named [redacted] drove and she was paid by people in the music business I can identify. I was handed over to put me to work at an escort service on E. 63rd (between 1st and 2nd and 3rd) run by a woman named [redacted] who sent me to a group sex party the owner, her boyfriend Jeffrey was hosting. There were two other girls my age or younger, though not too much younger. I was asked to message “Jeff” and the other girls used a vibrator on me. I worked there a few weeks and ran credit cards on an imprint for a company called Carly Enterprises or sometimes Carlyle Entertainment Group. My paychecks for credit card transactions had one of those names.
Both press reports and legal documents corroborate that there was an escort/prostitution service set up on New York’s Upper East Side in the late 80s and into the early ’90s that used the name “Carlyle Entertainment Group” as a front, and specifically used credit cards for payment from clients. In 1988, Jeffrey Epstein was living in New York, and working for Bear Stearns. However, Epstein’s name does not appear in any of the reports tied to the exposure or investigation of the escort/prostitution ring.
Incidentally, there is another “Carlyle Group” tied to Baltimore Orioles owner David Rubenstein, who had a meeting with Jeffrey Epstein, though has not been accused of any wrongdoing. This other “Carlyle Group” appears to not be tied to the accusations from the alleged victim in 1988.
The alleged victim’s report goes on to say,
My next recruiter was a woman named [redacted], who worked with another recruiter [name redacted]. I became connected through [redacted] with the band Blues Traveler, and was approached by a Cuban coke dealer named [redacted] who worked in the IT department for CBS Records to introduce him to the band. I was trafficked from Nashville through a band Jason and the Scorchers who were also trafficking cocaine. I lived with [redacted] and his [redacted] male companion for several months. I believe I understand the connections of my story back through Nashville and the criminal nightlife business. My father [name redacted], was connected to the people who employed my traffickers, and I suspect he has engaged in pedophilia and pornography, although I have no solid evidence. He has a YouTube channel with videos I believe are designed to trigger me. I have names, dates and connections about the drug and sex trafficking I was pulled into as a teenager. Later I worked for Music City Marketing, that had its own FBI investigation and federal lawsuit in the 90s. Same bad guys, I’m tired of running.

CBS Records is a sister label to EMI that Jason and the Scorchers were signed to in the mid to late 1980s. According to court records, there was legal action against a Nashville-based company called Music City Marketing that was found to be selling drug paraphernalia.
Then on July 22nd, 2019—or six days after the initial call—what appears to be the same woman called in again, though this can’t be verified since her name is redacted. The information from the second phone call gives more insight into how the woman might have ended up being trafficked.
[Redacted] father is [redacted], personal identifiers unknown, and in 1988, he worked for [redacted], personal identifiers unknown, who was a political person. His family started a Luciferian Episcopal Church in Madison, TN called St. James the Less. In 1988 through these connections, [redacted] was on the road with the band Jason and the Scorchers, which was signed with A&M Records. They were connected with the same prostitution/escort ring that Jeffrey Epstein was in charge of in 1987-1988. [Redacted] personal identifiers unknown, was the wife of the guitar playing (sic) for Jason and the Scorchers and she was also involved. [Redacted] was sex trafficked and taken to New York. [Redacted] believes many of the aforementioned connections was through A&M Records.
Jason and the Scorchers were signed to A&M Records after leaving EMI, and released their 1989 album Thunder and Fire through the label. There is also an Episcopal Church in Madison, TN called St. James the Less at 411 W Due West Ave. that is still active. It was founded in 1958 as a conventional Episcopal church. It’s unclear what the “Luciferian” reference is to.
The report from the second phone call then concludes:
[Redacted] was asked when she was able to escape the sex traffickers and she became hostile and argumentative. [Redacted] was asked additional questions about her trafficking, but she would not answer the questions and began asking to be transferred. [Redacted] was advised that her call could not be transferred. [Redacted] then advised she was still being sex trafficked. [Redacted] was asked where she was being held and she said at [redacted]. [Redacted] was asked if she was able to get to safety and she began to ask what safety means. [Redacted] was advised to contact 911 if she had an emergency and the call was ended.
Then according to the Epstein Files record, the case remained open on August 26th, 2019—or sixteen days after Jeffrey Epstein died—as investigators looked further into the matter. Though the information is heavily redacted, it appears that the alleged victim was interviewed by Special Agents, that interview was recorded and downloaded to DVD, and attached to case 31E-NY-3027571, which is the Epstein File. Then on August 27th, 2019, the case was closed as “Information Only” and the issue wasn’t further investigated.

Saving Country Music reached out to both Jason Ringenberg of Jason and the Scorchers, as well as multiple representatives for Blues Traveler for comment on this story. Those inquires were not responded to.
Though the accusations are serious, they were not serious enough for investigators to pursue further in 2019, though many of the accusations within the Epstein Files have not been pursued criminally. It’s also fair to point out that the accuser became “hostile” and “argumentative” with investigators while being interviewed. The files present one person’s account of circumstances that cannot be independently verified.
It also could be the case that Jason and the Scorchers gave a 19-year-old groupie a ride from Tennessee to New York City in 1988 who ended up in an escort/prostitution ring and having sex with Jeffrey Epstein, but the two circumstances are not directly linked.
Saving Country Music’s investigation into the matter remains open. Anyone with further information about this case, or any case involving sexual misconduct within the country music industry is encouraged to reach out via the Contact Page.

Luciferian refers to satanic or satanism. I remember reading articles on the Tennessean years ago about all the prostitution and massage parlor busts in the late 90’s and early 00’s when Nashville finally started cleaning up that underbelly. I remember hearing from an older bandmate years ago about how common $30 blowjobs were in Nashville in the 80’s. I’m sure the guys in Jason and the Scorchers were mixed up with prostitutes to some extent – at what point is this a distraction and comparatively a “parking violation” while the elites are sharing torture videos and engaging in the worst crimes imaginable? I’m not saying this story should be ignored but I don’t know at what point it becomes a distraction simply because the elites won’t be held accountable and there is only “retribution against low-level people.
So the victim accuses her father of employing her traffickers yet his name is redacted? I’m so tired of all the damn redactions
February 25, 2026 @ 10:10 am
Completely agree. They’ll lock up some low hanging fruit so they can say they did something and that will be that.
February 25, 2026 @ 10:30 am
There have been zero meaningful investigations into sex crimes in the Epstein files. Prince Andrew had his royal credentials removed because of espionage charges. I do not expect any criminal investigations into the sex crimes because it would be lifting a rock and seeing hundreds of other bugs scatter.
The Epstein files confirmed the assertions of ‘conspiracy theories’ from Elite-run satanic pdf file rings and child torture to Covid being a planned bioweapon. The vast majority of the public is not ready or willing to accept the depth of what this all means and how the Epstein files is not just “underage sex with 15 yr olds.” It frustrates me to know that most people when confronted with this will choose to go back to believing the old paradigm because that is what is comfortable. Applying modern-day social enforcement on sexuality to the 80’s doesn’t fix anything. I’m struggling to find the best way to word this comment but the 1980’s was before everyone had access to free porn on their cellphone and there was not the same social enforcement on sex with teenagers younger than 18. Of course I am not saying it was right or moral or justified but holding up that decade to today is not correcting what the Epstein files have revealed.
February 25, 2026 @ 11:08 am
I’ll be stunned if they even do that.
The current administration and DOJ has essentially sat on their hands and told people “nothing to see here”. And they have continued that stance even as Trump’s polling numbers tank, public sentiment around this issue is overwhelming against them, and distractions to take this story off the proverbial front page continue to play out.
Maybe if the midterms wipe out the GOP’s advantage in both the House and Senate, then that stance changes. But there is absolutely zero indication anyone in the current administration cares enough to even hit the “low hanging fruit” right now.
Essentially “thanks for your vote, now go away and shut up”.
February 25, 2026 @ 11:24 am
Agreed to an extent that the current administration and DOJ hasn’t done much regarding the Epstein files, but what did the last administration do when they were in power? Why would them being in charge again be any different this go round?
February 25, 2026 @ 11:54 am
In no way was I intending to imply “elect Dems, this will change”.
I just meant, I don’t think Trump and this administration seem to fully understand how angry large swaths of Trumps own base are about their (lack of) actions on the Epstein files.
When Shawn Ryan is calling out Bondi and this administration in vulgar YouTube videos, that says a lot about the anger bubbling over this issue within Trumps own coalition.
All I was saying is if the GOP gets wiped out in November, maybe that will cause some self-reflection about how their own turnabout on messaging about this issue (October ’24 – we are gonna get to the bottom of it, fast forward 1 year and it’s a nothingburger) has eroded support even amongst those sympathetic to the MAGA cause.
I wouldn’t take that bet – Trump himself seems as dismissive to his own base as anyone these days – but putting Mike Johnson back in charge of the House and expecting him to change his tone on this issue is a lost cause.
February 25, 2026 @ 12:00 pm
It wouldn’t.
People are deluding themselves if they think the Democrats would reveal anything.
Both parties are compromised.
Which is why the whole structure needs to burn down.
February 25, 2026 @ 1:06 pm
I think they will do something about it, but it will take time. This is not an easy system to bring down. Lots of crazy stuff… probably hard to sift through.
February 25, 2026 @ 10:23 am
I always thought that the point of learning guitar and being in a band was to get girls. Achieving a modicum of fame as Jason & the Scorchers did, and then having to pay for it? Sad.
February 25, 2026 @ 10:38 am
That’s why bass players and keyboard players are more likely to be busted for soliciting prostitution. (this is a joke. I have to spell that out because half of you cannot understand dry humor)
February 25, 2026 @ 11:14 am
The harmonica player relies on his lips and tongue, unlike the rest of the band who fiddles around with their fingers only.
Just saying.
February 25, 2026 @ 11:46 am
Based on how harmonica players tend to look….they have to do more
February 25, 2026 @ 9:42 am
Maybe this is a false equivalency but I find it interesting that so many names are redacted yet the names of the two bands involved are not.
This is also a very minor point and in no way changes anything in the story being told here or what did, or did not, happen to the person telling it.
In other words, I am not suggesting anything about the truth of what is being reported, only making an observation that if you are going to redact names of people, why not names of bands?
February 25, 2026 @ 10:21 am
Just for the record, I did not personally redact any names. Wherever you see [Redacted], that is the way it’s in the files that are linked to in the article. I know you might not be implying otherwise, I just want to clarify that for everyone. I will also say that there is a version of this file that had slightly less redactions. But that file might have accidentally unredacted some potential victims as opposed to more potential perpetrators, so I decided to go with the more redacted version.
All that said, you are 100% right that there are some names of people being accused of crimes here with their names redacted, likely because they are people that are/were in positions of power, but we’re perfectly okay releasing the names of bands and musicians, and this feels like a completely inequitable situation. This isn’t the case just for this file, but throughout the Epstein Files.
I tried to be as judicious with reporting this information as possible. I also did question if this needed to be reported at all. But I do believe the implications are serious enough that it did deserve to be in the public record. I do wish Jason Ringenberg would have addressed the accusations, and perhaps he will in the future. But I think everyone needs to read this information understating this is just one person’s account, and there is a lot we don’t know about this situation.
February 25, 2026 @ 10:28 am
The names being redacted are, in general, accusers–or people who the media like to call “survivors.”
February 25, 2026 @ 11:26 am
Dude there’s stuff in the Epstein files where a court filing describes a piece of child sexual abuse material in which a bunch of adult men are seen sexually abusing a five-year-old girl. .
There are extensive stories that many victims in the files are like 9 years old. There are parts of Jeffrey Epstein’s emails where they’re talking about some girl not having pubic hair yet.
Don’t put quotes around the word survivors.
February 25, 2026 @ 10:24 am
It’s hard to overstate how stupid–and un-American–this “Eptein files” frenzy is.
Investigators have all sorts of things in their files, some of which are good leads, and some of which are pure garbage. In the case of Epstein, especially, investigators had to interview everyone, lest they be accused of covering up.
There were also plaintiff lawyers trying to drum up cases, becasue there was a pot of money there. The most famous plaintiff and “survivor”, Virginia Giuffre, made up so many stories and accused so many prominent people that she finally had to admit that many of her accounts were fictionalized.
If prosecutors had evidence to charge Jason and the Scorchers with a crime, then they should have done it. Or should still do it, if there’s a crime and the statute of limitations has not run out. But pulling the name of a person who’s not been charged with anything out of a file and demanding that he answer for a hearsay accusation is an egregious violation of basic civil rights. How would you like if they did that to you. I guess most of the people reveling in this sewer think, “Oh, I’m not famous. I don’t have to worry.” Don’t be so sure.
Best thing for Jason or any of his Scorchers say would be “Allegations against me of crimes are false. I will make no further comments.”
February 25, 2026 @ 10:47 am
There is definitely a fervor/social contagion around the idea of someone’s name being presented in the “Epstein Files,” and all of a sudden they’re implicated as being part of a child sex ring when maybe their name was simply mentioned in an email inadvertently.
However, in this particular instance, the name of Jason and the Scorchers is very directly named in an accusation that has to do with sex trafficking. If they transported a woman from Tennessee New York who was working in the sex trade at the time, that is sex trafficking by definition.
Also, NOBODY is being charged in connection with the Epstein Files, and nobody is even being investigated in the United States. Many of the alleged victims haven’t even been interviewed. Part of this is due to a moratorium the FBI placed on local jurisdictions, telling them that any Epstein-related matter was their domain. In the UK, numerous arrests have been made of high-profile individuals after in-depth investigations. In the private sector in the United States, heads are rolling as corporate boards are holding power people accountable. Don’t take the US government’s inaction as being as sign “there’s nothing to see here.” If anything, it’s verifying that a massive coverup is underway.
My guess is even in the worse case scenario, Jason and the Scorchers will not be charged with anything, if only because the statute of limitations has run out. But that doesn’t mean that they should be shielded from having to be asked questions about what happened with this alleged victim, and that the public shouldn’t know about it. There are people who’ve faced WAY more scrutiny for having their names merely mentioned in the files, when the mention of Jason and the Scorchers comes with a very direct accusation of sex trafficking.
February 25, 2026 @ 11:02 am
So I agree to an extent, but this whole “frenzy” is happening because multiple administrations have done nothing to actually go after the people who did commit crimes. So what you have as a result is people being like “well, they aren’t actually going to do anything about it, so everyone must be guilty”.
Blaming the general populace for their reaction to this ignores the fact that the true root of all this is a general distrust in our public institutions and the fact that people like Bondi, Garland, etc. sat on their hands and did/do nothing about actually going transparently investigating the people involved.
Putting the onus on you, me, and other everyday citizens to essentially “calm down and not overreact” ignores that the entire reason people are NOT calming down and (possibly) overreacting is because the people in power have and continue to do nothing.
February 25, 2026 @ 11:23 am
The story of previous administrations is more complicated than that. Biden’s administration put Gislaine Maxwell behind bars and that was a multi-year process that involved a whole bunch of appeals, during which they were legally precluded from saying anything about the Epstein files publicly.
I’ve seen a bunch of explainers on what exactly the judicial system and previous presidential administrations could or couldn’t do prior to the Epstein Files Transparency Act, and SOME of the seeming inaction is due to legal constraints as well as the ongoing prosecution of Gislaine.
As far as other stuff that seems untrue in the files- they actually make it very clear when something is just unverified tip line call (I’m not sure if that’s the case here or not but there have been a few that seemed like crazy people called the FBI at some point), and what information is from other sources. If you are only following this on social media you may not see those distinctions so it just seems like “a lot of untrue bullshit”. It most certainly is not.
February 25, 2026 @ 12:02 pm
They prosecuted Maxwell as a sacrificial lamb to get Joe Public to shut up.
Their plan backfired.
February 25, 2026 @ 11:13 am
I agree with your general point; though it would hold more water if the federal authorities had done due diligence on any of this stuff. It seems clear enough to me that investigations were nipped in the bud by higher-ups because of their direct or tangential links to the Deep State (CIA).
February 25, 2026 @ 11:17 am
So Jason and co. can expect a surge in streaming now.
February 25, 2026 @ 11:20 am
I think if we knew how many artists — popular and fringe– had links to the Deep State, we’d all be looking a lot differently at our collections and choices. Mick Jagger hasn’t faced any backlash or even questions about his ties to Epstein, for one.
February 25, 2026 @ 12:03 pm
You basically broke down why the full story will never be released.
It would shatter the whole system.
Of course, that is why the story must be released and the system must die.
February 25, 2026 @ 12:04 pm
Sir Mick Jagger, Knight of the British Empire.
February 25, 2026 @ 1:31 pm
Jagger, like Bono and other rockers, were simply mentioned. There is no evidence suggesting they even knew or were clients of Epstein. This is the case with many people who were named.
UCR had a good article on this:

February 25, 2026 @ 11:35 am
Gotta say, I find it unlikely someone in 2019 said you know what I’m gonna do? Make up an accusation against Jason and the Scorchers this relatively obscure band from the 80s forgotten by everyone except country fans who like their diet of a Bob Dylan song. Like a band probably only known to people who comment on this website. Like genuinely try to imagine that being a thing a person makes up in 2019? And they only called the FBI and never went public with it.
February 25, 2026 @ 11:36 am
Damn wish I could edit typos on here lol
February 25, 2026 @ 11:46 am
Tried to clean it up, but you or anyone can feel to leave comments with a * and I will make any edits.
February 25, 2026 @ 1:32 pm
*!
February 25, 2026 @ 11:50 am
It seems that those in power have been allowed to choose which names among the accused to release.
We need to want them all, or none of them at all.
Redact the names of victims and their families, but nothing else.
February 25, 2026 @ 11:50 am
This was meant to be its own comment, not a reply.
February 25, 2026 @ 11:52 am
I think the timing here of the accusations are important. When this accuser called into the FBI, this was BEFORE Jeffrey Epstein got killed and this whole thing became a national narrative. Yes, there were headlines previously, but it was mostly resigned to the business/political class. It was his death and the suspicion of suicide that made this whole thing explode. I’m not saying that means Jason and the Scorchers are guilty of anything. But I do agree the timing here, and the fact that this woman didn’t go to the press, didn’t file a civil lawsuit, and doesn’t really have anything to gain by naming an underground cowpunk band is important context.
After fact checking much of what the accuser says, I feel confident “something” happened here. I also think that something could be explained as a set of circumstances that are NOT how Jason and the Scorchers were buddies with Jeffrey Epstein and were deeply involved in some sort of sex trafficking syndicate.
February 25, 2026 @ 1:10 pm
He may not even be dead. A guy with the level of secrets he has is probably safe somewhere.
February 25, 2026 @ 1:12 pm
The problem with “lack of prosecution” is one of resources. There are a finite number of AUSAs – probably a smaller number of attorneys who I’d consider ‘qualified AUSAs”. They have a caseload already; murder, drug conspiracies, fraud and a daily host of criminals to handle. The allegations contained in the Epstein files are vast, cross-jurisdictional, and predicated usually on the testimony pf a drug-affected sex worker. The vast majority of Epstein crimes are grown-ups paying for sex. The amount of work needed to prep hooker-john cases is then very high, the likelihood of finding corroborating evidence of the crime this late is very small, and, the odds of successful prosecution are low. I am not advocating the DOJ just drop it. But, for the political football “lack of prosecution” has become, the reality is proving a grown-up paid for sex in court is a big lift without much to show for it. Epstein devised a “party system” where rich dudes who didn’t have time or game to work a lady up for sex in a bar could go to his party, hook up, and get it on. Epstein got influence and money. The rich dude got tail. The child-sex cases are different. The pedo-sex stuff was a small part of Epstein’s repertoire, and, to me, a part which ought to be hammered on at any cost.
February 25, 2026 @ 1:36 pm
After his time in The Scorchers, Ringenberg went on to make kids music and host a kid’s show on PBS. Potentially interesting.
February 25, 2026 @ 1:55 pm
Public television, apart from being transgressive propaganda and mind control, has long been a conduit for child abuse. One of the most notorious pedophiles in history, Jimmy Savile, used his work with public television to abuse kids for decades and we’re just starting to learn all of the connections to trafficking and abuse here in the states and across the world. Jeff Smith, another Sodomite pedophile abused young boys through his position as a PBS chef, as did the “puppeteer” who voiced Elmo.
February 25, 2026 @ 2:05 pm
Jason Ringenberg has performed as Farmer Jason for many years, and I reviewed one of the Farmer Jason albums many years ago.
There is absolutely no accusations and certainly no evidence that Jason Ringenberg has even been inappropriate with children. Even the uncorroborated accusations in these files are about a 19-year-old young woman. I would caution everyone from giving into Epstein hysteria here. There are plenty of questions from what we currently know, including how perhaps labels in Nashville might have been involved.
