Dwight Yoakam Plots 2020 Tour & Bakersfield-Themed Residency
Dwight Yoakam is ready to hit the road once again in 2020 with appearances at theaters, arenas, and his favorite haunt of casino performances halls, as well as a couple of exclusive festival performances, including the Shaky Boots Festival in Atlanta, and Ontario, Canada’s Big Sky Music Festival in July.
Yoakam has released tour dates throughout the winter and spring of 2020, including three special dates at Wynn Casino’s Encore Theater in Las Vegas. This is when he’ll reprise his residency first started in December centered around paying tribute to The Bakersfield Sound that has informed so much of Yoakam’s career. Along with his own songs, Yoakam will perform many of the classics that made Bakersfield an epicenter of country music influence and gave rise of California Country later on. Sponsored by SiriusXM, the shows dovetail with Dwight’s Bakersfield Beat channel (#349) on the satellite radio provider.
It was a good bet Dwight would be touring again this year, but what a lot of Yoakam fans want to know is if they’ll hear any new music from him in 2020. Dwight dropped two songs back in May of 2018, the old fashioned heartbreaker “Then Here Came Monday” co-written with Chris Stapleton, and the more upbeat “Pretty Horses.” He seemed to be buttering us up for a new album at the time, but he’s been mum on the new music front since then. Dwight is due for a new record since his last original one Second Hand Heart was released about 5 years ago, not counting his bluegrass record of some of his older songs from 2016, Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars…
Dwight Yoakam was also recently inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame along with Larry Gatlin, Kostas, and others.

One if not the best in the last 30 years. He is an original. He is a songwriter an he is one of the best live shows out there. He made a stop in Nashville went on to LA to become one of the last great outlaws of county music.

Saw Dwight here in Jersey in the Fall, awesome as usual, made it to the show just in the nick of time as a huge stormed rolled in just before the show and his plane was delayed landing at a local airport. Hope he swings east again this year!

He came to Sacramento Ca at the Crest Theather I wanted to meet him so badly my friend that I bought a ticket for got to shake his hand!!! I was crushed as it turned out as his tour bus was pulling out to leave guess who got to be the car behind his bus that’s right it was me so here’s the funny part I kept waving at his bus through my sunroof all the way until I had to pull off to my street but from the venue which was downtown Sacramento we got on the freeway 80 east to Watt Avenue that’s the direction I take to go home!! I couldn’t believe such a big star would go right through part of town instead of staying on the freeway!!! Which told me he had to know someone in Sacramento because the route they took goes absolutely no where not to some fancy hotel or anything no major freeway possibly to a casino called Thunder Valley but it would be the long way around any way I wish I could meet him SO BAD!! but I’m sure he couldnt forget my car as it is s Dale Earnhart # 3 the intimidator !! as I’m turning off I screamed out my window “I LOVE YOU DWIGHT!!!!

I’m not going to say I “love” him, but I saw him once at a Wilie summer show in the Woodlands years ago. There were lots of great acts but he was by far the best one IMO-
