Dwight Yoakam, Turnpike Troubadours to Lead Fire Relief Benefit

It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, it was harrowing to see so many homes, communities, and lives affected by the historically-devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles region in January. The fires specifically affected many in the West Coast country scene that has been a vital conduit for talent in recent years.
Multiple benefits have already happened in California with more planned, but folks back east will also have their opportunity to help out while also taking in some killer music. On February 19th in Nashville, Dwight Yokam and the Turnpike Troubadours will be leading a benefit concert at the Bridgestone Arena called “LA Revival,” with proceeds going to MusiCares Fire Relief.
Also scheduled to appear are Cam, Carter Faith, Shane Profitt, and Brit Taylor. The event is being organized by Thirty Tigers and their sister label Tripe Tigers, and will be happening during Nashville’s annual Country Radio Seminar, or CRS. It’s a great way to take in some killer music while also helping a good cause.
MusiCares was started by the Recording Academy in 1989 as a 501(c)(3) to help the wellbeing of the music community. They have been providing direct assistance to artists, musicians, side players, engineers, and other music professionals.

It is a great thing to have Dwight, whose hard-edged revival of Buck Owens’ 1960’s Bakersfield honky-tonk style in the 1980’s was integral to the history of country music during that time, helping the charge to aid the revival of Los Angeles after these horrific firestorms, which were fueled by 100 mile-per-hour (Category-2 hurricane force) Santa Ana winds, bone-dry vegetation, and near-zero humidity. People of all walks of life, regardless of economic, ethnic, or religious background, saw their homes and businesses incinerated in a matter of hours, if not indeed minutes; and at least twenty-nine lives have been lost so far.
This isn’t about DEI or “woke culture”, or whatever bullshit “issue” has been floated around by trolls peddling phony political outrage. This is about human lives and basic human decency, and it’s heartening to know that there are people like Dwight and others out there who understand this basic truth.

Thanks for bringing up the political angle while admonishing others for doing so! Your virtue has been duly noted!!!

…and about providing shelter to all the homeless people who were given blowtorches and paid to start fires so that the elites and Blackrock could buy the property.

It’s about homeless camps in mismanaged forests, arsonists and a reckless taising of mansions in the wilderness, without enough focus on the infrastructure.
I’m not so sure I support any money-raising for a bunch of millionaries who lost only one of their several mansions around the world. Yes, I know their servants suffered too (and I know that Dwight loves to mingle with his newfound Hollywood friends), but this is first and foremost a rich man’s playground.
California swims in money, it’s their responsibility.
Run a show for the poor folks in North Carolina instead. That’s what annoys me. No flashy fundraising for the poor districts.

Any further comments of any type of political nature on this article will be immediately deleted, and this comments section will be shut down if they continue to persist. This is a benefit for musicians and music professionals that we should all be able to get behind. There are many poor and middle income people in California who lost everything too, including people who lost gigs, equipment, etc. due to the fires.

But Erik started, mr. Coroneos, sir!

This is the fan base that you’ve cultivated with your writing, Trigger. Every post you make that’s not about the music reinforces it, and you do it because those are the posts that you get “impressions” on or whatever the fuck.

Glad to see this. Folks need all the help they can get. And tangentially related but not, Unbroken Circle Fest in Madison, IN dropped their lineup this morning with Turnpike and Marcus King headlining. CWG, Silverada, Joe Stamm, Sunny Sweeney, Leah Blevins, Dallas Moore….. Pretty solid.

Any word on if this will be streamed anywhere (YouTube for example)?
I know it is unlikely, but would be cool if the streamed it to raise attention for this event and the cause it is supporting.

Not seen word on that, but I’ll keep my eyes out.

Not to make light of a serious situation but I think it’s funny that I haven’t heard anything about Cam in 10 years and then she pops up for a concert in support of people whose houses burned down. A bit on the nose and I felt that it needed to be noted.
