Flatland Cavalry Announces New Album “Welcome to Countryland”

One of the most important young bands in Texas country is back with a new song out, and a new album on the way. The song is called “Some Things Never Change,” and the album is called Welcome to Countryland, and it will be released on July 2nd. It comes as the band looks to take their music to the next level after now creating worthy buzz in the Texoma scene for nearly a decade.
Recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios and produced by Jake Gear, Welcome to Countryland features 14 new songs, all of which were written or co-written by the band’s frontman and singer Cleto Cordero except for one called “A Cowboy Knows How” composed by Luke Combs, Dan Isbell, Jonathan Singleton. Flatland Cavalry recently were signed by the manager of Luke Combs, and Cleto recently moved to Nashville, so recording a Luke Combs song makes sense.
Also collaborating on the album will be Cordero’s wife and fellow performer Kaitlin Butts, and Hailey Whitters on a song called “…Meantime” that was co-written by Cleto and Lainey Wilson. They join other principle Flatland members Reid Dillon (electric guitar), Wesley Hall (fiddle), Jason Albers (drums, background vocals), Jonathan Saenz (bass, background vocals), and Adam Gallegos (piano, keys, mandolin, banjo).
“We spent our time off the road in 2020 working diligently towards this new record,” says Cleto Cordero. “The support from our fans, friends and family gave us hope to ‘go for broke’ and pour our hearts and souls into the writing and creating of this new batch of songs. I think it is our favorite record that we’ve created to date because it was made during such a critical time in our journey, which, I think, brought a whole new sense of wonder and significance to the project. We can’t wait to give our fans what we believe is our most meaningful album to date!”

Like so many Flatland Cavalry songs, “Some Things Never Change” co-written with P. Palomino features prominent fiddle, and a beat perfect for dancing in boots.
Welcome to Countryland can now be pre-ordered.

One of my favorite bands in the Texas scene at the moment, Homeland Insecurity is a great album front to back and really looking forward to hearing what they put out next.

Love your name

Great news! Humble Folks is probably on my list of top albums I discovered through here. Wasnt as big a fan of Homeland Insecurity but still enjoyed it a lot (especially the lead song Come Back Down). This first song isn’t ground breaking by any means, but I still enjoyed it. Hard to ask for more than that. Looking forward to the remainder of the album.

Flatland and William Clark green last show I was able to see because of Covid. 2/14/2020. Looking forward to something new from them.

Why does the singer sound so isolated from the band? I like all the components but it doesn’t seem natural or cohesive. I bet it will sound great outside of the studio. I hope the whole album isn’t produced this way.

I thought the exact same thing. Something sounds off, either his vocals or the mix.

Yeah, my chief disappointment with Homeland Insecurity was the mix. This is sounding kinda similar. In this case the vocals and fiddle are staying up front, but some others (drums especially) are fading in and out.

Having tried a few times to get into them, I think I like these guys and what they’re trying to do more than their music.

I like the song and look forward to the album. Cleto and Kaitlin played a few of these songs acoustic the other day on Instagram. Sounded good.
Speaking of up and coming bands, I’m sad about Folk Soul Revival calling it quits. I thought their last album was great. Shame they shut it down just as it seemed they may have been ready to break out.

These guys bore the hell out of me.

I understand why you might say that but go watch the Ditty TV live concert and give em a chance. Cleto is a good songwriter on his way to becoming great. He might not be_______ (whoever/Felker…..) yet, but man when he nails it………he NAILS IT. They’re gonna get better and they’re gonna be great. And….to whoever has a problem with the production or the sound of the new tune? I’ve been listening to this song in my car, on my iPod etc…. for 2 weeks and it sounds fine. I hate to debate production/mixes of songs/albums on this website and thank god we don’t do it on every album because it’s all an opinion and you have no idea what people are listening on or what the original source they got it from was. Is THIS…. a great song? No…it’s a solid album track and I like it! Looking forward to the album and them coming to Chicago. These guys are the goods, support them!!!
