Full Schedule Reveals New Additions to Tumbleweed Festival Lineup
One of the most anticipated events in the entirety of 2017 in true country music is the Tumbleweed Festival just outside of Kansas City. With its stacked lineup of Cody Jinks, Whitey Morgan, Sunny Sweeney, Billy Joe Shaver, Jamey Johnson, Jason Eady, Colter Wall, William Clark Green, Jaime Wyatt, and so on and so forth, there may be longer lineups at certain events, but it’ll hard to find any that are better.
The Tumbleweed Festival will transpire on July 28th and 29th, with early revelers arriving on Thursday the 27th with a host of bands playing that evening. After a vote-in contest Tumbleweed ran for the final performance spot of the festival, they decided to add multiple new acts to the lineup since so many fan bases showed such strong support, and now the Thursday night lineup, as well as Friday’s and Saturday’s late night lineup, has been provisioned with more talent.
Greg Payne and the Piedmont Boys from South Carolina have been added as both the headliner of the Thursday night party, and to close out the festival on the late night stage Saturday night. Husband and wife duo Porter Union were also added to the Friday lineup, and Dustin James Clark from Missouri was also added to Thursday night’s festivities.
The Tumbleweed Festival is also offering free admission to all Veterans, Active Duty Military, and kids under 10. Camping is also available on site, and there will be fishing, guided canoe river trips, and helicopter rides as part of the festivities.
“Tumbleweed creates an unbelievable escape from reality, where everyone is your best friend and relationships are established for life,” says Tumbleweed organizer Doug Bordegon. There isn’t a better place to appreciate life with your friends and family; Tumbleweed is truly a spectacular experience.”

That is a powerful lineup right there. Wish I could pull this off.

What an awesome line-up! I really wish i could make this! I’ve always wanted to see Creager and he doesn’t venture outside of Texas very often…let alone to my home state. 🙁

And Shaver as well. I saw Guy Clark a few years before he passed away in a very intimate setting (300 people). It was like watching the most beautiful swan sing its final song. I’ll forever cherish that. That’s what this show could be like for Billy Joe

Whitey Morgan is probably my favorite of this group, love his material. Cody Jinks gets so much attention, I feel like he’s getting the “Luke Bryan treatment” from Country fans.
I mean, have we elected Cody Jinks as the ambassador of real Country Music?
was there a vote?
because I voted for Jason Boland…
I feel like BJS deserves more stage time… he’s got a major seniority over the others.

I’m a big fan of Cody Jinks, myself. I DO think he gets talked up a bit more than he should but he’s still incredible. I do agree that Whitey Morgan is better….and Jason Boland, don’t get me started. That guy is a badass from a few towns down the road from me. Terrific musician and un-waveringly good. I was listening to his Pearl Snaps album on the way home from work just the other day. Really cool dude!

I thought squelch was his best album… great tunes and great variety of songwriting.

I’ve been crushed ever since they announced this festival because i simply can’t make it. I’m a barber and the time that this concert takes place is “red-zoned” at work (which means no one can take off) because it’s right before school starts and i’m going to have a bunch of hyper, crazy kids in my barber chair all day every day. Wish I could make it to this event. Very happy for anyone who gets to go, though! I’ve seen quite a few people from the lineup this year. This year I have seen Sunny Sweeney (who i just won an autographed guitar from last week!), Ward Davis, Cody Jinks, Whitey Morgan, Colter Wall, and Jaime Wyatt. Y’all have fun at this festival! Looks like it’s going to be a good time with great musicians and a lot of nice fans, i’m sure. 🙂
