Hank III Adds Western Dates to Canada Tour
Hank Williams III has just announced some new US dates on the tail end of his first Canadian tour starting June 4th in support of his new album Rebel Within. Opening for the American leg will be the greatness of Izzy Cox in a move that is surprising, but also makes perfect sense to me all at the same time.
Hank III will also be appearing on Outlaw Radio Chicago tomorrow (5-19) night at 8 PM Central on www.scrubradio.com, and you can tune in an hour early for some great cigar box music on Stink Finger Radio. Me and many other cool folks will be hanging out in the Scrub Radio live chat room, where none other than the aforementioned Izzy Cox made an appearance last week. It’s always a good time! And if you miss the show, it will be arcived the next day at www.savingcountrymusic.com/outlaw-radio
UPDATE*****UPDATE*****UPDATE
Hank III will NOT be on Outlaw Radio this Wednesday. The appearance just got canceled. Stay tuned for when it will be rescheduled.

May 18, 2010 @ 3:07 pm
whats up with the wierd al video???
May 18, 2010 @ 3:07 pm
Screw me. That means I gotta go to all the blogs and message boards I’ve spammed and update it. It’ll take me a friggin hour. Ass.
May 18, 2010 @ 3:10 pm
Sorry Trigg he put it up about 15 min. before you put yours up.
May 18, 2010 @ 3:10 pm
Wait, you’re not from Canada, are you Wayne?
🙂
May 18, 2010 @ 3:23 pm
HELL NO !!!
May 18, 2010 @ 3:25 pm
NO HANK INTERVIEW…BUMMER 🙁
May 18, 2010 @ 3:28 pm
He was also scheduled to headline the Joey Ramone Birthday Bash charity concert in NYC on Wednesday night and they’ve removed his name from the gig poster.
May 18, 2010 @ 3:31 pm
And he’s looking for an Assjack drummer. Here come the doomsayers.
May 18, 2010 @ 3:35 pm
Haha! God I didn’t even know Weird Al was still around – that was funny – even though I only understood about half of the references! The WEIRDEST thing I found in Canada (and there were many) was at Vancouver Airport when you transfer to a flight to travel onto the USA – a big arsed US Homeland Security Sign that says “Welcome to the United States” in Vancouver Airport?!? What the ….? I was concerned – did Canada know they had been invaded and was now the 51st state? Nobody seemed to mind. Most strange.
May 18, 2010 @ 3:38 pm
Why’s he looking for a drummer – Munesh is Canadian eh?
May 18, 2010 @ 3:43 pm
Weirdest part of Canada: Ketchup flavored potato chips.
Don’t know what happened with Munesh, and yes he is Canadian. I know III wanted to replace him before because he wanted someone local to Nashville. I think that’s how McNasty came into the picture again.
There’s a chance we’ll see Munesh anyway. I hope we do. I think he was Hank III’s best drummer. Assjack AND country.
May 18, 2010 @ 3:49 pm
sorry bout that folks. shit is out of my hands. III is MIA right now. It should be rescheduled for next week, but wont get my hopes up until it’s official.
May 18, 2010 @ 3:51 pm
You can get ‘mince pie & tomato sauce’ flavoured chips here! Okay who is McNasty? Is he some Grey’s Anatomy character I missed?
May 18, 2010 @ 3:58 pm
McNasty = Shawn McWilliams
Hosers = Canadians
May 18, 2010 @ 4:17 pm
I had to look up ‘hoser’. It’s like a bogan in NZ. Nice! Whenever American’s confuse my accent I always say “No I’m from New Zealand. You Canadians – you’re all the same!” And I didn’t get beaten up once. The weirdest one I get from Americans is “Are you from Boston?” LOVE it. Ohhh I just checked out Izzy Cox. Love her style! She has a cool 1920’s flapper thing going on. Very twisted. And she’s from Austin. Just like Wayne Hancock, Lucky Tubb, JWW & The Prospectors, Scott H Biram ….. damn, think I REALLY need to move there. What a ridiculously cool town.
May 18, 2010 @ 4:58 pm
Boise – so close yet not really close at all. Too bad he’s not hitting Spokane. Hey, before you trash Canada check out the TV show Trailer Park Boys. If you don’t laugh your ASSES off, well I can’t help you!
May 18, 2010 @ 8:09 pm
I second Aran Buzzas’ comment ’bout Spokane. Good to see him hittin’ the west again, though. I wish more underground country artists would follow suit…
May 18, 2010 @ 10:09 pm
im just happy im gonna get to see them in fayeteville arkansas
May 19, 2010 @ 7:38 am
I listened to some of the Izzy Cox stuff, she’s pretty cool but it says Western Swing as one of her musical descriptions. I don’t hear it, she sounds a lot more like Amy Winehouse than Bob Wills or Hank Thompson.
May 19, 2010 @ 8:44 am
Lol fuck you Trigger Man.. Totally just rick rolled me on the weird al video lmao.. Unfortunatly i am from Canada but honestly i don’t even act Canadian, Hell i don’t even like Canada and i’ve considered moving to the states but who know’s what is to come in the future. I was hopin that III would come back to Alberta after the 26th of July since that i’ll officially be 18 then and i could go see his concert but he isn’t so i guess i gotta wait awhile or travel to the u.s in the near future, I was really dissapointed to see the tour dates cause i’m a huge fan of Hank III not to mention he’s basicly my idol but ohwell.
Have a good one.
May 19, 2010 @ 9:56 am
Hehe Rick, truth is I’m really happy for everyone up there that Hank III is finally going there, its been a long time coming. But now that Hank III is going up we want Bloodshot Bill to come back down. It’s only fair. And tell him to smuggle me in a set of lawn darts.
May 19, 2010 @ 10:01 am
aww hell… first, young brother rick maybe ya just need to come out to b.c. man, aint nobody could convince me or my pals of leavin here. but i guess if ya dont like it ya should see the world and whatnot but i wager that you’ll be back. i aint leavin my mountains and they aint leavin me, high, wild and free til the ravens pick my bones clean. and to all ya who aint in the know bout us northern rebels, i’ii say it now, once III gets a taste of that b.c. homegrown he might never come back to ya.
May 19, 2010 @ 10:02 am
Shot,
I understand what you’re saying. Those are just the generalized MySpace genre names that really don’t mean much. We actually had a pretty in depth discussion about genre names last Wednesday in the Scrub Radio chat room. She wasn’t asserting that she was some queen of Western Swing, she like to call her stuff “steampunk.” I think the Western Swing is more to give people the idea that there’s swing and country influences in her music.
May 19, 2010 @ 12:56 pm
Yeah I wasn’t trying to slam her….her stuff sounds really good and she’s got a killer voice. I just was kinda hoping one of the songs had some fiddles and western swing steel rides or something. I think that would be a badass addition to some of her music.
