I’m With Her Announce Extended “Overland Tour” with The Brother Brothers
Getting to see singers, songwriters, and string aficionados Sarah Jarosz, Sara Watkins, or Aoife O’Donovan live in concert individually is probably justification enough to spring for the babysitter and call in sick to work the next morning. Stack them together as the bluegrass supergroup known as I’m With Her, and it makes the decision even easier. Then add the up-and-coming brother singing duo The Brother Brothers from Brooklyn, and now you’re really talking.
Behind their highly-touted record See You Around, I’m With Her have been touring like a mother in 2018, just recently wrapping up a European leg. Now they’ve just announced a fresh round of dates for what they’re calling the Overland Tour. Aptly named, it will take them coast to coast, up and down, and include nearly 60 dates when all is said and done, including marquee performances at the upcoming Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Pickathon outside of Portland, and a few dates into Canada.
Starting on September 8th and running through the end of November, they will be joined by The Brother Brothers, who come highly recommended by Saving Country Music from the quality of their debut 2017 EP Tugboats. This will be a big, national opportunity for the two brothers in front of large crowds in well-renown venues.
A few of the early dates are already sold out. For more information on tickets and such, visit imwithherband.com .

At the risk of hyperbole, these three gals may very well be the 21st century equivalent, artistically speaking, of The Trio (to wit, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris). Indeed, they all three got together here in L.A. in December 2016 to do the Carter Family classic “Lover’s Return” (from TRIO II) at a benefit for Parkinson’s research (Linda was being honored here, given that Parkinson’s Disease had forever silenced her big generation-defining voice). Here’s hoping I’m With Her have a hugely successful tour.

Been a fan of theirs individually and together for a while. I cant wait to see them at Forecastle, I just wish they had a later billing so more people could see them.

“Bluegrass supergroup”? I think these 3 women are extremely talented and I don’t mind listening if I am in the mood for some mellow music but I don’t think I would define what they do as Bluegrass. That being said if they were to ever perform in my province I would go check them out. I’ve been a fan of Watkins and Jarosz for a while although I never knew much about O’Donovan until the trio started making a name for themselves. Beautiful voices and harmonies from all 3

I don’t think it’s out-of-bounds to consider them bluegrass. This particular project may be more folk and singer/songwriter in scope, but they all have established careers firmly in the bluegrass realm. But I get it, this isn’t Dailey & Vincent.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t “I’m With Her” Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign slogan? Yes it was..

The terms “I’m With Her” and even “It Takes A Village” predate Hillary Clinton. Let’s not freak out here.

It does beg the question though, is the name of the band a reference to the Hillary campaign? I’m genuinely asking if anyone knows. I would like to go see them, but I’m not interested in going to a political pity party or pep rally disguised as a concert.

Eye roll.
No, they were a band before all that.

I knew the answer, but just for shits and giggles, I googled “I’m with her band.” The second hit was labeled “I’m With Her: ‘We’re about camaraderie, not Hillary’” and the summary text is I’m With Her had been playing together for 18 months when Hillary Clinton unwittingly commandeered their band name. “It wasn’t the worst . Super easy.

Thank you Jack Williams. I realize I could have googled it, and I did shortly after posting that, finding the same Guardian article. It wasn’t a “freak out”, I was just pointing out that it’s a legitimate question from “the realist”. If there was a band called Making America Great Again, wouldn’t people ask the same question, even if they’ve been playing County Fairs for the last 15 years in the Dakotas? I mean, we’re talking about a small side project that has been quietly playing together for a few years, not a band that has had even minor chart or radio success. I’ve seen Sara Watkins twice and Sarah Jarosz once, and neither mentioned this band.
My point is, this project is not well known by any means. I wouldn’t have known about it if not for Trigger (thank you sir) and it’s not an unreasonable question. Isn’t this an open forum for like minded people to discuss, ask questions, and learn from each other about the music we love… and hate? Probably not worthy of an eye roll, but I do apologize if my tone came off as aggressive or political in any way. Definitely not my intent, I’ve always tried to keep politics out of the few comments I’ve made. With politics invading every aspect of our lives today, I’ve been interested in more apolitical entertainment lately. That goes for the right and the left.

No question these artists are gifted vocally and musically .
But am I alone in suggesting the material isn’t as strong as the sum of its parts ?
I’ve listened to all three of these artist as soloists , bandfolk with others and now as a trio .
I come to the same conclusion o each count . Its GOOD ….but I don’t feel that it is memorably good . Perhaps this is another case of an act that could really use some songwriting help ….?
I would draw ”Della Mae” as a comparison and that act has some serious ammunition whn it comes to the songwriting .

I agree Albert.
It’s a bit too “perfect” for me.
But, good players, and very nice vocal blending.

I love them Trig and good to see them on your radar. I’m headed to see The Punch Brothers in July.
