Jenny Tolman to Release New Album “Married in a Honky Tonk”
Mixing humor with emotion, and traditional country with a little fun, Jenny Tolman has been a bright spot in country for the last few years, and will look to continue that trend with her new album Married in a Honky Tonk out March 4th, produced by her future husband, the Grammy-nominated producer Dave Brainard.
Jenny Tolman created her own little honky tonk universe she nicknamed “Jennyville” for her debut album, There Goes The Neighborhood in 2019, with different characters and settings making up the respective tracks, and Grand Ole Opry legend Jeannie Seely serving as the honorary “Mayor.” The new album picks up where the last one left off, while perhaps maturing just a little, and veering more towards reality.
“I like to think of ‘Married in a Honky Tonk’ as half ‘Jennyville’ and half real-life Jenny,” Tolman says. “It has all of the characters and storytelling that I love to enact throughout, but it also has a heavy hand of personal stories weaved in. The life on these songs span from over 6 years ago, to not even a year ago—-so, as a songwriter, it’s very special to be able to have that wide a range of material to show the evolution of my life.”
You can hear that range in the two songs that have been released from the album so far: the twang-heavy and fun “I Know Some Cowboys” about getting twirled around by some handsome cowboys in the famous honky tonks in Texas, which currently featured in the SCM Top 25 Current Playlist, and the more recent and touching song expressing vulnerability, “Afraid” (listen below).
Though the pandemic helped facilitate the writing and recording of this album, it was written with the road and live audiences in mind. “Especially after the pandemic and not being able to play as much as we would have liked to, we all realized how important live music truly is to all of us,” Tolman says. “It was really important that we made this album with a good live show in mind. So, when you listen, you’ll definitely hear that captured.”
And it all comes with the ringing endorsement of Jeannie Seely, who appears in her role as “Mayor” on the album.
Married in a Honky Tonk out March 4th is now available for pre-order.

Jenny is amazing! I highly recommend the deluxe version of her debut album “There Goes the Neighbourhood”. It is a great mix of pop country with some more traditional songs. “Tabitha” and “My Welcome Mat” are my personal favourites, and “Still Gonna Die” is guaranteed to make you laugh! There’s also a great duet with Jeannie Seely (“Who’ll be your fool”). She’s also got a cover of Don Williams’ “Tulsa Time” on Youtube.

Her previous album is great. It’s exactly what you want country mixed with just a bit of pop to be.
