Jesse Daniel Announces New Album “Son of the San Lorenzo”

Let’s go! It’s hasn’t even yet been a year since Jesse Daniel released his last record Countin’ The Miles, and he’s already loading up another one in the chamber. With the way he revitalizes the honk tonk sound in country, that’s more than okay with us. Circle June 6th on your calendar for the next installment in the Jesse Daniel catalog when Son of the San Lorenzo hits the streets and streaming services, with a new song called “My Time Is Gonna Come” out now (see below).
“I wrote, arranged and produced this record myself,” Daniel says. “I also took on much of the sonic direction, including percussion, rhythm and lead guitar, harmonies and more, which I think is a really important piece of the puzzle given how personal these songs are. I felt like I was finally ready to stop running and face things head on with this record. I felt like I’d matured enough to go deeper than I ever had before, to try and understand how I get here and where I’m headed.”
Son of the San Lorenzo was recorded live to tape at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville, and features another modern day country music savior Charles Wesley Godwin guesting on a track, as well as appearances from Country Hall of Fame harmonica player Charlie McCoy, SteelDrivers banjo player Richard Bailey, and Peter Keys of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The title of the new album makes reference to the Santa Cruz Mountains of California where Jesse Daniel was raised. He’s always brought a bit of the Bakersfield and California hot electric sound to his style of country, and fans can expect no different from the new album. You can already tell simply from the track list this will be a personal one for Jesse, with the song “Jodi” named after his life partner, band mate, and frequent co-writer. “One’s Too Many (And A Thousand Ain’t Enough)“ is probably about his sobriety.
Jesse Daniel says about the lead single “My Time Is Gonna Come,” “When I was writing this song, I thought a lot about my life. It has been a pretty incredible journey and as I sat there, I thought back on all the work it’s taken to get to the point I’m at. All the road behind me and the road ahead. In the past, I’d anguish over the outcome or success of what I was doing, and it often took the love out of it for me. This song is essentially a realization that music, art and life are more about the journey than they are the destination.”
Jesse Daniel and his kickass band will be performing at the brand new Skinny Dennis in Nashville this Friday (3-28). Son of the San Lorenzo is now available for pre-save/pre-order.

Single sounds great. I thought Countin the Miles was a slight step down so this is particularly encouraging.
Wonder if the title track is a new arrangement? Love the version from Rollin On but putting an old song in the 2 slot suggests at least a different take?

The song Son of San Lorenzo was the first song I heard of his. It got me listening to him, I been a fan ever since. He played a small venue near me in Philadelphia. I bought tickets but something came up and I missed the show. I hope he comes through this way again. The Skinny Dennis show, should be cool, he may roll out a couple new tunes.

Yeah bit odd to be redoing one of the best songs from his career on this. But I’m excited. Rollin On is one of my all time favorite albums but I feel like he hasn’t quite hit those heights again. But he’s got so much talent plenty of reason to hope he gives us another all time great album

saw him last year in KC for 15 bucks on a Friday night. The crowd was small and I felt bad for him. I hoped he didn’t think KC hates his kind of music! I’ll pay to see Jesse anytime he comes to town.

I love his music. I saw him at a small hole-in-the-wall joint in NYC last year, but had to leave early in order to make the train home.

This guy has got to be one of the most authentic Country acts on the planet. Countin the Miles was excellent and based on the new single this one should be just as great.
