KOKEFEST Unveils Killer 2022 Lineup
No, not all country radio stations suck. Some are downright badass. KOKE-FM out of Austin, TX is one of them, comprising one of the numerous Texas-based radio stations that regularly play artists in the Texas and Red Dirt world, along with more classic artists and some of the mainstream stuff that’s decent. They’ve also put on a kickass festival now for five years where devotees to the KOKE world congregate.
Maybe it’s just a symptom of how everything is better with the Turnpike Troubadours, but the 2022 lineup for KOKEFEST really is killer. It has it all. Along with the boys from Oklahoma, you have a true country music legend in Clint Black, some of the best current artists coming up in traditional country in Randall King and Triston Marez, the soulful Larry Fleet, the Southern rock of The Steel Woods, rodeo country mainstay Aaron Watson, the always-energetic American Aquarium, Texas songbird Jamie Lin Wilson, and one of the most buzzed about up-and-coming songwriters, Tanner Usrey.
There is also a “legendary special guest” and another artist for the lineup still to be announced.
It’s all going down at Hutton Park at Brushy Creek just north of Austin, and having attended this festival before, it’s a really well-curated event on cool grounds. Save for the August heat in Texas, it’s just about perfect. But that’s what beer and water are for.
“We are so pumped about KOKEFEST this year. This is our 5th year and the fans and musicians have made this into an event we are all proud of,” says KOKE-FM Operations Director Eric Raines. “Once again, our lineup has something for every fan. Our vision has always been to up the entertainment and experience both on and off the stage and this KOKEFEST won’t disappoint—it will be the summer’s biggest party!”
The Lineup Is:
Friday, August 5: Clint Black, Aaron Watson, Randall King, Larry Fleet, and Triston Marez
Saturday, August 6: Turnpike Troubadours, Special Guest, American Aquarium, TBA, The Steel Woods, Jamie Lin Wilson, Tanner Usrey
Tickets go on-sale Friday, April 8, at 10:00 A.M. CST at kokefest.com.

could the special guest be farm aid co-founder, neil young, who has been known in the past (say, for example, a shot edited out of the last waltz) for enjoying koke?* 😉

One woman artist? That’s a bummer. So much talent out there, so little imagination from the promoters

Happy,
Please, let’s not start this again. It’s a good lineup, leave it at that.

That Saturday lineup is great aside from American Aquarium. I’d like to maybe see Bri Bagwell or Courtney Patton or Kaitlin Butts added to the lineup just to give it a little more of a female presence.

Not sure if it’s because it’s a festival and in Hutto Tx, but whatever Kokefest did for ticketing, other venues need to follow. Considering TP has sold out every show in seconds to scalpers and third party ticketing companies, tickets are still available for both days with only the sat VIP tickets sold out. I’m a local and have been to every Kokefest and seen the best and worst of the festival, they did a good job at distributing tickets.
Now ticket prices, that’s another issue. That’s not just Kokefest, it seems to be every semi big show going on. Tickets prices have skyrocketed. I get it, covid and inflation but damn, I’m not use to the sticker shock yet.

Yes, I saw they were enacting a really robust ticketing system to keep out scalpers. Good to hear it worked. As far as prices, yes, everything is going up, tickets too. I’ll say though, and you know because you’ve been there before, they do a pretty good job with their show. It’s not just your average field festival. They put a lot of effort out to make it a cool experience.

Considering this festival is in Aug and dead heat of summer, Koke FM does a great job with the festival. No complaints as it gets better every year and one of the reason’s I keep coming back. They did a really good job on the 2 day lineup this year over the last couple, the whole Koe crowd isn’t my thing. Considering who they could have picked, this is a pretty diverse lineup that will appeal to just about any live music fan.

I imagine the special guest is Robert Earl Keen

Thats my guess. Considering it’s his “last” tour and those days are open on his tour schedule. If its not REK, my vote is for Mike and the moonpies or Jack ingram.
But ill be happy as long as it’s not koe wetzel.
