Miranda Lambert Says CMA Entertainer for Garth Brooks was “Bull$hit”
![](https://savingcountrymusic.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/miranda-lambert-garth-brooks.jpg)
The 2020 CMA Awards are coming up on Wednesday, November 11th, and both Ashley McBryde and Miranda Lambert will be big players in the awards this year. Miranda leads all nominees with seven nominations total, including for Album of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year beside fellow female artist Carrie Underwood—the first time two women have been nominated for the award in some 20 years. Ashley McBryde is nominated for Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and with Miranda for their remake of “Fooled Around and Fell In Love.”
One person they won’t have to worry about competing with in 2020 is Garth Brooks. The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year recused himself from consideration for the award in July after the blow back last year when he walked away with the award, and many believed either Carrie Underwood or Eric Church should have won it. Some were rooting for Carrie with the emphasis that was being put on the women of country at the 2019 CMAs, and Eric Church was the man with some of the biggest touring numbers during the eligibility period.
Many gave credit to Garth Brooks for taking himself out of contention, and you can’t blame him personally for voters awarding him Entertainer of the Year. But there’s still some bad blood out there coming from many in the country community, including Miranda Lambert, apparently.
“I think last year was b[ullshit] and that Carrie Underwood should have taken it,” Miranda Lambert told the LA Times recently in a rather candid conversation with both Lambert and Ashley McBryde. “I’m still a little bit grudge-y about it. Although I love Garth—he was my first concert when I was 10 years old—there’s times and places for things, and I just felt like it was the wrong thing. But this year I’m excited because I feel like it’s the way that it should be. And maybe that’s because he pulled out of it; I don’t know. But I think everyone in the category deserves to be there.”
Ashley McBryde said on the matter, “I know there are people that are upset about it and people that are delighted about it. But [Garth] doesn’t do anything that he hasn’t thought through completely.”
Miranda Lambert replied to McBryde’s assessment, “That’s a nice answer…”
There were quite a few other nuggets that came from the LA Times feature, including Ashley McBryde naming off Tyler Childers as the most underappreciated artist in country right now. “He’s as country as a homemade sock, so there’s no reason he shouldn’t be played on country radio,” McBryde said. “He’s got the beard — the only thing missing is the ball cap.”
Miranda Lambert named Elle King as her most underappreciated artist, who appears on the Musical Event of the Year-nominated “Fooled Around and Fell In Love” with Miranda, McBryde, as well as Maren Morris, Tenille Townes, and Caylee Hammack.
Miranda and McBryde also spoke about the challenges facing women in country music these days, which they say are still present, but appear to be improving. “When it comes to the gender-equality thing, there are some things that are complete crap and there are some things that are pretty valid,” McBryde said, while praising the idea of perhaps having more gender-specific categories in country awards to allow more women to compete, something Dale Watson’s Ameripolitan Awards do.
The biggest competition Miranda, McBryde, and everyone else will face on Wednesday night will be Luke Combs, who is up for Album of the Year beside the two women for his mega record What You See Is What You Get, and is also up for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist, Single, and Song of the Year. Having amassed a year in sales and streams that’s nothing short of historic, he’ll offer stiff competition in all the categories he’s nominated in.
But at least it won’t be Garth Brooks, who by his own words, has received more than his fair share of awards over the years, and is willing to cede the podium to newer stars, even if some aren’t willing to forgive and forget just yet.
November 8, 2020 @ 12:30 pm
Or….A tabloid “news”paper article came out about celebrities grandstanding over how their identity entitles them to a trophy given out at a fake country music pageant.
November 8, 2020 @ 1:16 pm
I think Miranda Lambert and Ashley McBryde answered the questions thrown to them, and I didn’t feel like anything they said on the issue of women in country was “grandstanding.” I thought it was measured, and important especially when McBryde acknowledged that some of the concerns are “complete crap,” while others are “valid.” I tend to feel the same way about the issue as well. We all should want women to get a fair shake. Overblowing the issue to the point where it arguably hurts the prospects for women as opposed to helps them like many woke journalists do is “complete crap.”
November 8, 2020 @ 1:30 pm
I want everyone to get a fair shake. Implying that it is time for it to go to someone because of their identity totally negates that “fair” concept because it’s patronizing and discriminatory by definition. I understand the talking points and mental gymnastics, but for me it’s just easier and more honest to say that awards, cheesy as they are, should be given out based on the quality of the music. Any deviation from THAT, no matter the excuse, is what’s bullshit. Now, of course, my assertion that the CMAs has anything to do with quality of music, is also bullshit.
November 8, 2020 @ 4:43 pm
Garth feeling like he has to pull out is what’s bullshit. Alan Jackson kept winning and he said you need to quit giving me awards and give it to the young ones or they won’t come back (paraphrasing). Let them win when they are good enough. I wouldn’t consider most of today’s country music country. Garth is always first class. You don’t hear men talking shit about women. It’s a competition. Carrie beat men and women in her competition. Her and Garth are the same level talent. Carrie can sing anything. None of these people would be entertaner of the year if you ask me. Maybe this is why woman have issues. Until I read this I loved Miranda.
November 9, 2020 @ 1:00 pm
If you can only win because someone dropped out due to your whining then maybe you’re really not a winner.
November 9, 2020 @ 1:21 pm
I agree!!!!! Stop whining!! If you can’t win, you just can’t win!!! Stop saying someone should have dropped out for people to have a chance! Step up your game if you’re losing!!! Simple!
November 10, 2020 @ 9:08 am
Why the he’ll don’t you shut up the world is in such turmoil and all you can only think of your selves. News flash you people are not that important any more you sure the he’ll don’t deserve that kind of money just to sing or act the people don’t really care about you we have a lot more things to take care of and worry about not you disgusting privileged Over pay self centered ass holes
November 8, 2020 @ 8:13 pm
Not sure what the “requirements” are for this award but to settle the score?
How about volume in albums sold in a given year, concert attendees as well as air play in the same year?
How does this lady stack up regarding others in this industry?
Apparently not very well since she is bitching about things.
Artist of the year is not won by those who bitch the loudest, it is won based on a number of factors all of which involves fan followers.
Are her numbers in the tank and if so?
Reinstate Garth Brooks.
November 9, 2020 @ 7:10 pm
I agree and one of the most under appreciated singer song writer in
Nashville is Jer Gregg
November 8, 2020 @ 6:32 pm
I think miranda Lambert is not a good. Person and a poor sport Garth is 10 times better singer than her miranda they should not give the spoiled brat anythong
November 8, 2020 @ 8:08 pm
And here we go…
November 8, 2020 @ 8:22 pm
“Here we go”?
Care to elaborate?
November 9, 2020 @ 10:07 am
See my comment down below.
November 9, 2020 @ 7:10 pm
“Here we go…”
“What is it about an article that touches on Miranda Lambert (no matter how much or how little) that brings the f’ng nutjobs (on both sides of the aisle) out of the woodwork?”
The article that you are talking about that “touches Mirands Lambert”?
It’s this article itself. In it she it bitch’n about an award that she thinks she can win.
She slams Garth who would win it he if did not pull out for no reason.
“Some of you people have lost your goddam minds and should never be allowed near a keyboard again?”
Never, we are those that appear in your worst nightmare.
We see the fraud that she is playing to get herself elected as the entertainer of the year but without Garth Brooks in the running?
Wow, she didnt even make the top 5 for female artist of the year.
Listen up lady, Amricans are tied to the “gove me what I am entitled” brats of this world.
Earn your keep and shit the hell up!
November 9, 2020 @ 8:54 pm
This is just as bad President Lection
November 10, 2020 @ 5:27 am
Sounds like Miranda didn’t think Carrie Underwood was strong enough to win it when Garth was in the running. If you need to have a winner pull out in order to win, you’re a loser.
November 8, 2020 @ 8:36 pm
Personally, I think women in country music have been overshadowed by men but Miranda & Carrie both are awesome and won many awards. I think they managers need to bring back more Toby’s, Alan’s & Brooks & Dunns!! Toby Keith has been overlooked a lot through the years and hes still killing it at concerts! Garth has been Superman a long time but its time to spread the awards to those still working for the fans and putting on the shows!
November 8, 2020 @ 9:53 pm
You better do your research if you think Garth Brooks is NOT putting on shows & working for his fans. Have you seen this man perform? He can do 2 shows a night staying on stage in the background out of respect when his wife sings or the opening band. He only leaves to shower in between shows. He only slowed down because of Covid. And he has still down concerts during this for his fans to go to drive inn to see. On top of that he also does a life show every Monday night for his fans.
November 8, 2020 @ 9:03 pm
And that’s all you can say about Miranda Lambert at least she hasn’t lip sync to her music on stage at a awards show she ain’t bitchin just telling it like it is
November 9, 2020 @ 6:10 am
Get over it already!! Garth lip synced ONE TIME and he explained why . If you do your research there are several artists whose lip sync their own music a lot and there are even those that have been paid and they lip sync their own music. Get a freaking life you sound like that whiny self-pitying little baby Eric Church who doesn’t hold a candle to Garth and never will!!!! While I’m at it Miranda Lambert needs to get a life and stop whining. People need to realize that you can’t change the past and there is no point in dwelling on it. All that does is make yourself miserable but if that’s your choice that’s your choice . There are so many other things to be concerned with in life. Changing the past is not possible but changing the future is and that’s what people need to look towards.
November 9, 2020 @ 9:20 am
1) Miranda didn’t’ say Garth was bad. She said him winning was BS. Which is true.
2) Neither were “dwellng.” They were interviewed about the upcoming ceremony and asked the question.
3) Sick of hearing women labeled as complainers or bitches because they speak up about the disparities against women in the industry. Which is what Cutter doesn’t realize in his first comment – no, their identity doesn’t mean they should immediately be handed out awards. However, we have to realize that this whole system benefits male artists. Look at the radio charts versus sales. There is clearly something going on. Speaking up about your experience to help others is not bitching.
November 9, 2020 @ 4:08 pm
Miranda needs to go back on her farm with her husband and bail more hay. I’m so sick of her being a ball baby . Leave Garth and BLAKE alone. Let by gones be by gones and appreciate what you have been blessed with.
November 10, 2020 @ 4:41 pm
Nah, she’s bitching. The most awarded female cm artist in history of country awards, winning when she didn’t have any new songs/albums out, couldn’t fill venues, still winning. Did she ever say, maybe I should make room for some of the new women that are killing it in country? No, she didn’t, yet she expected Garth to do it.
November 8, 2020 @ 10:24 pm
C’mon i wouldn’t mind seeing Miranda in a thong.
November 9, 2020 @ 11:54 am
I’ve theen her in thongs loadtha timeth
November 9, 2020 @ 11:05 am
Maybe you should get help with your writing. A third grader has better punctuation and grammar skill than you do. Instead of offering baseless and negative comments about other people maybe you should work on yourself.
November 10, 2020 @ 5:15 am
The same can be said about you. You just downgraded someone. Shame on you
November 12, 2020 @ 10:35 am
I so tired listening to whining I done with awards and listening to cry babys is that not wrong with the world today let’s give the babys what they want and they all just loss and fan
November 9, 2020 @ 4:29 pm
She is nothing but a whiny winch!
November 12, 2020 @ 7:22 pm
And Garth pulled himself out and Miranda still can’t win!! #ByeMiranda
November 10, 2020 @ 10:49 am
I think Miranda’s answer was bullshit. It isn’t like Garth puts himself up for or votes for himself in these goofy awards. If that is who is voted for then they should win it. I like Miranda’s music but she just needs to STFU and sing. Jealous much?
August 1, 2022 @ 3:31 pm
I don’t take Miranda Lambert serious since she supports lgbt interest! And since some of her songs don’t sound like country songs! As far as country music or any awards shows why should they get an award when they make millions off of us! The last people in this world we need as role models are entertainers and fake politicians like Pelosi and Biden! We need Doctors, Nurses, Police, Military, Firefighters, and 1st Responders more than entertainers and so called professional sports persona!
November 8, 2020 @ 6:31 pm
II feel the most over looked country singer is Gary Allen. Hands down
November 8, 2020 @ 9:30 pm
I love country music. I am a Miranda Lambert fan. I have some of her CDs. I am also a huge Blake Shelton fan. As for entertainer of the year…let it go to the best deserving artist. An under represented artist is Dirks Bentley. It’s time he wins something. As wonderful as she is, I am not a Carrie Underwood fan nor am I Garth Brooks fan. Just saying…
November 9, 2020 @ 11:43 am
I believe the only thing missing in all awards is transparency. Show how a person was chosen on what merit and numbers. Then when anyone complains regardless of the reason you will have proof.
Then when it goes to the public to vote…again transparency. Whomever wins at that point is based on the public.
I don’t know when the world went and made easy stuff complicated.
Everyone matters and everyone has a chance. Just show how you got to a conclusion and no one can complain.
November 9, 2020 @ 8:20 am
A man of culture here
November 9, 2020 @ 12:42 pm
I agree Gary Allen is phenomenal the man is never praised for his music I personally don’t think anyone alive can sing as well as he does
November 8, 2020 @ 8:10 pm
1. The LA Times is not a tabloid.
2. I should dislike Miranda Lambert because I’m team Gwen and some of Miranda’s fans are psychotic and horrifying. So the fact that I think her music is amazing and I play it all the time says a lot. She has won a lot of awards and deserved them.
3. Most underrated is, Mickey Guyton.
November 8, 2020 @ 10:01 pm
LOL You’re almost endearing.
November 8, 2020 @ 11:00 pm
Usually, condescension annoys me. But I’m so happy Biden and Harris won, I don’t care ????
November 9, 2020 @ 8:30 am
You’re a real gracious in defeat and humble in victory type.
Trump still has a month or so to make his case though and then hopefully he pardons Assange, Snowden and declassifies everything before the establishment takes over again. Real left wingers should be OK with this.
November 9, 2020 @ 8:42 am
Steven, sure. And the Jets are going to really rally and win the Super Bowl.
November 9, 2020 @ 9:23 am
Im sorry to tell you this, but the election isn’t officially over. News stations can’t name the winner. The states have to and not all of them have yet. Biden will most likely win, but as of now he hasnt.
November 9, 2020 @ 10:25 am
Rusty, last electoral college number I saw was 290 to 214.
He LOST. If he was a real man he would graciously concede, golf a lot and occasionally appear on Rush Limbaughs show to rant.
His lawsuits are ridiculous and are being quickly dismissed by extra snarky judges. (Watch last night’s John Oliver. It’s funny)
I hear Jared Kushner and Melania are encouraging him to concede, I hope he comes to his senses, even briefly, and does it.
November 9, 2020 @ 11:35 am
Relax everyone.
Some people might want to have a seat.
For it’s about to get real.
“Gather ’round children … “
November 9, 2020 @ 11:43 am
That was on news stations. They’re the ones calling it. They dont have to power to call it. The states have to call it, and Arizona, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Nc are still counting. Did you not see where I said Biden will most likely win? As of now it is not official. So no, no one has won or lost.
November 10, 2020 @ 5:34 am
Miranda sounds like an effin crybaby with a chip on her shoulder.
November 10, 2020 @ 11:22 am
Miranda is awesome and atleast she ain’t afraid to speak her mind. Garth has won a lot of awards over the years. I Completely agree with her.
November 10, 2020 @ 12:21 pm
Yes
November 10, 2020 @ 12:31 pm
Miranda lambert deserves every award there is she works her butty of for country music and she is realcountry i love carrie but she is not that much of a country singer she is better of singingchristian music and all u shit heads on here who are probably shits fani an pig face shitsshelton fans you just love the chance to put miranda down because she aint scared to voice her opinion and she speaks the truth so u can all go and boil yore heads
November 8, 2020 @ 12:53 pm
To Ashley’s comment, I’d argue ain’t nothing missing from Childers, he’s as real as it gets. Ain’t nobody rocking Stetsons in East Kentucky. Tyler wears what the rest of us wear….a ball cap. If you ain’t ranching or rodeoing rocking a cowboy hat makes you a poser. Some of them big name male country acts go jeans shopping on Rodeo Drive, yet they get hot country air time.
November 8, 2020 @ 1:11 pm
Though I don’t want to speak for Ashley, I think what she was trying to say is that if Tyler wants to be played on mainstream country radio, he should wear a baseball cap to fit in with the male douche crowd they regularly play, and who wear caps as a fashion accessory. Ashley may be taking for granted that Tyler is known to wear a baseball cap, though I believe the majority of the time he rolls with no headgear at all.
November 8, 2020 @ 9:33 pm
Miranda has lost my respect and so has Luke Combs
November 9, 2020 @ 7:10 pm
What did Luke do Janet? Charge you too much for a brake job?
November 8, 2020 @ 6:09 pm
I think Miranda Lambert deserves it this year
Carrie Underwood has had it before
Miranda has learned it . It should be her year
Seriously please give her her do!!’
November 8, 2020 @ 7:24 pm
Miranda Lambert Doesn’t deserve it!! She for sure has won plenty!
Music it’s that Great.
Carrie Underwood way better than her . Garth Brooks is the Best out there and your just jealous your not as him or you would not be complaining! If there any one who really deserve it other than Garth Brooks it’s Keith Urban!
He amazing best guitar ???? player ! So Stop winning. Grow up.your acting like 2 years old!
November 9, 2020 @ 6:15 am
I agree that Keith Urban definitely deserves entertainer of the year. He does so much for his fans and he puts so much of himself into his music of the same as Garth Brooks does. I would love to see Keith Urban and George Strait collaborate, it would be such an awesome collaboration and sound!!
November 9, 2020 @ 7:25 am
Dee Manning
In TIME you will care!!!
Lol
November 9, 2020 @ 1:50 pm
I’m not trying to bring politics into this, but can’t help it lol…
New generation of country singers: ‘Merica fuck yea, fuck socialism!
Also new generation of country singers: That’s not fair! The best person is getting all the awards, we want our fair share!
November 10, 2020 @ 6:27 pm
The new generation of country singers vote for socialism. Which is why they think they deserve awards. Soon everyone will get a participation trophy.
November 8, 2020 @ 1:13 pm
…”I’m still a little bit grudge-y about it. Although I love Garth—he was my first concert when I was 10 years old—there’s times and places for things, and I just felt like it was the wrong thing. But this year I’m excited because I feel like it’s the way that it should be. And maybe that’s because he pulled out of it; I don’t know. But I think everyone in the category deserves to be there.”…
What a fantastic, thoughtful, coherent reason Miranda gave. I’m exceedingly impressed with how articulate she is.
November 8, 2020 @ 1:43 pm
Pulling out doesn’t always avoid conception. It seems Garth is still everyone’s daddy issue, sad as that is.
November 8, 2020 @ 4:32 pm
You all get rich doing what you enjoy doing. You get an awards show, like everyone else, and their all bullshit. And then you make a big deal out of all this crap. Bunch a spoiled brats, that sing pop. They killed country music off along time back. Try being thankful that anyone listens to you at all.
November 8, 2020 @ 6:41 pm
Just for shits and giggles, why not donate the money they spend on these shows and give it to the Americans who are about to or have lost everything due to the covid virus hitting normal folks instead of those who don’t have to worry about money ( hungry idots) or give it to Johnny deep who might since his career is over for a few years, oh I forgot he owns a couple islands never mind. Gareth got it cause he did two whole concerts, using old material last year. Running around fat and sweaty. People must have felt sorry for him. Meantime thank the good lord Blake and qwen won something they are so “Tammy and George” ????????(not)????????
November 8, 2020 @ 9:59 pm
Again I’m not a huge fan of Garth, I am just telling it like it is.
But in regards to your comment Garth wears Wranglers. But I understand what you are saying.
You Terri need to research your information about Garth Brooks
November 9, 2020 @ 6:32 am
Terri, you need to do your research on Garth Brooks. He did 30 concerts last year and in conjunction while he was doing that he also did a dive bar tour which included going to bars all over which didn’t even end till February of 2020. Garth also puts on a live show every Monday night. Entertainer of the year is about so much more than doing concerts. It’s about working for your fans and he does that constantly.
My suggestion is this before you start to whine about an artist you do your due diligence and do the research.
November 9, 2020 @ 8:17 am
Sounds like you need a new therapist the one you have is not doing it for you.
November 9, 2020 @ 9:59 am
It’s Garth. Not Gareth. It’s Depp. Not deep. Blake and Gwen have never claimed or want to be Tammy and George. 2 duets with his fiancé means nothing. But I do agree it would be good to see funds going towards Covid relief.
November 8, 2020 @ 2:30 pm
Ok
November 9, 2020 @ 11:11 am
I love Miranda, she is one of the very few true country artists in today’s music, but she is 100% wrong here. The award is ENTERTAINER of the year. Garth never fails to entertain, period! He has sold out every show in his last tour, 4 or 5 nights in the same city in some cases. As far as this year, during the pandemic, all she has done is travel in an RV and post pictures of her shirtless husband on social media. Meanwhile, Garth is STILL entertaining with his Studio G, his FB live events every single week, sometimes more than once a week and he also did a drive-in concert (pretty sure that sold out too). Some may match his efforts, but I can promise you, there isn’t a harder working country artist out there. You’d also be hard pressed to find one who loves what they do as much as Garth does. While I respect what he was trying to do by withdrawing himself from consideration, I disagree with his decision to do so. If you want to be the best, you’ve got to beat the best!
November 9, 2020 @ 12:28 pm
Traci I ???? agree with you! Garth is a TRUE Entertainer Of The Year! I like Miranda’s music although I don’t listen to her as much because I really lost a lot of respect for her when she just didn’t care about whose relationship or marriage she broke up! When she posted a pic in a bathroom where she wrote on the mirror with her lipstick, “I do what I want, because I can” my respect for her went out the window! That’s pretty sad when someone doesn’t care about what they do to others! I feel the only reason she stays with her shirtless husband is because of all the attention he gets! For me personally he does nothing for me… not my type…
November 10, 2020 @ 1:58 am
Dead on Traci. Every word!
November 8, 2020 @ 4:31 pm
Well shoot! I banned all the pro sports NFL and all of them for not being American and flying the FLAG and honoring VETERANS and this country.
So if country stars think there too damn good to stand there and receive an Award while bashing their fellow singers and those who helped them along the way I say kick them off the show just for being plain down right disrespectful. It shows they are just simple losers and puts a bad taste in my mouth.
Who does Miranda think she is and oh, by the way? Have you ever served in the military?
I will never go to one of your concerts!
November 8, 2020 @ 8:24 pm
I served in the military and I’m watching the NFL right now as I type this. I’ve never felt disrespected by them at all. They didn’t badmouth me nor disrespected me. In fact, they honored us vets in a very big way today on their pregame shows.
November 8, 2020 @ 8:59 pm
Thank you.
November 9, 2020 @ 5:37 am
The only reason they honored vets is to try & recoup some of their viewership. Recoup some of the lost revenue.
I too, served in the military, around the globe.
Scrap the EOTY award, and spend more time on Charley Pride, as well as, some of the country greats, whom country has lost this year
November 10, 2020 @ 8:06 pm
You couldn’t be further from the truth! They have been honoring our veterans for many years, LONG before Kaepernick took a knee. I don’t think they lost much revenue from it either.
November 8, 2020 @ 1:28 pm
How n why is Miranda bashing Garth Brooks for receiving an award that the fans weighed in on that decision. I fully respect him for removing himself from this years contention. He has received a lot of awards over the years but he’s earned every single one. I’ve seen him live over 20 times n he brings the energy n excitement to every concert. I haven’t seen 2 in a row that resemble any of the ones preceding it. I don’t understand her bitterness.
November 8, 2020 @ 5:03 pm
She isn’t bashing Garth. She praised him. She just thought Carrie deserved it last year. She ain’t bitter. The award is not votes by fans.
November 9, 2020 @ 7:57 am
The fans don’t vote for this when it comes to the cma awards. It’s industry professionals and around 7,000 or so cma members.
November 9, 2020 @ 7:59 am
I agree 100%. It all boils down to this: They think their chances of winning EOY go way down when Garth is in the mix…and they’re correct in that assumption. So instead of stomping their feet and whining about they should perhaps be writing more songs, putting out better music and touring more. Maybe then they would understand. To beat the best u gotta be the best!
November 8, 2020 @ 1:31 pm
Garth Brooks is a living country Legend I don’t see why he has to pull out of anything especially for some newbies I will never listen to Miranda Lambert again I think she is BS what she doesn’t want to compete with a true legend
November 8, 2020 @ 1:35 pm
What if the people who voted for Garth genuinely think he did a better job than the bunch of broads she rattled off? Are they wrong? She’s lucky Garth stepped out because he would probably win if he was still in it.
And what’s she going to say when Luke Combs wins? Who will she blame then?
And what qualifies her as the authority on the subject? She hardly gets her own music played on my local mainstream country station. Garth worked his ass off to get where he is. She and Carrie Underwood won a contest to get where they are. Garth has more country in his big toe than the two of them put together.
November 8, 2020 @ 2:53 pm
Many good points and may I add that ENTERTAINER of the year encompasses much more than just putting on a good show , it’s BEING the show and country music . There can only be one winner, but it doesn’t make the others all losers …unless they act like one.
November 12, 2020 @ 10:36 am
They aren’t “losers”.. They just didn’t get a trophy. They still got recognized. Dang I’d be happy just being a contender and in the same category as Garth “the legend”. I think people forget how many years in a row Brooks and Dunn won the Duo of the year…holy cow..no one stood a chance. They all make plenty of money… They aren’t hurting unless they don’t make records and that’s on them. I don’t really understand any of the awards ceramonies…. Isn’t record breaking box office sales enough recognition? There are so many people doing so many good things in the world that don’t get recognized or get the $$. And let’s not forget all the $$$$$ they spend on those gift bags… Like they can’t afford that stuff on their own?? I’m sure if you aren’t nominated you pay your way into the awards…and I’m sure it costs a pretty penny. BUT with that being said, I think it comes down to popularity….not gender.
November 8, 2020 @ 1:55 pm
Need some major nominations, awards and serious understanding that MORGAN WALLEN is the most talented country artist of our time along with Miranda Lambert.
November 8, 2020 @ 4:03 pm
Morgan Wallen is just Thomas Rhett with a mullet. Not a compliment.
November 9, 2020 @ 9:53 am
Morgan Wallen and Thomas Rhett both look like feet with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
November 8, 2020 @ 2:13 pm
Women will clean up at the Grammy-Wannabee-Politically-Correct-Make-A Statement CMA’s this year. Mark it down. It’s all about a narrative. Like most everything else in our newly awoke society.
By the way, that is not to say there are female artists who doesn’t deserve to win. There are. But one has to wonder if there will be an agenda behind it that. I rather suppose there will be.
Oh well, one can alternate to the Americana Awards for a non-political, non-narrative, non-agenda show. Yeah, right.
November 8, 2020 @ 2:49 pm
Seems extremely petty and childish to bash Garth for winning an award. He didn’t give it to himself. If you need another performer to bow out to win an award, doesn’t seem like a valid win. Just pathetic.
Here is the difference between real entertainers of the year and Miranda, Eric Church, and all the other whiners. You will never hear the true greats like Garth, Dolly, Reba, George, plus many others, knock or attack another artist. They are always supportive, encouraging, and complimentary. That’s real class. They have real love and respect for the music and the process.
If the award is so important to you that you have to whine, complain, and criticize other artist to get it, you’ll never be one of the true classic greats!
November 8, 2020 @ 3:26 pm
It was a bit disappointing when Garth recused himself from consideration for the EOTY award. Feels like a best of the rest category now.
November 8, 2020 @ 5:04 pm
Again, Miranda didn’t bash Garth. She praised him. She felt that Carrie deserved it last year. She was promoting her friend, not herself. Carrie outperformed Garth on most of the EOTY metrics.
November 8, 2020 @ 5:26 pm
Well i will bash him…..i have never liked him…he is a phony….he dosnt wear the pants in his own marrage…..so he shows the industry who wears the pants…..and pulls out….very disrespectful….stay home garth with your panties in a bunch…..you wont be missed!!
November 8, 2020 @ 7:37 pm
Deborah, as an American you need to learn how to spell correctly .. even I as a Foreigner know how to spell English words correctly. Plus, my husband doesn’t wear the pants in our marriage either and that doesn’t make him less of a man or less important than myself. Garth deserves every award they throw at him.
November 8, 2020 @ 9:16 pm
Maybe in your case your case your husband is a man…..but in this case…..garth is bashing Miranda…..and real.men dont do that!!
November 10, 2020 @ 4:55 am
You keep going around saying she didn’t bash him. Well, she does keep on saying he didn’t deserve the award. That’s bashing. Remember the comment she left on her then boyfriend’s (Anderson East) Instagram? That’s bashing too. All those times your idol won female vocalist of the year she was outperformed by Carrie. Why wasn’t she complaining then that Carrie deserved those awards. I guess when it’s her that’s winning she doesn’t care.
November 8, 2020 @ 2:49 pm
Cancel culture for White middle aged dudes is…. REAL
November 8, 2020 @ 8:01 pm
FYI, Lee Brice just tested positive for covid so not sure if your fave duet is gonna make it on the show (which sucks, I love Carly Pearce….)
November 8, 2020 @ 10:39 pm
Woah… How did you remember that I love that song???
Impressive!!!
I assume Carly could sing it solo. Or Luke Combs could sing with her since he cowrote it
November 8, 2020 @ 2:52 pm
Miranda is overrated. If Garth wouldn’t of bowed out of the entainer of the yr category you would of lost sweetheart.
November 8, 2020 @ 2:56 pm
I really hope Carrie and Miranda don’t win EOTY this year…
It’s literally a “High school superlative award” – it’s a meaningless award.
The only important awards are Album, Song, and Single of the year – and that’s a fact. Just ask Eric Church. Those are the categories that true artists care about.
The mainstream media, record labels, and egos only care about EOTY
November 8, 2020 @ 2:58 pm
Miranda Lambert is her own worst enemy. For those who think she is a good country music singer, they were just starting to get past her cheating on Blake and then whining and trying to make it his fault for years, “doing this thing called whatever she wants” and wrecking Evan
Felker’s marriage, insulting Garth publicly for doing what he thinks was right about his Awards Show performance
And now here she is weighing in on Garth again. Her Fan Base has all but disappeared. Low record sales, half empty venues at 75-80% of her concerts. If she wants to keep the fans she has left, she needs to shut up and sing.
November 8, 2020 @ 3:24 pm
We got a Blake stan over here ????????????
Back your bags & go back to Oklahoma’s Ole Red
November 10, 2020 @ 10:00 pm
Hey Arnold ????
November 8, 2020 @ 4:45 pm
I’ve seen her in concert once and all I remember is she did some silly U2 song.
November 8, 2020 @ 10:03 pm
Yep! 1 was enough for me too.
November 9, 2020 @ 8:11 am
I did some digging and the u2 song was I still haven’t found…
Doesn’t matter, bono is still the biggest windbag in the music industry. I can’t even listen to the Johnny Cash version of One.
November 19, 2020 @ 1:12 am
Which one was it, may I ask? If it was a cover of One’, that’s not so bad.
Also, Steve, Bono is not a windbag because he’s socially active and involved; it seems that you don’t like him because he’s a ‘liburl’.
November 19, 2020 @ 3:50 am
You may ask, answer is in my previous post, right above yours.
Bono is a windbag, because he’s a hypocrite and a narcissist. Which makes him the typical leftwing celebrity. If he put his money where his big mouth is, it wouldn’t even bother me that he’s a globalist and liberal. At least someone other than him would benefit from his ‘activism’.
November 8, 2020 @ 5:06 pm
Molly is a Shefani stan. Full of lies and hatred that Miranda was able to leave her cheating ex-husband who flirted with every woman in tv.
November 8, 2020 @ 6:05 pm
Oh Tammy. You again.
November 9, 2020 @ 6:28 pm
Should I be flattered
November 8, 2020 @ 8:49 pm
I am a Blake Shelton fan. Never said I wasn’t. Doesn’t change the facts as I stated them. No lies. I Grew up with country music and over all I like the old music better, too. Am I a Miranda fan – no. I dont hate her either.
November 8, 2020 @ 2:59 pm
Miranda Lambert and all the other complaining about GARTH BROOKS winning Entertainer of the year, last year, are sorry loserw
November 8, 2020 @ 3:08 pm
garth reads the LA Times article, and is sad and disappointed to realize he missed the chance to hook up with a 21 yr old miranda lambert after the divorce from sandy and before the marriage to trisha.
November 8, 2020 @ 3:26 pm
All the people that are in contention should be in it won’t people wonder I won it but would I if Garth were in it? He shouldn’t have to pull out to make others happy the vote is the vote.
November 8, 2020 @ 3:36 pm
That’s says so much for Brooks character ! And Mirandas character , He’s a stand up humble man ! As far as Miranda – this stained her reputation ! Shame on her snobby self !
November 8, 2020 @ 3:41 pm
Grain of salt, I don’t see the most decorated ACM winner of all time pulling herself out of any award opportunities.
November 8, 2020 @ 3:56 pm
Get over it. The fans voted. It’s not just your vote that counts.
November 8, 2020 @ 4:02 pm
I love Miranda Lambert, but this article left a bad taste in my mouth. Why is she bashing another artist? You want to be taken seriously? Stop putting other artists down. Fans love Garth, a lot. More than any other artist besides Taylor Swift. Fans voted for this award. Not some academy, or whatever. No one can compete with him, and no one can put on a better show than Garth. So what if he wins? Put on better shows, so you CAN compete with him. I fell in love with Miranda’s music, if she keeps doing that and puts on awesome shows. Than yeah, she’s a contender. Dont be surprised if he has a bigger following of fans though. The guy paid his dues, just like everyone else. He’s just been around longer. Thats it. I dont know the guy personally, but I doubt the award is everything to him. Ya’ll act like he’s a snob about winning an award or something. He’s gracious and respectful, and bowed out because people think he’s won enough awards. The awards don’t matter to that guy. Just putting on good music, and making people happy. Thats what matters to him, and that is all that should matter to anybody.
November 8, 2020 @ 4:12 pm
Just to clarify, the CMA Entertainer of the Year is not voted on by fans. It’s is voted on by CMA members, mostly artists, members of the industry, and people in radio.
November 8, 2020 @ 4:09 pm
Miranda is a bit “grudge(y)” about Garth winning? I’m grudge -y that she won all those female vocalists of the year awards. She even won on years where she hadn’t released any new material. Why didn’t she recuse herself from that category and give other deserving women a chance? There were times Carrie really deserved it. After all. Miranda would always say Carrie could sing me under the table. She doesn’t have a problem when it’s her that’s being nominated and winning. To me, any award show that awards the same musician in the same category year after year loses credibility. Also, I love how she’s excited because it’s the way it should be. Why because she’s nominated? What makes her think she deserves EOTY?
November 8, 2020 @ 4:26 pm
First off…. I like Miranda’s music. We have seen her 3x and she puts on a good show. But.. and this is a big but…go to a city like Chicago or New York or heck..even London and ask a few people on the street who is Miranda Lambert. You might get one or two who know who she is. Then ask them who Garth Brooks is. EVERYONE KNOWS GARTH BROOKS. As for who puts on a better show Miranda or Garth? Like you have to ask. Would Miranda sell out a 70,000 seat stadium for 4 or 5 nights in a row? That’s a big fat no. And yet Garth still does. Garth entertains the crowd for the whole 2-3 hours of his shows. Every. Single. Time. I also like Eric Church but outside of country music is Church well known? No. Most of the current crop of country music singers couldn’t carry Garth’s guitar case. Period. Now if Carrie Underwood or Eric Church wins the Entertainer there should be an asterisk beside since Garth recused himself from winning.
November 8, 2020 @ 5:01 pm
Did you even read the article? Miranda said she thought Carrie should have won, not herself. She is promoting her friend.
November 8, 2020 @ 6:06 pm
Yes… I read rhe entire article. While I’m sure Carrie Underwood is more of a ‘name’ than Miranda Lambert I still stand by my comment. Neither of these singers are in the same class as Garth Brooks. Miranda sounds a bit whiney. Bottom line is who is the best entertainer? It is a no brainer. Garth is head and shoulders above everyone else. Since Garth took his name out of the running any Entertainer of the Year should come with an asterisk because he is missing. If they want this award…work harder.
November 8, 2020 @ 10:12 pm
He sells those tickets within minutes also then adds a second show for his fans on those nights. That is a long night I was wore out but he kept going even after his band was done. He would come back on stage by himself & sing fans their favorite song. Oh by the way, there is NO sitting in your seats for a Garth Concert. He also doesn’t charge hundreds of dollars for his concerts, all seats are the same price. Except the first 2 rows they are free for fans.
November 8, 2020 @ 4:47 pm
It’s a lot of B’s, it seems like I heart radio and their competition control who is played and who isn’t, they only want to play the newbees on their label!
November 8, 2020 @ 5:05 pm
When a guy can sell out a stadium then does another night and another night , I think actually 5 and sells out in min. I would say Entertainer of the Year.
November 8, 2020 @ 5:09 pm
Not a huge Garth Brooks fan but he has more talent in his left had than there two idiots combined. No wonder Blake Shelton ditched her for Gwen Stefani.
November 8, 2020 @ 7:51 pm
Good point I’m not a big Garth Brooks fan either but they are all lucky that Keith Whitley died at a young age because if he was still here he would be the one winning every year his voice is country music period nobody can come close to that voice
November 8, 2020 @ 5:20 pm
If the other people were true entertainers, maybe they would win. Carrie was a horrible boring concert.
November 8, 2020 @ 5:29 pm
Garth Brooks deserves every award he gets nominated for regardless of what other artists think, apparently there was a reason he was nominated for the entertainer of the year award he is the bigger man to have stepped down from getting the award this year. WAY TO GO GARTH BROOKS
November 8, 2020 @ 5:31 pm
Talking about a jelus skank , no talent! Should know your place!!!!
November 8, 2020 @ 6:10 pm
Most of these singers are screamers . They don’t sing , they scream all the words. Giving them an award for country music is like everything done now, participations award. Garth and all the other’s like Him should be getting the award. These sing song people don’t deserve to be heard from. Go Country or get out!
November 8, 2020 @ 6:11 pm
So sad can’t believe Miranda is that and Eric church he is even close to the level Garth brooks is on like to see his ass in Vegas with a guitar by hisself they would laugh him ,off the stage and for Blake Shelton what a smart move Gwen awesome ????
November 8, 2020 @ 6:34 pm
What is the point of the award if you take the best competition out of it? Work harder, produce better music!
November 8, 2020 @ 8:14 pm
What is it about an article that touches on Miranda Lambert (no matter how much or how little) that brings the f’ng nutjobs (on both sides of the aisle) out of the woodwork?
Some of you people have lost your goddam minds and should never be allowed near a keyboard again?
November 8, 2020 @ 8:34 pm
Why do these people need awards anyways? They chose this profession, make more money than the average American and have fans that adore them. All that should be gratifying enough. Too many awards for everything already – please stop with all the self-adoration!!
November 8, 2020 @ 9:08 pm
If you like gwen what in the hell or you listening to Miranda for you either stand for Miranda Lambert or you don’t I am a big fan of hers and damn sure don’t give a damn about blake or gwen
November 9, 2020 @ 11:53 am
Consider the radical concept that it is possible to enjoy Gwen’s, Blake’s AND Miranda’s music, as I am living proof.
They had a bad divorce. They found partners who are a much better match for them. Everyone is happy. IT WAS FIVE YEARS AGO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LET IT GO!
November 9, 2020 @ 5:46 pm
Gwen is a scarecrow with toothpick legs!!! You are a beauty Miranda! Blake is the looser and has aged without Miranda.
November 9, 2020 @ 6:07 pm
Please seek psychiatric help ????????????
November 8, 2020 @ 11:09 pm
Entertainer of the year is based on concerts and album sales – no one sells out more concerts faster than Garth Brooks. No one sells more albums. While I haven’t seen Garth in concert (always sold out) what I’ve seen looks amazing. Carrie as winner of female vocalist is fine, but her concert is over-produced. I was excited the year Keith Urban won – he puts on one hell of a concert!
November 9, 2020 @ 6:23 pm
Your right when it comes to those country music comments.
November 8, 2020 @ 11:17 pm
Miranda is right ,Carrie can sing Miranda’s ___ under the table any day. Carrie can sing Miranda not so much. Garth can out sing them all , and he thinks more about his fans enjoying the show he does than alot of performers. I think it would be awesome for a new person to win , and let Miranda whine all the way home, instead of talking about other entertainers. Your jealous you will never be the BIG star Garth and Other good performers are. Work harder, keep your mouth shut about others and nose clean and to the grind stone and maybe you will do better in life. I hate that song It will come out in the wash.Silly.. It doesn’t matter who cheated on who (even tho we know) but that they learn something and are TRUE to their partners now and be happy with whom they have . Stop talking bad about true performers . George Strait always good. Take lessons boys and girls from this true country singer, and Garth Brooks. Now there are true winners .
November 9, 2020 @ 2:32 am
I was pleased for Garth last year but would have preferred it to go to Eric Church. I never really understood why Miranda kept winning female vocalist as I thought there were others far more deserving and making far better music. Having seen both Garth and Miranda in concert and listened to their music, Garth is way ahead of Miranda for me as an entertainer. As is Carrie Underwood and Eric Church. Personally, I would like to see the award go to Eric Church or Chris Stapleton. Fact is, like it or not, for whatever reason music by males far far outsells music by females both in terms of albums and tickets.
November 9, 2020 @ 5:30 am
Garth quit before he was sacked.
He makes a “generous gesture” and never has to face the day that he loses.
There is only so long you can ride on ego and nostalgia.
Don’t get me wrong, Garth is talented and there are enough stories to say he’s a nice guy. But he’s also egotistical and intelligent.
Ashley is the one with the most perspicacity.
November 9, 2020 @ 7:27 am
Personally, I think it ridiculous to care woe iota what Miranda thinks. There are a lot of really talented women in Country Music, but despite the awards she has been given, she is not one of them. She is okay, as in, barely acceptable. There are so many better than her. She is a bitter and not likable person who sings okay, but she has never deserved any of the awards she has been given. For her to badmouth Garth for getting the award last year is just ridiculous. He could outsell her in concerts any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
November 9, 2020 @ 7:29 am
Here is one she may know “cry cry if it makes you feel better”. Maybe they need participant trophies at the CMAs now…
November 9, 2020 @ 7:30 am
Miranda Lambert has always got on my nerves and this article has just instilled that feeling.
November 9, 2020 @ 8:16 am

Violets are blue….

BUT I’M STILL THE BOY YOUR MAMA WARNED YOU ABOUT

Roses are red
Rolling stones gather no moss…
…To keep you is no benefit.
To destroy you is no loss.
November 9, 2020 @ 9:52 am
Good for her! Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood will be considered our living legends one day with the likes of Reba, Barbara, Loretta, Dolly (all of which have won Entertainer of the Year).
November 9, 2020 @ 12:14 pm
GARTH IS A MAN WHERE HIS WORD TELLS IT..RESPECT IS EARNED HE HAS EARNED IT..WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO BE SO ERRAGANT TO WINNING CAUSE garth still would of won.he gives his fans what they pay for his music and enjoys his fans.So whoever wins is still in 2nd place so think about did you really win?Garth come back!
November 9, 2020 @ 10:13 am
I read a comment that said something about cancel culture……why? Who has the right to cancel culture anyone or thing? I’ve heard this so much recently used and I don’t like it,which nobody probley really cares but I’m voting that the use of it in any shape or form please be canceled.Sorry got off subject alls I’m going to say is I believe who ever gets the award, they all work for it and everybody wants to see there favorite win but an award doesnt lesson any of them….just not there turn yet.
November 9, 2020 @ 10:46 am
Few things are more laughable than the over-paid, over-privileged, over-indulged, complaining that they haven’t been given enough awards or rewards. I swear, entertainers are whinier & needier than a hungry 2-month-old.
But that said, do awards tend to skew towards men? Yes, absolutely, she’s not wrong. But her complaints should be addressed to the men & women who make up the Country Music Association trade group who make up the nomination and voting groups – not the contestant. But of course she’s not going to say anything directly to them because she doesn’t want to piss them off because she wants that award. LOL…
November 9, 2020 @ 11:04 am
Quite honestly, I am always going to stand for equality, but this isn’t it. Miranda’s always been about herself and her bad girl antics don’t replace depth of talent. Garth is a fabulous entertainer and should not have to remove himself from contention. He is a great crossover talent and she is not…to be honest not a fan of Miranda or Carrie Underwood voices. They don’t have breadth in their music. Maren Morris will win it eventually, because she is an amazing talent and stretches into more modern country choices. I love all the gals in The Highwomen, and Tricia Yearwood…. Garth appeals to a broader audience…like they do. Period! Win fair and square! Be bigger and better. What is the value of a win if someone has to step aside? Grow up. A few losses might give you both some humility.
November 9, 2020 @ 11:33 am
Say what you will about Miranda Lambert, but every mention she gets on this site certainly produces reactions and comments – even if it’s just a regurgitation of an article that ran weeks ago
My personal take is that Miranda was a little too emotionally invested in Carrie winning last year and she hasn’t gotten over it yet – kinda like all the people here who are irrationally invested in her personal life and still can’t get over a divorce that happened over 5 years ago.
She’s right anyway. Garth winning last year was bullshit. Underwood or Church should have won. And this year it will be bullshit if anyone other than Luke Combs wins.
But at the end of the day, it’s a popularity contest and the most deserving artist rarely wins anyway
November 9, 2020 @ 4:51 pm
Miranda did not care that Carrie didn’t win. She was, as usual, just trying to make herself look better. The only person she cares about winning is herself. Although she portrays herself and Carrie as friends, they are not. Carrie is too nice to say to reporters what she really thinks of Miranda. I bet you can’t find one single instance where they have spent any time together that was not for business because Carrie has way too much class to be friends with Miranda.
November 9, 2020 @ 11:51 am
The only reason Miranda got nominated for EOTY is because she’s a woman and has a strong management team. Pollstar numbers don’t lie. In 2019 she was playing the same venues as men but selling on average 3000 less tickets than male artists not nominated. Is she going to fight that injustice by withdrawing herself from the nomination? Of course not. Just like she’s never withdrawn herself from being nominated and winning in years where she wasn’t even eligible. Her whole country awards career is built on manipulation and industry politics. Carrie actually deserves to be up there and perhaps win. Miranda doesn’t.
November 9, 2020 @ 2:00 pm
Miranda doesn’t deserve to win. She’s good at talking trash about other artists winning which means she should win the award for most contentious. Now Carrie on the other hand deserves to definitely be up there.
November 9, 2020 @ 6:36 pm
Garth Brooks is the man! Simple and plan. The reason he is the man is because he puts on a kick ass show running all over the stage! Being his freakin awesome self!! What these heifers do? Stand there singing, maybe playing a guitar…big wow. So yea Garth wins all the time because he deserves too!! Period
November 9, 2020 @ 7:32 pm
Personally. I’d like to know why Kenny Chesney was not nominated on any of the 3 award shows. He released an album with 3 singles on radio airplay and 2 videos out in 2020… Do you suppose if not for Covid 19,had he been able to perform on tour that would have turned the tables? He’s a much better performer than most of them …SMH
November 9, 2020 @ 7:48 pm
Miranda Lambert’s weird obsession with Carrie Underwood kind of reminds me of the time Kanye West stumbled drunk up on stage to try to take the award away from Taylor Swift to give to Beyoncé.
I suspect we may see the same from Miranda…that could be fun….
November 9, 2020 @ 8:31 pm
Mindy, your obsession with hating Miranda on social media is bizarre.
November 12, 2020 @ 10:50 am
LOL That was literally my first post ever on this board. But OK….
For the record, I don’t hate Miranda, I just find her weird. Carrie Underwood is a strong adult woman who is perfectly capable of speaking for herself. For Lambert to self-appoint as her mouthpiece is just creepy. But I get it, you stans gotta stan….
November 9, 2020 @ 9:37 pm
Oh Miss “narcissist” ML again. Some advice: first think, then speak. “Never shit where you eat” and never blame the others , when you’re responsible for your own failure. It was never a competition between female and male artists, but her begging for attention and a disrespect to Garth. And Carrie can speak for herself. The arrogance of ML is embarrassing.
November 10, 2020 @ 1:13 am
I think it was a great gesture for Garth Brooks to pull himself out of being nominated! PLEASE, Don’t get me wrong Garth deserves to be nominated, I know he works hard in Country music as others do, but I believe Garth Brooks is an entertainer, not just a guy who sings Country music!!
November 10, 2020 @ 6:32 am
Wow, I am amazed at all the mean comments about Miranda Lambert. I am new to country music, and love most of the artists talked about here however, can’t believe that both men and women here are calling Miranda a bitch simply because she has an honest answer. If a man were to say the same exact thing, people would just laugh it off. Miranda seems to be for supporting women in country which is endearing vs. women tearing each other down. Doesn’t sound like a whiney brat to me…It’s about time someone says something…I’ve noticed too that I rarely hear women on country radio, what is up with that?!? As a female, I would love to see more women in country being played on the radio, win awards and get what they truly deserve and have worked hard for.
November 10, 2020 @ 6:47 am
Glad to see he isn’t in the running he should loose all his award’s and tittles after he was caught lip syncing especially at his lifetime achievement ceremony. I have boycotted him and if a station starts to play his stuff I change the station or turn off the radio he should be thrown out for me is country musical Milli vanilli.
November 10, 2020 @ 6:48 am
Wow, Kyle, this kicked up quite a stanstorm. Only thing would’ve made it more perfect is if Sturgill was involved. Oh, and Covid.
November 10, 2020 @ 8:39 am
Yeah, for some reason the Garth Stans really took exception to it, and showed up for their boy.
November 10, 2020 @ 5:14 pm
can someone mention Trump so comments can hit 500, easy? thanks
November 10, 2020 @ 6:56 am
Please remind me how this is saving country music? I don’t see it. You mean saving Kyle’s blog? Hahaha.
November 10, 2020 @ 8:39 am
Nobody is claiming that posting this particular article will result in country music being “saved.” It’s one of over 6,300 articles posted on the site. If you don’t want to read it, there are plenty of other options. But the merit and discussions around the CMA’s “Entertainer of the Year” distinction are certainly relevant to the Saving Country Music discussion.
November 10, 2020 @ 7:01 am
YIKES! Not sure why Miranda Lambert is taking so much heat for an honest answer. She spoke her mind, go girl! I love Garth too and many of the artists mentioned here and wasn’t offended by Miranda’s response in the least. She was supporting other women in country which is endearing vs. women bashing each other. As a female, I would love to hear more women played on country radio, get the recognition they deserve and win the awards they’ve worked hard for. I also must say, if a man were to give the same answer that ML gave, people would simply laugh it off…
November 10, 2020 @ 8:19 am
Miranda who? Who cares what she thinks. Don’t like her…never have. Garth shows way more class than ML ever has.

I have seen Miranda in concert several times. Her voice seems like warm sunshine on my face when I was a young man. I have seen Garth many times as well. First CD I ever purchased. There is NO competition as to which is the more entertaining event. Garth’s shows are nonstop fun and inclusive. Only show I have seen firsthand that came close…. Brooks and Dunn. They are amazing.

@LIZZIE, that response was totally inappropriate. People are allowed to give an opinion, and you were the only one that had to be insulting. “Shitsfani and pig face shelton”. Where were they a part of this discussion? Any excuse to talk nasty about people that weren’t even mentioned says so much about you and the toxic fan base you belong to. This was about Miranda’s comment. If you had nothing to add to that conversation, you were better off not saying anything.

The way some (not all, but SOME) of the people are reacting to what Miranda said about Garth, and all the rest about who “deserves” what at the CMA’s,makes me wonder how many of us here (though Trigger most likely does) realize exactly how far down the road country music has gone in the period of many of our own lifetimes from being a musical form about a rural/agrarian way of life, to a lifestyle, to an industry, and then to a cold-blooded and competitive business that brings about the worst in fans, if not the artists themselves. For the life of me, as a classic rock fan who also looks for the best in Country, I really think this obsession with who supposedly deserves what awards where is really quite ridiculous, especially when it looks like some of these people are in the music business just for the awards and not the work, and whether or not the fan bases of these acts are aware of that possibility.
It only makes the case that Linda Ronstadt made about awards shows so graphically clear: “If you’re working for prizes, you’re in big trouble”.

Enjoy the ad income, Trig! 😉

Lambert is a fuckhead. None of the other nominees last year, including her pick, Underwood, can sell out a stadium in 2 minutes. Garth won, he deserved it. Get over it. This year a woman will win just to appease the SJW dildos. The CMAs suck anyway.

Miranda can speak her mind and share her opinion if she so chooses but to call it “bullshit” in regards to an award that is voted on by industry folks, I think is a little Kanye West of her. She looks like a total asshole, just like Kanye interrupting Taylor to say Beyoncé had the best video. Ok. That’s your opinion. Cool. Cast your vote for Carrie and let the votes speak for themselves. Bye, girl. She is rude and trying to make headlines because frankly, we never hear about her anymore. She had to call out Garth for choosing to sing with a track at the awards show bc his EOTY voice wasn’t up to par bc he was on tour and wanted to do the song justice for the songwriter. She actually questioned Garth Brooks’ live performing capabilities!!! Ha! Bye, girl. Miranda who? It doesn’t matter if you’re now the OG or new talent, be the BEST and WIN the awards!!! Even Luke Combs & Luke Bryan both said it doesn’t feel like a true win if you’re left wondering “would it be me if Garth was in it?” Competitors want to win fair & square not by default or bc of a need to be P.C. regarding gender bc then we get the crap we got this year with Carrie and a tie for EOTY ~ c’mon! That’s embarrassing. That was a “this is the right thing to do” kinda “win”. Not saying Carrie doesn’t deserve it or hasn’t earned it bc she has but the system is the same system that Garth has lost many awards in the past to George Strait – perhaps someone should have asked him to step aside? Never!! Most of these artists bust ass and deserve nominations & wins and a lot of it has to do w industry propaganda but that’s the business of music, unfortunately. We don’t tell the crowned winner he or she is undeserving. He won fair and square and I beg any of you to convince me why any other artist deserves ENTERTAINER of the year more than Garth (MF’ing) Brooks. It can’t be done. He’s the best and imitated by the rest!! He paved the way for this genre and without him, Miranda Lambert, you would not be nearly as successful as you have been. Tip your hat to him and allow your music to put you back in the headlines instead of disrespecting those who help pave your path to fame!

What a whiny bitch. Never will support her music again.

They make millions of dollars a year from concerts, record sales, merchandise, sponsors. To be upset because you didn’t receive your participation trophy is silly. If you need validation because the money isn’t enough, then maybe you aren’t in it for the love of the music and you enjoy it. It’s not about gender if you’re making as much money as they all do.
