Miranda Lambert Signs Traditionalist Jake Worthington to Her Label
When talking about the surge of young new traditionalists saving country music in real time, make sure you don’t forget to mention Jake Worthington. Not dissimilar to Zach Top and others, Jake Worthington has captured the greatness of ’90s country, but with new songs and a fresh face that young and old can enjoy together.
Worthington was already signed to Big Loud Records and released his well-received self-titled album in 2023. But sharing a label with Morgan Wallen, HARDY, and other huge mainstream names, it’s not hard to see how he could get overshadowed or forgotten. So as part of Big Loud’s new imprint operated by Miranda Lambert and Jon Randall called Big Loud Texas, they have decided to move Worthington over, likely ahead of a new album.
Announced on Saturday (10-5) during a Miranda Lambert Mutt Nation event benefit concert in Nashville, Jake Worthington is officially the second signee to Big Loud Texas, joining Dylan Gossett on the roster. It also comes on the heels of Worthington releasing a duet with Miranda Lambert with the NSFW title “Hello Shitty Day” (listen below).
“I’m really proud to say, I get to announce this from stage tonight,” Lambert said. “I’m a co-founder of a new label called Big Loud Texas, and our sole job is to keep the outlaw movement going and to keep the great stuff from the great state of Texas out there for the people. And as of last week, we got one of my favorite artists of all time on our label. I want y’all to welcome back to the stage my friend Jake Worthington! Did y’all hear him earlier? He is country as a biscuit, and I love it!”
Originally from LaPorte, Texas near Houston, Worthington took some times for traditionalists to warm up to since he first emerged as a contestant on The Voice, finishing 2nd on the 6th season. Ever since then, he’s hung around Texas and Nashville, refining his chops, and becoming like the Mark Chesnutt of the current generation.
“I believe in country music as much as I believe in my next breath,” Worthington says. “Blame it on my raising, but I think there ought to be room for country in country music.”
There’s plenty of room for him in Texas, and with the rising interest in traditional country music, this might be the opportunity both for Jake Worthington and Big Loud Texas to take it to the next level.

Great news, Jake is one of the best!
Love this new song but a shame it has the ‘bad’ word in so often, as it limits radio airplay immediately. 😔
And I don’t mean the big mainstream stations who wouldn’t play him anyway. But the endless amounts of independent shows and stations that DO play his music.

The song is just like icing on the cake. It’s nice that Miranda Lambert can still sing supporting vocals and doesn’t overpower the song.
Weird that a song about a bad day can make you feel good like this one does.

I’m a fan of Jake Worthington. Good old school Texas Country. Seems like a good guy as well, and liked among his peers. Hope this is successful for him.

I loved the last record, he came into Carol’s Pub and tore it up when I saw him. The nicest guy you’d ever want to meet. The duet he did with Jade Eagleson was alright too. I think this is a good move where he’ll probably be a little more of a priority with folks that believe in him. I don’t love Shitty Day, but it’s ok. Can’t wait for a new album.

The song is great. Really like everything Miranda is doing here lately. She can have so much influence propping up other Texas artists and she’s choosing the right ones to use it on. Now Miranda – if you are reading this – time to sign Grace Tyler to the label. Please?! Shane Smith has recognized her potential and he’s got her opening several shows coming up. Grace is Texas and she’s releasing some great songs but I need an album.

I love that song – expletive included. Raw honesty that is identifiable to a regular listener. Great instrumentation and presentation too. Close your eyes and you could see this guy singing along driving a rusty old F150 down a dusty Texas road…
