Morgan Wallen Camp Addresses Lack of Amazon Stream from Stagecoach

Last weekend (April 26th-28th), the annual Stagecoach Festival transpired in Indio, California, with headliners Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, and Morgan Wallen capping off each night of the event.
In partnership with Amazon Prime, many of the performances were streamed on two separate viewing channels covering many of the events entertainers. Not all of the performances were covered, but headliners Eric Church and Miranda Lambert were, including Church’s controversial Gospel/covers set.
But when the broadcast schedule for Sunday was revealed, Morgan Wallen fans quickly noticed that his name was curiously absent, including some fans who claimed they signed up for the Amazon service solely to see Wallen perform, and others who said they were ditching the service because he was excluded.
No explanation was given as to why Wallen wasn’t part of the stream, but some assumed it had to do with his history of bad behavior, most notably his recent arrest for throwing a chair off the balcony of Eric Church’s new Nashville bar.
If this was an editorial decision by either Stagecoach or Amazon, perhaps the decision deserved an explanation. Further complicating the matter, in lieu of broadcasting the Morgan Wallen set, Stagecoach and Amazon decided to stream two sets from EDM DJ Diplo. It happens to be that Diplo has his own shady history, including allegations of rape and sexual assault. Because of this, Saving Country Music chose to look into why Morgan Wallen was not part of the Amazon Prime coverage.
However, Saving Country Music can confirm that Morgan Wallen’s set was not broadcast on Amazon Prime due to a request from his own camp. After Saving Country Music sent multiple queries to Stagecoach and Big Loud Records, a representative for Morgan Wallen shared, “Morgan Wallen has a special project in the works for his fans that precludes him from participating in livestreams at this time.”
In other words, the editorial decision to not broadcast Morgan Wallen’s Sunday night performance did not come from Stagecoach or from Amazon, but from Wallen’s own people.

They did post a schedule on Sunday morning that showed Morgan Wallen wouldn’t be broadcast. But I agree that the communication could have been better, and this is what caused Wallen fans to break out the pitchforks. I think that’s also why the Wallen camp finally decided to release a statement, and why I wanted to get it out to the public.

I think with these streaming music festivals, they never advertise the event, but let specific artists promote it. They aren’t getting any new subscribers by saying “join Amazon Prime now to watch Stagecoach.” Their approach seems very artist specific. At least that’s how I’ve seen it.
Last year, it was through Tyler Childers social media accounts 48 hours before his performance at Bonnaroo that I was even aware streaming through Hulu was an option. Even that night, not all artists were streamed.
Trig, how were you notified Prime was streaming Stagecoach? Was it through an specific artist’s social media or a blanketed event post? I saw it on Miranda Lambert’s and Willie’s socials, but never saw Stagecoach promote it.
I think they leave to the artists if they want it streamed.

There were definitely press releases sent out about the Amazon Prime stream of Stagecoach, and multiple media outlets promoted it like Rolling Stone and Billboard. The Los Angeles Times even put in their headline, “Stagecoach 2024: How to stream Morgan Wallen, Miranda Lambert and other sets at home,” which didn’t help matters.
My guess is Stagecoach didn’t promote it specifically because they want to sell as many tickets as possible. The promotion of the stream came out right before the fest. Not sure if it was Amazon or someone else who paid for the promotional campaign.

With less movies being released this year cinemas are desperate for content. He’ll be following Swift and Beyoncé in having a show broadcast as a cinematic event.

I was thinking the same thing. He probably had his own crew there filming for something else.

Not showing concert footage because you want to sell more tickets to your upcoming concert footage is a page right out of the Garth Brooks playbook.
April 30, 2024 @ 9:00 pm
Garth did one during the pandemic. It was ok I guess. First artist I had ever watched a concert at a movie theater though was brooks and dunn I’m guessing maybe 2014. It was from cain’s ballroom.

You’re probably right.

When I was in college I pulled a Morgan Wallen and accidentally dropped a midsized pot out of a third floor window and hit some guy on the head. He was thankfully alright. Although maybe it was Morgan Wallen I hit.

Could’ve been,JB. Perhaps you accidentally brained Morgan .
