Muddy Roots Preview – Schedule & Lineup Announced!
In just under a month from now, the Muddy Roots Festival will be going down in Cookeville, TN (just east of Nashville) at the June Bug Boogie Ranch. With headliners Wayne “The Train” Hancock and the legendary Billy Joe Shaver, plus over 30 other bands, a car show, bike rally, and pinup contest, this is THE place to be the last weekend in May.
I’ve been saying for years the one thing the insurgent country movement needs is a good festival, and Muddy Roots is trying to become that very thing.
I’ll be getting you ready for the festival as it gets closer, and we’ll start off by giving you the FIRST look at the schedule and final lineup! Print this bad boy out, put it in your back pocket, and we’ll see you out there.

Would’ve liked to see the second stage going while the main stage was getting set up for the next band.

I’ve already got a trip planned for Memorial Day weekend this year but if this gets good reviews and is still Memorial Day Weekend next year you can bet I’ll be there.

Pearls,
It looked like he tried to do that, but with some people playing 45 min and others an hour, it got a little off. I don’t envy Jason or any Festival promoter trying to put a schedule together. Its hard and usually thankless, but they have to keep their eye on the big picture for what’s best for the Festival. Hopefully as it grows, the wrinkles will get worked out.
I attend another Festival outside of Portland called Pickathon, and they have 6 stages and each artist plays at least twice, sometimes three times. That way a scheduling conflict never gets in the way of what you want to see. As this Festival grows maybe they could do that.
