New Adds to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist (#168)

The gall on these tech pirates trying to pass off AI slop as “country” music. Rest assured you’ll only find 100% Certified genuine human emotions straight from the heart on this playlist.
The Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist is built to keep you informed on all the best songs and albums coming out right here, right now in country and roots music. It’s available on most all streaming formats (see below), or you can just use the song, artist, and album recommendations to find something new to listen to. New songs just added.
Newest Additions:
Luke Bell – “Dark House of Fools” – Luke Bell’s new 28-song posthumous album The King Is Back is full of absolute gems he left behind including this well-written ode to honky tonks that gives you classic James Hand vibes.
The Droptines – “Tombstone” – There’s not enough artists and bands attempting to revive the energy of the ’90s alt-country era that set the table for Americana and the country revolution. Now signed to Big Loud Records, The Droptines tap into that rock attitude and turn in a heater with “Tombstone.”
Kaitlin Butts – “The Middle” – Leave it to Kaitlin Butts to take a Jimmy Eat World song and make it into a sentimental and touching country tune. It’s the first taste of her Yeehaw Sessions covers EP out November 14th to celebrate her signing to Republic Records.
Joshua Hedley – “Clueless” – Western Swing isn’t out of style, not if Joshua Hedley has anything to say about it. Clarinet in a country song? Clarinet in a country song! This is what Hedley and co-producer Ray Benson declare with “Clueless” off Hedley’s new Western Swing album All Hat.
Bailey Rae – “Fresh Out Of Teardrops” – Oklahoma’s Bailey Rae makes her second appearance on the playlist with this quintessential country tearjerker written by Rebecca Lynn Howard. Country music at its finest.
Colter Wall – “The Longer You Hold On” – Only a few more sleeps before cowboy & Western artist Colter Wall drops his honky tonk album Memories and Empties on November 14th. If “The Longer You Hold On” is any indication, it could be one of the best in 2025.
Emily Scott Robinson – “Appalachia” – The title track to her upcoming album out January 30th, 2026, “Appalachia” is the perfect showcase for Robinson’s songwriting, soaring voice, and her elevated guitar playing. Strong in her passion for her home state of North Carolina, it was inspired by the devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Helene in 2024.
Grayson Jenkins w/ Emily Jamerson – “Only Wanna Love You” – Co-produced by Pony Bradshaw and featuring harmonies by Emily Jamerson, Grayson says, “It’s a love song, but more than that, it’s about meeting someone where they’re at with no expectations.”
Spencer Hatcher – “Honky Tonk Hideaway” – Spencer Hatcher has released one classic country heater after another, and “Honky Tonk Hideaway” is no different. It’s officially the title track of his first EP, and the third of the six songs on the EP to be featured on this playlist, speaking to the superior country music coming from Spencer.
Bryce Leatherwood – “I’d Be Damned” – One thing’s for sure: Bryce Leatherwood can sing ’em. He finds a super tasty double entendre to feature in his latest single.

Have you listened to Vincent Mason’s debut album, which dropped last Friday? It’s hook-filled, largely non-cliched, Americana-leaning mainstream country. I like it a lot, and just about every other song on it is better than the one the label chose to send to radio, “Wish You Well.”
November 9, 2025 @ 8:07 am
Yes it’s on my radar.

Thx, appreciate it. However, I tried searching every which way to no avail, which is why I’m thankful for the link.

If anyone doesn’t know, Jeremy Pinnell has a new album out.
November 9, 2025 @ 12:23 pm
Was very disappointed by it. Love JP

Caroline Spence covered that Middle song a few years back. I love Caroline, am not at all familiar with the original, but thought it needed just a little more assertiveness in the vocals. Done.
Liked the Bailey Rae pretty well, and if that’s your flavor the new Rosy Nolan will scratch the itch.
Way out the margins – Warren Zevon was inducted into the R&R HOF yesterday and nothing cooler is gonna happen this month.

Thoughts on Joshua Slone? Or is he just this year’s Noah Kahan? Benny Blanco is listed in his credits, but ChatGPT says that must be a mistake. I’m confused. All of Nashville (artists) are gushing about Slone and I guess he recently opened for Zach Bryan or something so he’s exploding on the scene… He appears to be from KY and I’ve seen footage of him playing at the Burl I think… seems like he’s legit.

Oh dang – sorry I missed that! Been raking leaves nonstop over here and getting ready for winter – it’s been a busy week. Reading it now.
November 9, 2025 @ 2:58 pm
Must be great-covers-week because not only did Kaitlyn deliver a killer one, 49 Win’s cover of Ozzy’s “Changes” is a magnificent slice of blues rock. Oz would have loved it. Elvie Shane also delivers a cover of “Brown Eyed Girl” that completely flips it upside down and turns it into a mournful nostalgic ballad where he longs for “Tuesdays and so slow.” When he hits the third verse and sings “So hard to find my way now that I’m all alone” I actually realized it’s a sad song. The original is so bouncy and upbeat I guess I never really comprehended it’s supposed to be a heartbreak song……

Cannot believe I’m about to type this sentence: The new Jake Owen album is really damn good. I know, I know. But I guess he’s off the majors and worked with Shooter & Kendell so that helps explain it but still…….
November 10, 2025 @ 6:42 am
It’s the most surprising (in a positive way) release by a mainstream artist in a long time. I’m so used to the reverse direction that others (Chris Young, Jon Pardi, etc.) have taken.
November 10, 2025 @ 9:00 am
As always a good listen. There is some great music around. Another recently released album I am enjoying at the moment is the new Drake Milligan album.
November 10, 2025 @ 9:22 am
Did not realize Drake released the entire album. “How Much Beer” hit my release radar but I assumed it was just another single release. Glad you posted this or I never would have checked to see the album is there. Drake is fantastic and I’m looking forward to diving into this.
November 10, 2025 @ 1:36 pm
Yup real good. My playlist this week is just new albums by Jake Owen, Drake Milligan, Jon Wolfe & Spencer Hatcher
November 10, 2025 @ 2:36 pm
Zach Top has some good stuff and some OK stuff, but I’m not really into that kind of ’90s country. Now, a ’90s ALT-country revival? Oh, yeah, I’m here for that. I grew up rocking and alt-country was one of my gateway drugs into traditional country music. All that to say: Yes, more Droptines, please.
November 10, 2025 @ 3:25 pm
I wouldn’t complain about the current ’90s revival, because it could be a lot worse. Imagine if the ’90s acts everyone was trying to duplicate were Restless Heart and Little Texas.
November 10, 2025 @ 3:47 pm
Oh, I’m not complaining. Just nitpicking, really. We’re drowning in great new country right now and I love it. If Zach Top’s new album isn’t my favorite (it isn’t), there are almost a half-dozen other albums from this year that I’m spinning over and over.
I’m glad I figured out how to love country over the last 10-15 years, because there is hardly anything at all interesting happening on the rock or blues side of things right now. (Metallica releases RererererererererererererererereLoad!)
November 10, 2025 @ 3:18 pm
Cody Jinks’ album takes the cake this year, imho.
November 10, 2025 @ 4:50 pm
Admittedly it’s “Country” bonafides are questionable, but “For the First Time” by William Prince should get some recognition IMHO.
Prince has always had a great voice, but when you pair that with Prine-esque material and a subdued production approach? Deserves some “Song of the Year” looks.
November 12, 2025 @ 7:35 am
That Conrad Fisher song is awesome!!! Wasn’t expecting such a hard hitter when I was listening to your playlist yesterday, by far my favorite song on the list, hope you add more gospel adjacent songs!
November 12, 2025 @ 12:17 pm
Benjamin Tod is probably mad as hell he ain’t on this list.
November 12, 2025 @ 1:17 pm
I do like his new single “My Pride,” and on a less crowded week, it might have been added, and might get added with the next update. We’ll see.
