New Adds to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist (#176)

Consider this playlist like that cool older brother, crazy aunt or uncle, or papaw who turned you onto an entirely different world of music when you were younger that you otherwise would have never known about.
The Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist is built to keep you informed on all the best songs and albums coming out right here, right now in country and roots music. It’s available on most all streaming formats (see below), or you can just use the song, artist, and album recommendations to find something new to listen to.
Newest Additions:
Emily Zeck – “Old Is Gold” – An incredible song here from Emily Zeck that gives you goosebumps in how it reminds you of vintage Dolly Parton. Zeck is no newcomer, but it’s been hard to tell over the years where the artist begins, and the “content creator” ends. With “Old Is Gold,” the promise of a true artist emerges.
John R. Miller – “If You Could Only See Me Now” – We’re used to getting more Appalachian folk-style songs from Mr. Miller. But country fans will be quite pleased that he’s turned in a “real weeper” as John Prine might call it, slathered in steel guitar, with irony attempting to hide the heartbreak.
Chloe Hoecker – “Treat Me Like Dirt” – It’s really reassuring to know that there are still great country songs like this out there to be written, for performers to sing, and for us as fans to discover. Composed by Allie Kliethermes, and sung perfectly by Chloe Hoecker for her new EP Missouri’s Country Sweetheart, “Treat Me Like Dirt” is country music bliss.
Charlie Marie – “Heart” – Everything feels just a little more right in the world since we have new music from stunning singer and songwriter Charlie Marie. “Heart” is the first taste from her new album Signs due on June 5th after Charlie took a hiatus from music, a journey across the American West, and is now ready to re-enter music with a renewed purpose.
Boo Ray – “Broken Hearts Are Paint” – Veteran songwriter and troubadour Boo Ray turns in a career effort with his latest single, featuring spectacular songwriting with collaborator David Newbould, and a steel guitar solo that will melt your heart.
Rachel Brooke – “The Real Pretender” – The Queen of Underground Country takes on the cosplay cowboys of east Nashville and other fakers in this delectable classic country tune about the inherent inequities in the country music scene. It’s from her upcoming album This One’s For You out April 24th.
Rhys Rutherford – “Turning Into Us” – From Ernest’s DeVille Records group, songwriter Rhys Rutherford pens a really good song about the moment early lovers evolve into a proper couple, punctuated by a pretty sick melody.
Drayton Farley – “What You Gonna Do” – “What you gonna do when you catch that dream you’re chasing?” is the question that Drayton Farley asks and answers with his new album A Heavy Duty Heart. It’s songwriting with purpose, clothed in country rock music that’s unafraid to yearn for wide and infectious appeal.

Loving the Drayton Farley album. Listened 4 times through since Friday. It’s called doubt is my early favorite but they are all winners for me

On Apple Music, it appears songs from High Top Mountain are no longer available (including “Old King Coal”) and some tracks from Metamodern Sounds in Country Music (“Life of Sin,” “Living the Dream”) are no longer available in this country. I noticed the songs were greyed out on my playlists Friday.
I have the MP3’s on a hard drive somewhere.

Interesting. I am not seeing that on my end. I don’t have any of those songs on playlists, but they’re all showing available via my Apple Music account.
Anyone else not seeing them available?

I’m “Never had a Facebook” years old ‐ so lotsa times stuff that matters to folks, just doesn’t, to me.
Emily Zeck pretty squarely in my tribe. Reckon if you tell me that she’s content creating for onlyfans I might swerve, but rn now that’s a pretty cool kid right there.
Good looking out, Trigger!

Not sure if Emily Zeck has an OnlyFans account. She does have 800,000 Instagram followers, and there sure is a lot of skin in the photos, so something is going on there. She’s been on my radar for a while, and there’s no doubt she has a throwback, vintage country sound. I just didn’t know if I trusted what was going on here. She recently had a baby, so maybe that has reset her perspective somewhat. Country music is something you can grow old with. Flashy online influencer is a little bit harder to pull off.

Fair enough, as always. Thanks!

Always appreciate these playlists. Like Harris above, love the Drayton Farley release. Anxiously waiting for Bella White, Presley Hailey, Charlie Marie and others.

I like the Rhys Rutherford and Emily Zeck tunes. I’m still loving the fact that 2 of our favorites knocked it out of the park with their current singles. Of course I’m talking about Silverada and Charlie Marie, both A+! River Shook’s new tune Wildlands is in the rotation, and while it’s not going to blow anyone away, it is a step back in the right direction for sure. Ben Jarrell dropped a new song Friday, King of Letting Go, from his upcoming album Tennessee Turnaround that’s out April 24th. Preston McCabe’s Heading West is vying for a nighttime headline slot with his awesome debut. Thanks Rich, the Sheyna Gee EP is getting a lot of spins. Love her voice!!!
April 12, 2026 @ 9:18 am
Always looking out for ya JB. Sheyna is the goods and yeah that voice is one in a zillion. And yes, Preston McCabe is presently the pride of Indiana and is country as cow shit on your boots. Krista Hoose from the Indy Annies will be playing guitar with him at some upcoming shows so if they get anywhere near you check them out.

That Preston McCabe is mighty fine.
They say not to judge books or bands, by their covers.
Hairtrigger Colt .44, tho, let’s just say that’s ambitious. Really ambitious. Dude nails it.
Wild. Looking forward to the next one already lolzz

Gotta agree with others, I am enjoying Drayton’s album more than I expected. Never been a huge fan but this one brings another dimension that is resonating with me. And I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t make a plug for one of my favorite, and criminally unknown, females Ms. Erin Viancourt. She just dropped her first single in a very long time called “Never Gonna Love This Down” and it is sitting currently at the top of my Single of the Year running list. If you think Ella can capture that 70’s vibe in the production and sound choices she makes, Erin does it by simply opening her mouth. This song has everything – Erin’s gorgeous vintage voice, a sinewy and funky country guitar line, horns, a sax solo, all set to a honky tonk backbeat. It just may well be my perfect country song come to life.

“Jukebox Blues (For Blaze Foley)” Ian Noe’s new single is great, if anyone hasn’t heard it yet.
