New Alan Jackson Album “Angels & Alcohol” Coming
Country music traditionalist Alan Jackson is set to release his 15th studio album called Angels and Alcohol on Friday, July 17th—one of the first major country albums to take advantage of the the new Friday global release day. The album includes ten new tracks, seven of which Jackson wrote himself, and comes as Alan Jackson celebrates 25 years as a country music performer. Like all but one of Jackson’s albums, it is produced by Keith Stegall. Angels and Alcohol is the followup to 2013’s The Bluegrass Album where Jackson payed homage to his bluegrass roots.
Over his 25-year career, the 56-year-old Alan Jackson has accumulated 35 #1 hits, and has sold over 80 million records. He’s been awarded the CMA Entertainer of the Year three times, won 13 more CMA Awards, has been awarded two Grammy Awards, and is a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In 2014, Jackson was honored with an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame called 25 Years of Keepin’ It Country, and also played a residency at the Hall. Jackson is also in the midst of an extended 25th Anniversary tour.
Angels and Alcohol is already available for pre-order, and is also available in a package with a limited-edition poster that will include your name.

Oh hell yes!! Sounds like he is going back the early Jackson that made him so great. Bluegrass album was great and real excited for this one.

New music from Alan, George and Sturgill all in the same year.
I see your pop country and raise you this.
April 9, 2015 @ 2:05 pm
And also most likely Jason Isbell and The Turnpike Troubadours at the very least.
April 10, 2015 @ 6:41 am
Jason Boland and the Stragglers are about due, too…
April 10, 2015 @ 9:38 am
Isbell’s is apparently in the can… no set date but he said maybe July.
April 11, 2015 @ 1:30 pm
And Willy Tea Taylor.
April 9, 2015 @ 9:36 am
If the rest of the album follows suit, this will be absolutely-fan-fucking-tastic!!!
April 9, 2015 @ 9:39 am
Yes!
Does anyone know when the new Josh Turner CD is being released? It was supposed to be March 31th.
April 9, 2015 @ 9:42 am
Yay! Just in time for my birthday… 🙂
April 9, 2015 @ 9:43 am
what an amazing name for an album. “Angels and Alcohol.”
April 9, 2015 @ 9:49 am
I’m excited, Jackson seemed creatively reborn a little bit with his Bluegrass album, maybe getting away from the major label game after so many years frees him up to cut whatever he wants.
“Mexico, Tequila, and Me” feels like a Jimmy Buffet type track that he has been (sometimes sadly) fond of cutting in recent years however,
Love the album title though.

Been looking forward to this album since he played this song at the concert i saw him at
April 9, 2015 @ 10:34 am
Where’s the synthesizer and auto-tune? This ain’t real country!
April 9, 2015 @ 10:47 am
Now that’s country.
Man, I thoroughly enjoyed that. I respect AJ, but I always found his records a little too slick. I actually think I like him better performing in a live setting with his voice unvarnished by studio gloss and with no production sweetening interfering with his performance. Hopefully, being freed from the obligation to chase radio hits at this point will allow Alan and Keith to make exactly the kind of record they want to make.
I’ll also make this prediction: This album will move more units in the long run than recent releases by bros who have had multiple hits the last couple years.

“I”™ll also make this prediction: This album will move more units in the long run than recent releases by bros who have had multiple hits the last couple years.”
It wouldn’t surprise me — fan loyalty can be a sweet thing in this age of chasing trends and increasingly fickle fans for short-term gain. 😀

I’ll hope for the best.
I saw him last year at a festival show, and he had obviously chosen alcohol over angels for support during that show. I was disappointed in the show and his seemingly indifference to his audience that night. Hopefully that was an anomaly, and he’s back on track.

“Country traditionalist” — and Cole Swindell’s duet partner at the ACM Superstar Duets special.
April 9, 2015 @ 9:03 pm
Is that for real? Cause I just saw Marty Stuart and Eric Church was added today. It’s hard to tell what’s a joke or not.
April 9, 2015 @ 12:38 pm
Yes! Alan Jackson is one of my favorites. He is such great writer and singer.
April 9, 2015 @ 12:43 pm
Great news!
April 9, 2015 @ 12:45 pm
Could you imagine how badly these songs would fail on country radio charts if he released any as singles? He stopped releasing singles years ago to my knowledge.
April 9, 2015 @ 12:45 pm
I won’t buy it! No song written by Sam Hunt or Cole Swindell?
April 9, 2015 @ 12:46 pm
This is good news. Alan Jackson maybe the whole package singer/songwriter/artist.
Fuck you bro-country!
April 9, 2015 @ 1:06 pm
I hope he never stops making music.

Just curious Trigger? Sometimes when I comment, there’s a note that mentions the comment is awaiting moderation and then other times no such disclaimer. Any particular reason for the discrepancy between posts?
April 9, 2015 @ 8:01 pm
The first time anyone makes a comment, it gets sent to moderation. After the first comment has been moderated, commenters should be able to post at will. However if you use a different device than you normally do, or maybe a different computer connection, or your IP address changes for some other reason, it may send the comment to moderation again. Once that new IP is approved as well, you should be able to post at will.
There’s also a few other rules, like if you include multiple links or lots of HTML, it may send the comment to moderation. If for some reason the system thinks the comment is suspicious, it could send it to moderation. Also certain commenters known for posting stuff that doesn’t follow the comment rules might be sent to moderation for every comment.

Thanks for the explanation Trigger.
April 9, 2015 @ 1:21 pm
All I’ve been listening to lately is Alan Jackson’s music so this is the best news I’ve heard today so far. Guy never disappoints with his albums.
April 9, 2015 @ 1:58 pm
The Bluegrass album was so damn good. I hope this continues that trend.
April 9, 2015 @ 3:11 pm
This will be on Capitol?
April 9, 2015 @ 8:03 pm
Haven’t seen anything official but I’m pretty sure it will be. I believe he’s still under contract with them.
April 9, 2015 @ 4:11 pm
That is great to hear something new from Alan Jackson.
April 9, 2015 @ 6:22 pm
Good news, can’t wait to hear it, Alan was always one of my favorites growing up and still have good stuff. Enjoyed the Bluegrass album and anxious to hear this one!!
April 9, 2015 @ 6:48 pm
Went to high school with Jackson and he was as dry witted and soft spoken then as he presents himself on stage ( that, and $5 gets me looked at funny at Starbucks).
I do hope the above alcohol over angels & audience indifference comment is an exception…
April 9, 2015 @ 11:40 pm
Angels & Alcohol sounds like his best song in awhile so hope the whole album is like that.
April 9, 2015 @ 11:47 pm
If AJ has stayed the course , this will sound SO fresh in contrast to what radio’s been playing . I’m certain we should be in for some quality stuff .
April 10, 2015 @ 5:25 pm
Been waiting on this announcement. Just picked up all of his (mostly great) albums from the bargain bins of various retailers. This man could sing anything and make it dignified.
On another note, what’s with the so-called “new Friday global release day”? I know that music, DVDs and video games have traditionally dropped on Tuesdays with certain exceptions (like certain Pokemon games getting released on Sundays), but other than that it’s been pretty consistent. What’s the story here, Trigger?
April 11, 2015 @ 8:34 am
OMG…steel guitar!! A fiddle!!! I’m in heaven!!! Classic Alan…I can hardly wait! Love it!
April 11, 2015 @ 2:56 pm
Wow, powerful song. Looking forward to hearing more from the album.
April 19, 2015 @ 8:19 pm
I can’t wait, I love this man. He can do a honky tonk song that makes me want to dance, love songs and ballads that make me cry, and gospel music that can touch the spirit.
