New Miranda Lambert Single “It All Comes Out In The Wash” Coming
This story has been updated.
The wait is just about over for new music from Miranda Lambert. And no, the lead single from her latest album due out this fall will not be the self-proclaimed “country punk rock” song Miranda debuted earlier this summer at CMA Fest called “Locomotive.” This newest Miranda ditty will be called “It All Comes Out In The Wash,” and we’ll all get to hear it 10 days from now on July 18th, with the song being sent out to stations as a proper radio single on July 29th. This was the news in the latest edition of Country Aircheck, which includes an ad for the song from RCA, as well as the add alert for radio professionals.
According to radio/chart expert Chris Owen, the song was written by Miranda Lambert, as well as The Love Junkies, a.k.a Lori McKenna, Liz Rose, and Hillary Lindsey.
Miranda Lambert has been teasing the hell out of the new album lately, saying to the Chicago Sun-Times in June, “I would call it old Miranda, but a Miranda at a whole new level, if that makes any sense. It’s not going to be love song overload or anything like that. [Laughs] I made a career on being a rock and roller and I think fans are going to hear that throughout. And yeah, there is this vibe of being happy that goes through this album. I am really, really happy.”
Lambert also intrigued fans by revealing that for the first time in her major label career, she’s working with a different producer. A long time collaborator with producer Frank Liddell, Miranda is now going with well-known mainstream country producer Jay Joyce on the upcoming record. Where Liddell is known for being a loose and organic producer, and for being the husband of Lee Ann Womack, the reputation for Jay Joyce is of more of a rocker, primarily from his work with Eric Church and Ashley McBryde.
A new Miranda Lambert single is significant for a host of reasons, including to see just how much the Jay Joyce switch influences her sound, and how serious she is about going back to her earlier, more hard-edged material. It will also be interesting to see if those bastards at mainstream country radio will play it. Her last singles “Tin Man” only made it to #22, and “Keeper of the Flame” fizzled out at #55. “It All Comes Out In The Wash” could be an important bellwether in both mainstream country, and Miranda Lambert’s career.

Wow. Talk about four powerhouse writers in the same room. That title is brilliant – can’t believe it hasn’t been done before!
July 8, 2019 @ 7:00 pm
Since you mentioned Ashley McBryde, have you heard a release date on her album ?
July 9, 2019 @ 9:43 am
Have not seen anything about a new Ashley McBryde album as of yet.
July 9, 2019 @ 10:18 am
Ashley mentioned the next album during her set at CMA, but I haven’t heard anything else since. It’s something to keep an ear out for, though.
July 8, 2019 @ 7:13 pm
I love Miranda but I think her days at radio are mostly over. I think Platinum was the peak of her career and I think its now on a downward trajectory. She will still be popular but just not like she was in the Platinum era. I hope I am completely wrong but I just don’t think I am.
July 8, 2019 @ 7:45 pm
Oh. Now it makes sense. Was wondering why so many pics of her and new hubby in NYC were being sent to Daily Mail and US Weekly. She has a single coming out. So much for wanting her privacy. Yeah. I’m going to pass. Seen her a few times and just don’t get it. Rock? No. Just no. She gets screechy. Moved on. Now Ashley McBride. Oh yeah.
July 8, 2019 @ 8:10 pm
What so great about these Stan posts is how they really believe they come across as so authentic and organic.
July 8, 2019 @ 11:22 pm
We see you over there on the internet comparing all the girls who are killing it.
July 9, 2019 @ 1:08 am
The ladies have always “Killed It”, “Knocked it out of the ballpark” … The problem is they aren’t enough being given a chance.
July 8, 2019 @ 7:58 pm
Yet another Miranda post.
July 8, 2019 @ 8:18 pm
I believe this is going to be an important release. So just like covering releases from Tyler Childers, Cody Jinks, etc., if there’s relevant information that is in the public interest, I’ll post it.
July 9, 2019 @ 5:23 am
I agree
July 9, 2019 @ 6:47 am
8 posts on Miranda this year with no single or album. Just wonder how that compares to other artists, especially female, who have had no singles or album release thus far this year.
Not complaining as much as an observation.
July 9, 2019 @ 9:48 am
And I’ve done 10 posts about Lil Nas X.
Look, I appreciate that some folks don’t want to see coverage of Miranda Lambert, or Lil Nas X, or whatever the hot topic is at the moment. But as a one man operation, I can’t cover everything, and trying will just drive me mad. So I try to cover as much as I can, and zoom in on important topics that I believe have significant impacts on the music. I’m doing the best I can.
July 9, 2019 @ 10:51 am
Lil Nas is approaching 14 weeks at Number 1, one of a handful that has done it in forever. Big difference versus someone who claims to have had the last 8 months off, when the PAs released an album.
July 9, 2019 @ 11:01 am
Yeah, but my articles about Miranda Lambert are about her getting ready singles and an album, so I’m not sure what the whole “she hasn’t released an album, so why are you talking about her?” are about. Seems to miss the point. I do this for tons of artists, Tyler Childers, Cody Jinks, just did one for Dori Freeman. This point doesn’t make any sense at all.
July 10, 2019 @ 10:03 am
I came to this site originally because I’m a huge fan of Miranda. But I stayed for the good articles and music recommendations. (Would have never gotten into Sturgill, Childers, McBryde, Turnpike, Margo, etc without this site. Would have just kept spinning Miranda, Kacey, and Maran.) Keep covering Miranda, Trigger! She’s a gateway drug.
July 9, 2019 @ 9:33 am
I’m not a big Miranda fan but I still love the news about her and maybe the producer change will help me hear what you all hear a little clearer. Looking forward to the album and any news about it. Ashley McBryde as well.
July 9, 2019 @ 9:04 am
Miranda Lambert is a tremendously important artist in country music today. It makes a lot of sense that Trigger and other journalists cover her extensively. Those readers who dislike her – for whatever reason- seem to have some sort of disconnect about her importance and influence.
July 10, 2019 @ 8:13 pm
“some sort” – we know exactly where their disconnect is…
July 8, 2019 @ 8:27 pm
Thanks for this article TRIGGER! I’ve been a Miranda Fan since the beginning and never knew of radio playing Miranda much.(Altho, I’m in a smaller city with a DJ thats also a Miranda fan) Fine with me her music is played in my house, car. I love her voice and think she is the best out there. She’s had a great successful music career, really can’t complain. Bring on the new music…I’ll be looking forward to the 18th
July 8, 2019 @ 9:33 pm
I love Mirand she is amazing. ????????
July 9, 2019 @ 12:29 am
For those people who only have shit to say about Miranda, should just move on, iam sure she dosent give a rats ass. Miranda will always have a great fan base , i m assuming we will not her hear new music on the radio as some 20 something guy sings about beer his buddies his truck and his girl. YAWN.. Out of the 4 female artist. Radio plays evey 2 hours theres a 80 percent chance its a Miranda favorite.. Country. Radio sucks turn it off and move on.Buy music online they will notify you when its released and you can take it with you where ever you. go…
July 9, 2019 @ 4:04 am
I love Miranda and I can’t wait for this new music. Could care less about radio As I don’t listen to it. Same artist and same songs every hour and some can hum a tune and they are going to play it. I say bring on new Miranda music.
July 9, 2019 @ 4:27 am
People wake up Miranda Lambert is bad ass She Can sing anything and make it the best She awsome Her run is far by being over!!! Id put my money on her any day She s badass and. Dont give no F…ck what anyone says i love her Music .you go Miranda i Cant wait to hear ur New Music !!!!! Hateres Move On Miranda Lambert. Is Always Numbers1 in myEyes you Go Girl!!!!!!
July 9, 2019 @ 4:29 am
Jay Joyce is a solid producer but his acts tend to struggle on the radio. Even Church singles seems to take 9 months to get to the top 10 despite his big fan base. I look at Lambert recording an album to jumpstart her fanbase and improve ticket sakes. While she won’t ignore radio I don’t think switching to Joyce was about radio.
July 9, 2019 @ 4:37 am
Miranda lambert run isnt over yet Move on haters!!!! Miranda Can Sang anything and its awsome. She s badass and. Dont Give No F…ck what anyone Says She young beautiful and Happily Married To Her New Man Blake is a piece Of Shit!!! Miranda has moved on and Happy Her New Album with the Pistol Annies Is Awsome !!! Keeper Of The Flame Girl Rock On U Still Got Ur Beautiful and Happy in love ya deserve it U go Miranda!!!!!!!
July 9, 2019 @ 5:06 am
I always loved Miranda Lambert since she was on Nashville Star. I said then that even if she did not win someone was going to sign a contract with her and she was going to be a star one day. Miranda has the all around talent songwriter, singer and plays guitar and the look. She is a great singer and deserves all that that has come to her. I know her new music will be great with all the talent that has gone into making it.
July 9, 2019 @ 5:41 am
I’m interested to see what type of song it’s going to be, slow paced ballad or something up tempo. She needs a hit to energize her fan base and get people to buy her tickets which is a bigger issue for her than radio IMO. I guess they go hand in hand though.
July 9, 2019 @ 7:00 am
I have to say I agree with you. I think its been awhile since she had a “hit” and could really use one. I hope this song is it for her but given radio hasn’t really played her much since Automatic I just don’t see it happening. I can’t speak to her ticket sales but I don’t think a radio hit would hurt.
July 9, 2019 @ 8:27 am
A hit song can absolutely never hurt but I don’t necessarily think she “needs one“ because she’s already a living legend and has an enormous fanbase… She can release records and tour for the rest of her life on the clout she already has
July 9, 2019 @ 9:19 am
Her enormous fan base isn’t buying the tickets right now. Have you seen the dismal sales for her upcoming shows? They had to add Randy Houser as an opening act and even st reduced prices she has whole sections unsold.
Miranda getting downgraded leaves Carrie as the only female country artist who can compete with the men when it comes to AOTY. Not a great thing for women in country.
July 9, 2019 @ 9:39 am
Many have questioned the wisdom of doing the “Pink Guitars” tour with the ladies instead of a stadium tour with a male co-headliner which would obviously sell more tickets.
I am starting to wonder if she has just reached the point in her career where she doesn’t care anymore about hits and ticket sales and just wants to do what she wants to do. Not a bad place to be in artistically, but it is alarming that we are down to ONE consistently bankable female artist in country music.
July 9, 2019 @ 10:08 am
That’s the problem I’ve always had with Nashville pushing only two women and awards going to either Miranda or Carrie. At least Kelsea has stepped up to the bigger venues but the goal is to get more women up there headlining arenas and amphitheater not less.
July 9, 2019 @ 10:21 am
And yet Kelsea (the most commercially successful “country” female artist of last year didn’t even merit a Female Vocalist of the Year nomination at this year’s ACMs.
Not a good time to be a female artist in country music IMHO.
July 9, 2019 @ 11:22 am
I blame the industry and country music award shows more than radio. When the industry keeps telling consumers that only two women are worthy of awards and only the same women get exposure and performance slots year after year on these shows you can’t really point the finger of blame at radio only.
July 9, 2019 @ 11:56 am
Agree. It was nice to see McBryde in two performance slots at this years ACMs, but on the whole, these award shows fail miserably at showcasing and rewarding female talent.
July 9, 2019 @ 12:12 pm
Concert tickets in general with any genre are not selling too well… people are opting for paying a large sum of money for festivals with multiple acts
July 9, 2019 @ 1:20 pm
Her show at mid state fair next week, the two other headliners both sold out their nights while Miranda’s sales are a hot mess. Same for the opening night of her Roadside Bars tour next month.
She needs this new single to do well for her.
July 9, 2019 @ 5:24 pm
Ok, the fact that SameOld is talking Mid-State fair and trying to diminish Miranda because she hasn’t sold as many tickets as 2x/ week TV coach Blake Shelton tells me we have a Blake-Gwen fan on here. Why pay attention to everything Miranda does if you don’t care for her. Miranda has already established herself as a legend. That can’t be taken away from her. And she always collaborates with awesome writers and delivers great music. Her songs, her stories.
July 10, 2019 @ 2:09 pm
What does Blake Shelton have to do with Miranda’s tickets sales? They’ve been divorced for years she’s had relationships, affairs and now a marriage since then.
You don’t like hearing about her struggle to sell tickets blame it on the fans who are too busy worrying about what an ex is doing. Don’t like her mid state ticket sales being brought up, have a look at the very first show of her tour starting next month if you want to see an even bigger disaster. Maybe you can blame that on Evan and Turnpike fans.
July 9, 2019 @ 9:00 am
I read on CMT that the song is “uptempo” and “country as country can be,” but seeing as how CMT doesn’t know country from a hole in the ground, take that for whatever it’s worth.
July 9, 2019 @ 9:40 am
Thanks I don’t usually read CMT. Imo that’s the best route for her to take at this point.
July 9, 2019 @ 12:25 pm
”Not a good time to be a female artist in country music IMHO.”
It’s always a good time to be female OR male in COUNTRY but radio stuff isn’t COUNTRY ( Carrie’s new single is dreadful pop ….Kelsea , Maren and most of the female acts getting airplay here in Canada – and there are some good singers – DO NOT SING COUNTRY MUSIC ) I’m happy Miranda isn’t trying to compete with what they are doing just to get airplay . KEEPER OF THE FLAME says it all . That song should have been huge if the radio demographic gave a damn about lyric and melody and COUNTRY music .
I think Miranda always does what she feels is right for her . No …it isn’t always country….it isn’t always great stuff ( L’il Red Wagon , ) and it isn’t always commercially viable but she’s pretty-much legendary by today’s standards and will remain so by the fact that she does what she wants . She’s not that removed in approach from a Sarah Shook or a Kacey Musgraves in that respect . She’s not trying to chase trend so much as chase a good song .
July 9, 2019 @ 12:37 pm
I don’t disagree with you…from the standpoint of artistic output, but my point is that these women are not seeing radio or commercial success and neither their record lables nor the Nashville “industry” cares to give them the push they give to male artists.
If “Keeper of the Flame” had been put out by one of the marquee men performers, it would have been given a massive push and been a massive hit. Women in general (even Underwood and Lambert) are regulated to “second tier” when it comes to industry and label support, so that’s why I said it’s not a good time to be a female country artist.
July 9, 2019 @ 2:10 pm
Anything you read about the ‘new music business ‘ comes down to touring and live performance as a way to be successful . You need to deliver live . Radio hardly matters . CD sales certainly don’t matter -( your merch table at the live shows can sell CD’s in greater numbers than Amazon or Walmart if fans are interested …but hell you’ll sell as many T-shirts anyway …so .. ) .
Miranda and Kacey , Stapleton and many others are realizing this and thriving in spite of not getting played . THRIVING ! Streams only count if you’re Bieber or Beyonce . There’s no incentive NOT to do the kind of music YOU feel and YOU want to do come what may . There are enough people to support any style , any kind of music in any genre if you are committed to touring ,touring, touring , and delivering a quality show to audiences . What radio has going for it still is the ILLUSION that you must be good if you are being played . You MUST be popular if you are on the radio . You MUST be the best that’s out there . Like with the demise of commercial television , most caring, discerning folks already realize that the best stuff isn’t found on those outlets anymore .
By not buying into label mentality and dictates , Miranda , Kacey , Stapleton , Isbell and others have worked LIVE tirelessly and established their respective fan bases . Radio seems to mean less and less when you look at WHO is selling , WHO is bringing in the crowds to shows , and WHO has something interesting to sing for us .
July 16, 2019 @ 6:17 am
@SameOld It is an uptempo tune. She posted a 30 second tease of it on her Instagram page that is still up.
July 9, 2019 @ 6:24 am
Can’t wait to hear it!
July 9, 2019 @ 6:46 am
Probably my most anticipated album of the year
July 9, 2019 @ 7:31 am
Alexa play “We Ready”
July 9, 2019 @ 8:02 am
”Her last singles “Tin Man” only made it to #22, and “Keeper of the Flame” fizzled out at #55. ….”
two of her best ….and two of radio’s recent best …..the difference being that radio didn’t know that .
July 9, 2019 @ 12:32 pm
Here’s what a country song sounds like ( a reminder to those of us who may have forgotten and those of us who think it’s what Maren or Kelsea are singing ).
If this doesn’t stir you somehow , go listen to Loretta Lynn’s entire last album and learn-up .
Erin is as good a COUNTRY songwriter working right now , Im My Not -So -Humble- Opinion

Don’t go mad! We need you. Keep up the good work. It really is appreciated. I have a two-person office so I can empathize with you somewhat.
July 9, 2019 @ 10:49 am
Actually, I thought two songs on Interstate Gospel were worthy of being released as singles for both ML and AM. It was one of my favs from last year.
July 9, 2019 @ 11:50 am
Do you mind sharing which songs?
July 10, 2019 @ 10:19 am
Interstate Gospel is a masterpiece. (Up there on the wall for all to see!) Cheyenne is in my top 5 Miranda tracks of all time. I love how much the album deals with being a new generation of southern woman. It’s massively underrated IMO.
And Leaver’s Lullaby was better than all of Sparrow minus Orphan.
July 9, 2019 @ 7:44 pm
I agree with the fact that Miranda will do what she wants to. From the time she started out to current day, she is a musical songwriting force. With time she is now a legend. True storyteller and talent with a beautiful voice. I recently watched CMA songwriting series and it was terrific just hearing her talk about the songwriters and her friends who collaborated on the double album platinum Weight of these Wings. Plus all of the acoustic performances. Really enjoyed hearing Miranda and Jack Ingram singing Tin Man. That song alone should have faired better on the charts. She lives and breathes her music. This next chapter , I do believe will be amazing as well. There is no stopping Miranda, her craft or her talent 🙂
July 12, 2019 @ 7:34 am
The clip I just heard of it sounds amazing. What an ear worm
July 12, 2019 @ 2:03 pm
Like I’ve commented I’m a big Miranda Lambert fan, whether radio does or doesn’t play her, whether she sells concert tickets has no effect on my life or Miranda’s at this stage of her music career. Why would anyone else comment time and again about Miranda when its obvious you aren’t a fan. Miranda has banked money to take care of herself, she can now take breaks and do as she wants. I’m ready for her new music to add to my collection. In my mind she is the BEST out there, radio play or if she doesn’t fill venues. Miranda isn’t worried…why should it be a concern of others.
July 12, 2019 @ 7:11 pm
unfortunately, Rolling Stone’s music charts purposely discount radio airplay.
for both the top 100 songs and top 200 albums.
It doesn’t factor in at all.
A song can be the #1 most played song on the radio and it won’t chart on their charts at all unless it gets either digital plays on a paid streaming service, digital sale (paid downloads) or actual physical sales in the real world. (from stores)
and even then, radio airplay purposely doesn’t count for the positions the songs reach.
It’s purposelynot factored in at all.
Radio airplay means zilch to them.
July 12, 2019 @ 7:28 pm
Whether good old fasgioned terrestrial radio or newer satellite radio,
radio airplay means zilch to them
unless it’s lil nas x on the country music charts with a non-country song
which is what they want
