Newest Additions to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist (#17)
Fresh horses have just been added to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist, hoping to do battle with Spotify’s ridiculous portrayal of country music on their mainstream playlists bought and sold via the streaming version of payola.
The latest additions include the excellent song “My Way” from Ervin Stellar‘s recently-released album The Moment, which is very indicative of the original Outlaw-era sound. This is chased by the honky tonk heartbreaker “Why Don’t You Introduce Me as Your Darlin’” off of Vivian Leva‘s debut Time Is Everything.
Though Gospel music is not for everyone, The Oak Ridge Boys are, and the excellent “God’s Got It” from their just-released Dave Cobb-produced record 17th Avenue Revival makes the latest list. And certainly not to be overlooked is the new song from Dave Cobb cousin Brent Cobb that pays tribute to fallen country music artist Wayne Mills. “King of Alabama” is the latest single off of Brent Cobb’s Providence Canyon due out May 11th.
The Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist primarily lives on Spotify, but is also available for those who use Google Play, and now on Apple Music thanks to Country Exclusive. For those who don’t stream, you can still find the song recommendations in list form below.

Good additions to the playlist this week. I know it’s hard to keep up and you can’t possibly contain all the great material out there to just 25 songs, but I want to throw a shout out to the new folk/alt-country album “One Stone” by Trixie Mattel. She’s a drag performer and recent winner of Rupaul’s Drag Race All Stars, so that might be a little off putting to some, but behind all the drag are 7 well written, well produced songs with real country instrumentation. I’d suggest the lead off single “Moving Parts” as a start and go from there.

I will continue to politely remind this site and readers to checkout the wonderful new album by Nathan Kalish called “I want to believe”. The cover is silly. It is supposed to be. Do NOT let that distract you from a very excellent album.
Songs I recommend:

I just want to say this becouse of the awful Keith Urban song rant that the Ervin Stellar song is the proper way to do it. His first cord is just like Waylon’s “Only Daddy That’ll Walk the Line”. The difference is, Ervins song is actually enjoyable, while Keiths song, is not.

Yes, be inspired by the classic sounds of country and pay them forward, not deface them.

Also doesn’t hurt that it’s Jim Campilongo on Ervin Stellar’s track. He burns.

Thanks for the new playlist update! Yellow Feather’s song, “If You Ain’t Cheatin'” still gets me. Shocked they are flying so low. Looks like they have some solid tour dates coming up, so I guess we’ll see.
