Newest Adds to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist (#151)

The Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist is built to keep you informed on all the best songs and albums coming out right here, right now in country and roots music. It’s available on most all streaming formats (see below), or you can just use the song, artist, and album recommendations to find something new to listen to. New songs just added.
Newest Additions:
Hailey Whitters – “Casseroles” – A stunning song from Hailey Whitters that explores loss and grief through the giving of casseroles to the bereaved. It was written by Hillary Lindsey, Tom Douglas and James Slate. Right now it’s not tied to any album project, but Whitters is about due for a new LP in 2025.
Madison Hughes, Brent Cobb – “Nobody Knows Your Love” – Madison was smart to select this song out of the crowd to sing, and even smarter to bring the soulful, almost whisper voice of Brent Cobb to it to really send it into the goosebumps zone. “Nobody Knows Your Love” lingers with you.
Mason Via – “There Goes Another One” – This former member of Old Crow Medicine Show gets your heart rate up with this bluegrass heater, and gets you anticipating his new self-titled album out April 25th.
Tony Logue – “Cinnamon Blonde” – A great love song from this gritty, real deal songwriter who delivers everything he does with conviction and guts. Tony Logue’s new album Dark Horse drops February 21st, and you don’t want to miss it.
Josh Ward – “Talkin’ To Your Picture” – Josh Ward right now is the leader in the clubhouse for the honky tonk album of 2025 with Same Ol’ Cowboy, Different Rodeo. And though the album’s got some boot scooters on it, this is the song that best showcases the great songwriting and more heartbreaking moments on the album.
Josh Ward – “There’s A Drink For That” – One of the numerous honky tonk heaters on Ward’s new Same Ol’ Cowboy, Different Rodeo. When an artist gets two songs from the same album on the playlist, you know they’re on a roll.
Melissa Carper, Theo Lawrence – “Thank You, But No Thank You” – A super cool pairing of two great throwback country artists who were born to sing old school country music.

Trig I don’t think Tony’s tune rendered in AMZ, or mb they all bitter brunettes.
Also Tennessee Jet’s “Ray Wylie Hubbard” song rips.

Yeah I couldn’t find it on there. It might still be populating. Sometimes there is a lag on Amazon.

What about Emily Ann Roberts’ Easy Does It. She’s a peach and it’s a gem.

I just added “Place They Call Home,” the new Castellows featuring Flatland Cavalry song, to my playlist. I suspect it’ll be on this playlist soon, too.

I’m enjoying the Max McNown album.
And completely off topic, it was interesting, surprising and but also mildly amusing to see that Carrie’s streaming figures dropped by 6% on Inauguration Day. I’m sure there were a lot of conversations had before deciding whether to take the gig, but at the moment it looks the gamble backfired on her.
January 27, 2025 @ 8:22 am
Meanwhile, Billboard and Whiskey Riff reported on her sales gains. To me, the whole thing at this point looks like a wash when it comes to the numbers. 6% can be equated to it being a busy news week. The real question will be the long-term effects. Remember, my prediction is that it will hurt Carrie’s career, despite the solid performance. I still wouldn’t have done it.

Interesting. I do think the difficulty in judging the impact of her performing is that she (much like Jason Aldean) feel like they are at the stage of their respective careers where their fanbase is set and it isn’t really going to grow much while also their relevance at Country radio is still solid, but not gangbusters like it was 5-10 years ago.
So the question will be moving forward, how much can her respective chart performance be chalked up to folks moving on to the next “big” artist and just that natural slippage in relevance as a popular artists ages and how much can be directly tied back to folks being upset at her performing.

Parker McCollum was scheduled to play at one of the inaugural balls, don’t know if he actually did. If so,it hasn’t hurt his new single, which is catching on at radio. Hopefully we’ll be getting a new album from him this year.
Also, for better or worse, add Morgan Wallen to your new release list for this year. “I’m the Problem” will likely be out in the spring or summer. If the first single, “Smile,” is any indication, it might reflect a more sober Wallen, but not a very country one.

I’m not sure if this is the proper place to make recommendations or not, but the Willow Avalon album is full of bangers.
January 27, 2025 @ 9:30 am
Fully aware of the Willow Avalon album.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Whitey Morgan “we had it all” produced by Waylon‘s son shooter. I am hundred percent confused on why this has not been talked about yet. You have a great underground real country singer in Whitey Morgan that just released a single that is a cover song of the great Waylon Jennings and the producer was his son Shooter Jennings and nothing has been said yet.
January 27, 2025 @ 5:24 pm
Whitey Morgan is getting ready to announce his new album produced by Shooter Jennings. When he announced the first single from the project “Let Me Roll,” I did a dedicated article on it, as well as put it on this playlist. Generally speaking, cover songs are not featured on this playlist unless they are something very exceptional. Nobody has given Whitey Morgan more love over the years than Saving Country Music. I look forward to reporting on his album as soon as everything is revealed publicly.
There are many, many things going on in country music all the time. I try to report on as many of them as I can, and highlight what I believe is most important to highlight at a given moment.
