Old Crow Medicine Show Announce Extensive Summer Tour
Old Crow Medicine Show is celebrating their 20th year in 2018, and will be releasing their latest album Volunteer via Columbia Records Nashville on April 20th. Produced by Dave Cobb and recorded at historic Studio ‘A’, the album is said to have a more electric sound compared to the some of the band’s previous efforts. The last time Telecaster was featured in one of the band’s songs, it was producer and mentor David Rawlings playing on the song “Wagon Wheel.”
This may also translate into their live show when the Grand Ole Opry members go on an extensive tour starting this April and going well into late summer in support of the new record. The tour will include 30 cities, including marquee performances at the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee, two dates on Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Festival, the Green River Festival in Greenfield, Mass., and a show at Colorado’s famous Red Rocks Amphitheater in mid August.
Ahead of the April 20th release of Volunteer, Old Crow Medicine Show has made a few tracks available, including most recently the song “Whirlwind” (listen below).

This is bullshit. Most of these dates are fucking festivals where you’d be lucky to get a 45 minute set. We have tickets to the Outlaw Fest in Noblesville, but they are 4th billing …. 30 minutes, tops.
Hopefully, they put together a proper tour in fall or early next year to support the new album.

Going to see them in DC on the 28th. I haven’t been to the Anthem there yet but it’s supposed to be a great spot.

The Anthem is nice. Saw Thievery Corporation there on New Years.

Bring back Willie.

I have been into this band from their early years even before they recorded Wagon Wheel. And I well remember they were playing a very rough, primitive old timey foot stomping Ozark hillbilly sound. Willie Watson loves that style, that’s the sound h

He envisioned for the band. I think over the years Ketch has been intrigued by other sounds. Nowadays they are closer to a country sound, but seem to resonate well with a larger fan base.
I am liking their new stuff. This song puts me in mind of early Pure Prairie League.
Go see em live, they put on a real barn burner of a show.

I think their Eutaw record was about as perfect as it ever got. I like Greetings from Wawa too.

OCMS is on a major label, and the last few times I’ve seen them have been in 5000+ seat venues and multiple sold out Ryman shows. I saw Willie back in November at a show that could charitably have been said to have 25-30 people. I’m thinking that ship has sorta sailed.

I’ve got tickets to opening night in Asheville and then a week later in Meridian, MS. I can’t wait! I wouldn’t worry too much about the festivals as this tour will have fall dates.

The Orange Peel is a great venue. I wish those dates weren’t Monday or Tuesday, or I’d make the 2~ hour drive. I saw them at a HoB a few years ago and it was a great show.

With out Willie why even bother with these guys? Its all garbage.

Wow, this song is not the sound I expected out of OCMS at all. It’s a nice song, but I can’t imagine it would have made the cut on Tennessee Pusher. Is that why people are saying bring Willie back? I don’t the band’s history.
