I’m with Torres. Let’s Try to Move On From the Term “Queer Country”

By labeling a performer “Queer Country,” you’re not breaking down barriers, you’re erecting them with country music’s more conventional and conservative fans.

charley-crockett

We’re just lucky to still have Charley Crockett around at this point. While the 34-year-old was getting ready to have surgery for a seven-year-old hernia condition he’d been suffering from, but didn’t have the funds to address, he was diagnosed with a major heart condition. Now after a few months on the mend, he’s ready to get back on the road.

Song Review – Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country”

blake-shelton

Judged among its peers and the patterns that Blake Shelton has carved for himself in now nearly 20 years of releasing music, “God’s Country” is unexpected, expressive, passion-filled, and hard not to feel the power of. But it won’t be interesting enough to assuage Johnny Cash hipsters to pay attention to commercial radio.

Dolly Parton gets NASCAR Paint Job for Upcoming Race

Pink isn’t exactly the perfect color for NASCAR, but when it’s presented in partnership with country music legend Dolly Parton, even the burliest of motorsports aficionados stand down, if not pump their fists when they see it coming around the turn. NASCAR’s Tyler Reddick driving for Richard Childress Racing will be sporting a Dolly Parton paint job.

Full Story of Phil Mickelson Telling Jake Owen “Go F-ck Yourself.”

phil-mickelson-jake-own

We’d love to think that legendary golf pro Phil Mickelson hauled off and told Jake Owen “Go fuck yourself” recently for putting out garbage country music songs like “Beachin'” or for saying he’s collaborating with Lil Nas X on a hip-hop song. But the truth of the matter is the spat had to do with Phil’s primary occupation, not Jake’s.

ben-jarrell

Hot damn son! Wondering where the hell all the hard charging, kick ass, phase guitar and pedal steel-filled good ol’ Outlaw country music has gone in 2019, and without skimping on the songwriting, thank you very much? Well it all seems to have been sucked up and put to good use by Alabama native Ben Jarrell.

20 African American Artists Better For Country Than Lil Nas X

african-americans-in-country-music

Oh the irony of so many people demanding all music sound the same in the name of “diversity.” The only reason we’re even having a discussion of where Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” should be placed on the charts is because you can’t tell the difference between most any given piece of popular music anymore.

It was recently announced that the daytime morning show Pickler & Ben featuring Emmy-winning television personality Ben Aaron, and country music singer Kellie Pickler, is being canceled. Album Review – George Strait’s “Honky Tonk Time Machine”

george-strait-every-little-honky-tonk-bar

It seems strange to characterize George Strait’s latest record Honky Tonk Time Machine as a return to his roots. After all, this is George Strait. But nonetheless, it’s a fair accreditation to make, and a welcome conclusion to settle upon when you appreciate the authority with which George Strait can deliver a honky tonk heartbreaker.

The aftermath of the removal of Lil Nas X’s viral trap song “Old Town Road” from the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart continues, and unfortunately, so do the misconceptions and outright lies surrounding the removal as being motivated by racism.

Why Jamey Johnson Walked On Stage with a Bunch of Pastel Balloons

jamey-johnson-kelsey-waldon-birthday-2

Yeah Jamey Johnson likes to play the tough guy, making you think he chugs motor oil and eats used tires as the honorably discharged Marine corporeal whose now the big and burly face of traditional country music for many. But he showed a softer side at a recent concert at the Egyptian Room in Indianapolis.
