brad-paisley

Brad Paisley has been making quite the spectacle on Twitter over the last two days, claiming to be leaking bits and pieces of his upcoming album Moonshine In The Trunk against the will of his label Sony Music. Or so he says. This Brad Paisley leaking episode is not him acting out against his label, it is pure marketing. Whether Sony was in on the ruse really is inconsequential.

ali-lohan

Yes ladies and gentlemen, what really is popular country music to some except a repository for washed-up stars that tried their hands elsewhere and either failed initially or ultimately, but still feel their owed a societal debt to be thrust back into the spotlight despite their lack of talent and true country roots, simply because they were once famous for something, or in this case, their sister was.

Garth Brooks is back, and there’s no denying it when you poke around country music and see his face and name everywhere. But his triumphant return has been one of the most curious cases of missed dates, canceled engagements, and other symptoms of mismanagement from a man whose modus operendi is one of having the most well-oiled marketing teams in music.

Just sit back and appreciate where we’re at for a second ladies and gentlemen. Here it is the dead of summer 2014, and the song that has everyone talking in country music is not some frivolous, carefree party anthem. It’s not some beach-bumming or beer on the tailgate half-baked haven for country cliché. It’s the song from two young girls named Maddie & Tae.
