Saving Country Music’s Worst Songs of 2013
91 Comments
So here you go ladies and gentlemen, the worst of the worst that 2013 had to offer in country music. As you might suspect, a list of mainstream country’s worst misdeeds in 2013 is mostly populated by an ear-serrating cacophony of country rap songs. With only a couple of exceptions, country rap has replaced what last year at this time was a parade of laundry list-themed songs.

As an organ donor, Wayne’s kidneys, pancreas, liver and heart went to people waiting on transplants.
Hellbound Glory From The Empire Control Room
9 Comments
You won’t see Reno, Nevada’s Hellbound Glory at the top of anyone’s ‘Best Of’ lists this year, unless it relates to touring or live performances. Leroy Virgil & the boys didn’t leave much time for recording and releasing albums in 2013; they were too busy ripping off one of the toughest, busiest, and arguably the most notable touring schedules in 2013 from an independent country act.
Why Producer Dave Cobb Is The Real Winner of 2013

Sturgill Simpson’s “High Top Mountain.” Jason Isbell’s “Southeastern.” Lindi Ortega’s “Tin Star.” Though these artists are from different locales, and the genres they represent are varied shades of the country music theme, they all have one thing in common: a virtually unnoticed and rarely heralded behind-the-scenes producer named Dave Cobb.

‘X’ Factor Boy Band Rips Off Randy Rogers Band Logo
15 Comments
even though this Restless Road boy band is still competing on The “X’ Factor, part of the ‘X’ Factor bit is to match up contestants branding even as they’re competing. And I’ll be damned if Restless Road, The ‘X’ Factor marketing team, or someone didn’t straight up rip off the Randy Rogers Band logo, back-to-back capital ‘R’ ‘s, with the white highway stripes down the middle and everything.

Jake Owen Doubles Down on Critical Country Comments
74 CommentsCountry performer Jake Owen first joined the chorus of detractors against the direction of country back in October. Now he’s back at it as his single “Days of Gold” climbs the country charts, telling Country Weekly, “songs like ‘The Thunder Rolls’ or John Michael Montgomery’s ‘Life’s a Dance,’ they were songs that meant something to people.”
LeAnn Rimes Redeems ACA Awards with Patsy Cline Tribute
31 CommentsBut then here came a Patsy Cline tribute in the last quarter of the show and the whole sad sack theme of the night did a complete 360. There was LeAnn Rimes, singing a medley of Patsy Cline songs, and who better to do it than her? Since the beginning of LeAnn’s career, the Patsy comparisons have come pouring in.
Saving Country Music’s 2013 ACA Awards LIVE Blog
46 CommentsNothing that transpires tonight will matter in the grand scheme, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t point and laugh, give our observations, or completely discount and event that will be seen by millions. It is a completely fabricated awards show construed by FOX. They’re is jealous the other networks get the CMA’s and the ACM’s, and so they made up their own. Even worse, these awards are fan voted.
