Robert Earl Keen Assembles MASSIVE Flood Benefit Concert

The music community is stepping up big time to make sure the folks affected by the flooding in central Texas and the Hill Country are made whole, and those who lost loved ones are enveloped by the rest of community in all the love that can be mustered.

There have already been countless fundraisers and impromptu concerts set up to help the cause. Pat Green who lost family members in the flood is conducting a livestream event Wednesday (7-16) evening. Josh Weathers raised over $400,000 in a livestream event of his own. Kat Hasty and Rich O’Toole raised a reported $75,000 for the heavily affected community of San Angelo. Galleywinter turned their annual River Jam into a fundraiser that also raised funds for the cause.

George Strait has his own fundraiser planned as well, and there are so many more that it’s hard to enumerate them all. But Robert Earl Keen has pulled together the biggest lineup yet for an event on August 28th at the Whitewater Ampitheater in New Braunfels called “Applause for the Cause.”

Along with Robert Earl Keen himself, close friend Tyler Childers has pledged to perform, Miranda Lambert, Jack Ingram, and Jon Randall will reprise their Marfa Tapes songs together, and the newly reformed Cross Canadian Ragweed are making a rare appearance too.

Along with all of these names, others who’ve pledged to appear include Cody Jinks, Hayes Carll, Aaron Watson, Jamey Johnson, Cleto Cordero, Catie Offerman, Jamestown Revival, Jason Boland, Josh Abbott, Kazimi, Kelsey Waldon, Kolton Moore, Pug Johnson, Radney Foster, Randy Rogers, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Ryan Bingham, Sarah Jarosz, Terry Allen, Vincent Neil Emerson, William Clark Green, Josh Weathers, Kyle Park, Rob Baird, and The Texas Trio.

Expect these artists to perform solo or with a house band. But nonetheless, the talent level is pretty incredible. This event will be like a gathering of the tribes of Texas music. Doors will open at 3:00 PM, with Lloyd Maines and his Austin City Limits band backing up various guest vocalists. Robert Earl Keen and Tyler Childers will cap the night off.

“This is a star-studded lineup with music starting in the mid-afternoon and lasting far into the night,” says Robert Earl Keen. “We must help everyone as much as we can, for as long as we can.”

Tickets go on sale on Friday, July 18th at 12:00 Central at whitewaterrocks.com.
