‘Rolling Stone’ Beclowns Itself Delving Into Jeffrey Epstein’s Musical Tastes

Congratulations Rolling Stone, you have finally found the veritable bottom of what anyone would ever be able to classify as “musical journalism.” This is so bad, this is so egregious, anyone who had any part in the writing, editing, approval, and publishing of this piece should be frog marched out of the Rolling Stone offices immediately, and a public retraction, mea culpa, and detailed explanation of how such an article ever came into being should be issued, along with vehement promises that no such offense will ever happen again, so help them God.
On Thursday, February 26th, Rolling Stone published a story written by Cheyenne Roundtree delving deep into the musical tastes of convicted mass child rapist, viper Capitalist, and all around piece of shit Jeffrey Epstein. And when we say “deep,” Rolling Stone proudly boasts how the article “combed through thousands of files to better understand some of Epstein’s more mundane, day-to-day habits, particularly when it came to his musical tastes. What Did He Really Listen To?”
…as if anyone cares about what Jeffrey Epstein vibed out to amid the horrific revelations that have been unearthed about this American monster so far.
The exhaustive, nearly 1,700-word treatise upon Mr. Epstein’s listening habits painstakingly culled through the Epstein Files to present completely unimportant details about how Epstein listened to music, where he listened to music, the type of music he listened to, his Spotify wrapped from one year, a playlist he asked a friend to make for him on another, and other such superfluous details that are apropos to nothing.

It’s patently clear while reading through this article that Cheyenne Roundtree spent days, maybe even weeks composing and researching the story. And instead of doing what? Has Rolling Stone reported on Jelly Roll getting caught on video using the N-word three times yet? Maybe Rolling Stone could have reported how country punk band Jason and the Scorchers and Blues Traveler were named in the Epstein files, and tied to human trafficking—something Jason Ringenberg has now reached out to Saving Country Music to flatly deny.
If there was some sort of insight into Jeffrey Epstein’s sadistic, pathological behavior that could be gleaned from such a psychological exercise as analyzing his musical interests, maybe there would be a tiny shred of value in this enterprise. But that’s not the case at all. Instead, the upshot of the whole thing is that despite Epstein presenting himself as a “cultural savant” (which there really isn’t a lot of evidence of), his musical tastes were “largely devoid of sophistication.” Basically, music is a completely insignificant aspect to this entire saga.
However, what an article like this runs the risk of doing is humanizing Jeffrey Epstein by presenting him as just a normal guy with normal musical tastes. The only good news about this story is Rolling Stone is getting absolutely trounced by its own readers over it. The comments beneath the article on social media were a bloodbath for the publication where they had to delete the posts, though strangely, they’ve decided to keep the article itself up. (Saving Country Music has chosen not to link to it).

The article was going so terrible, Rolling Stone decided to change the title, and allude that somehow Epstein’s musical inclinations were part of his manipulative behavior. But this title only makes it worse, because this premise is not presented in the article, and it tries to make his meaningless musical consumption part of his criminal pathology to cover Rolling Stone‘s tracks.
Amended Title:

This deep dive into Jeffrey Epstein’s music listening truly deserves to go onto the Rolling Stone Wall of Shame right next to their pronouncement of the Hawk Tuah Girl as the next Dolly Parton, and their previous Editor-in-Chief Noah Shachtman covering up, ironically enough, a story about child pornography.
Why musicians, publicists, labels, and the general public continue to assign any cultural cachet to this rag and its paywalled corporate content is beyond quizzical.

The circuses, they’re pretty great, frfr…
But, hey, does this bread taste like glyphosate to yall?

“this American monster”
Israeli. Jeffrey Epstein was Israeli, through and through. Be fair and honest Kyle.
February 27, 2026 @ 11:50 am
Let’s be careful and make sure we’re not being anti-semetic with our rhetoric. Jeffrey Epstein was an American born and raised. But yes, it’s also fair to point out emails prove he was working with Israeli intelligence (and US intelligence), including at times possibly working on behalf of Israel over the interests of America.
February 27, 2026 @ 12:26 pm
Lets also be careful that we aren’t confusing criticizing a nation state for being anti-semitic.
February 28, 2026 @ 10:16 am
I’m pretty sure “Martin Luther was right” is not criticizing the nation state, but being antisemitic. Martin Luther was an outspoken antisemite.
February 27, 2026 @ 12:36 pm
It’s actually totally ok to call a convicted pedophile the worst names possible and we all need to start doing it more often.
February 27, 2026 @ 12:58 pm
Epstein was quite literally the protege to Robert Maxwell – a known Mossad agent and Ghislaine’s father. Epstein also had a form PM of Isreal staying at his NY apartment for extended amounts of time.
February 27, 2026 @ 11:29 am
I subscribed for years when I was young and loved delving into music deeper. Now they are an irrelevant clown show. Nothing out of them surprises me.

Just when you think they cant lower the bar, they somehow do

I’m not going to go read that list but here’s a few guesses

Anything by Gary Glitter

Christine Sixteen – KIZZ

I was thinking along these lines as well, but the list of musicians linked to underage girls got uncomfortably long. Mostly they seem to occupy the rock & rap culture. Thankfully the country artists like their partners being of the legal variety. Notwithstanding Jerry Lee Lewis.

He would never listen to country music. That’s for those filthy goyims.
February 27, 2026 @ 12:54 pm
Come on Trig, The Droptines announced a new record, and we’re covering this fool?
February 27, 2026 @ 2:13 pm
I didn’t not cover The Droptines to cover this. They’ve received a lot of press here over the years, and I’m sure they’ll be getting much more here very soon.
Also, just to peel the curtain back a little bit: One of the reasons you don’t ever see articles posted here one after the other, and the reason I post articles at night and on weekends is to give everything enough space to breathe. You post something at the wrong time, and it gets buried. I try to space everything out, and post things at the time it will get in front of the most people. Sometimes, if not often, that means delaying a bit.
February 28, 2026 @ 7:36 am
I get it Trig, I was mostly just giving you shit.
February 27, 2026 @ 12:56 pm
This smells like a directed puff piece. The CEO of Rolling Stone Magazine is Jay Penske (Son of Roger Penske). Roger Penske recently went to the White House and was granted permission to have an Indy 500 race in DC. RP also penned a letter to Trump thanking him. I couldn’t find evidence that either Penske is linked in the Epstein files, but considering how many major businessmen are implicated I would not be surprised. We are already seeing factions of the Right and Left picking sides as to whether they want to jeopardize their financial interests by going hard on the Epstein files or not.
I went thru Cheyenne Roundtree’s X page and she previously made a bunch of posts on Diddy’s allegations so this Epstein article seems obtuse to say the least. (If she makes 7k in additional purchases this month I won’t be suprised either) Rolling Stone lost it’s remaining integrity when it put the Boston Bomber on the cover anyway so I’m not shocked that they went this low now.
February 27, 2026 @ 1:02 pm
I agree with everything you wrote, Trigger. I just wish you hadn’t wasted your time writing it and that I hadn’t wasted my time reading your article. A bizarre choice that has nothing to do with Saving Country Music. To borrow from Billy Madison: Everyone on this site is now dumber for having read this. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.
But for real, I hope you spend your weekend at some great shows and listening to some great new music that you can tell us about! That’ll be much better for all of us.
February 27, 2026 @ 1:14 pm
Right. If we all just bury our heads in the sand long enough and deep enough, it will all just go away. Just like W advised us after 9/11, “go shopping”. Words to live (and die) by.
February 27, 2026 @ 2:18 pm
Pat C,
I appreciate the feedback. Please understand that one of the dedicated beats I cover is how the media covers music. It has a dedicated tab/category on the site for this reason. I don’t criticize everything other outlets do as a matter of course. This instance felt so egregious, it felt like someone needed to step up and say something, and in print. This is still a country music website, and that’s the majority of what I cover. There have been a lot of secondary distractions lately, but that’s just the news cycle.
February 27, 2026 @ 1:08 pm
Well, I guess the MSM is moving on from largely ignoring the details of the Epstein case to starting an endeavor to shine up his image. If the public-at-large is as stupid, gullible and incurious as it seems, I reckon it will take about a year before a very much alive Epstein reemerges as the Messiah.
February 27, 2026 @ 1:37 pm
Some internet sleuths found that his Minecraft account was used after his supposed suicide. This username and password was in the files. A recent photo was released of a bearded man who looked very much like Epstein in Isreal surrounded by bodyguards.
Even though most people won’t admit it, many Americans would rather not shake up the system if it means risking their financial stability. People over 50 can’t handle it because it’s too opposite of everything they grew up believing. Younger people will likely become lethargic to it because they already have this growing expectation of no solid financial future.
People that never questioned the narratives around the JFK assassination, 9/11, or even the moon landing, don’t have the mental stamina to deal with the reality that the world is run by satanic pedophiles. I cannot understand how anyone can choose to return to a blue-pill mindset. (Not talking Manosphere shit) Seriously though it’s not an easy mental task to go from believing the basic American mythos and propaganda to immediately accepting the reality that everything is fake and propagandized. I don’t know what this growing distrust in the ruling class will look like moving forward. These elites had previously operated with a general respect from the lower classes because of their wealth and fame but now that that is fading away I’m afraid they are going to rule over us by making us afraid of them now.
February 27, 2026 @ 2:29 pm
Or with the technology soon at their disposal, it won’t matter whether we love, fear, hate or are oblivious to them.
February 27, 2026 @ 7:42 pm
@S– I like when Ali G managed to snag an interview with Buzz Aldrin and asked him: “Does the moon rerally exist?”
Sounds like you. Only Ali G is funny.

The system has to burn down but this country doesn’t have the stamina or strength for such a feat.
Now, go watch your NFL and celebrate 250 – as if the Founding Fathers wouldn’t be disgusted with our current state.
February 27, 2026 @ 3:19 pm
Well the public did vote this guy’s best friend and one of history’s sloppiest conmen to be President twice. If it walks like a duck…
February 27, 2026 @ 6:33 pm
You do realize the first alternative was the wife of a guy who was pictured far more with Epstein and was confirmed to have been on the island 10+ times?? I’m not defending Trump but you have tunnel vision.
March 1, 2026 @ 9:01 am
And the second alternative slept her way to power.
February 27, 2026 @ 2:00 pm
Hey Trig, off the subject, but have you heard anything about some previously unreleased Keith Whitley recordings being discovered & planned to be put out? Apparently his son was talking about it during a recent podcast.
February 27, 2026 @ 2:22 pm
I will probably have something on this very soon. Currently don’t have anything more than what Jesse Keith Whitley said in the podcast, but we’ll see if I can dig anything else up.
February 27, 2026 @ 2:48 pm
Thanks for your response. I am fearful it’ll end up being some AI stuff but it didn’t sound like it from what I read about his comments.
February 27, 2026 @ 2:12 pm
Everyone’s rushing to escape Epstein like Epstein isn’t an avatar of the post-Christian sexual ethic that the Silents and Boomers worked so hard to give us. The reason why Rolling Stone can’t read the room is because for 60 years they’ve been hanging around with people who think schtupping pubescent girls is totally normal.
And the rest of the rats fleeing this sinking ship? Yeah, don’t ask too many hard questions about what they were up to in the 1970s. Or 1980s. Or last week.
February 27, 2026 @ 6:08 pm
Schtupping shiksas is normal.
March 1, 2026 @ 9:02 am
The late 1960s wrecked America.
I always laugh when Boomers wax nostalgic for their decades. The fallout started then.
February 27, 2026 @ 2:29 pm
Not surprised in the least to see this from Rolling Stone. Went down a Jay Penske / PMC / Penske Corp. rabbit hole a few months ago after I saw a social media post about him and his family. The past couple years I find myself starting with ‘who owns this?’ and following the money. Also one of the reasons why I appreciate this site and the actual thoughtful journalism behind it. Really rare these days.
February 27, 2026 @ 4:55 pm
@PaperRosie – Very appropriate comment the day after that mom and pop company called Netflix was outbid by another company who wanted that collection of movies and reporters/editors a few billion dollars more. I -know- I should be concerned about this concentration of owners but have trouble putting it into words.
February 27, 2026 @ 5:27 pm
Rolling Stone is and always has been a stenography machine for the NY and LA entertainment lawyers/agencies… of course they would try and humanize Epstein.
February 27, 2026 @ 5:58 pm
This artice and the slew of reponses pretty much show that we’re at the stage where you can stoke outrage over anything by simply attaching the name Epstein to it.
Hard to predict how long this will go on.
February 27, 2026 @ 6:01 pm
Just assume that any white, baby-boomer male will say that Bruce Springsteen is his favorite. If you do you’ll be correct about 95% of the time.
February 27, 2026 @ 6:04 pm
I thought they couldn’t go any lower than putting a terrorist on the cover.
Apparently I was wrong.
February 27, 2026 @ 7:10 pm
How does this relate to this site unless he listened to country which even then still don’t think it’s nothing worth covering
February 27, 2026 @ 11:30 pm
Billboard is the biggest music outlet in the world. Rolling Stone is #2. They’re both owned by the same company, Penske Media, who also happens to own a dozen other entertainment properties. Some would call that a monopoly. It seems to me that one of the outlets in this music media monopoly writing a story that humanizes a pedophile monster would be the business of every conscientious music fan. One of the primary beats of Saving Country Music is covering how the media covers music. That is the reason there is a dedicated article category on the website called “Media.”
But even if none of this was the case, I would make this matter my business. I am choosing to make it my business. Because it’s absolutely reprehensible, and none of us should stand for it.
February 27, 2026 @ 7:30 pm
Cancelled my subscription right after reading this. Man, has this “magazine” gone downhill over the past decade! Thanks, Trig.
February 27, 2026 @ 9:42 pm
Hey, Neil Sedaka just died.
He’s more relevant to country music than Jeffrey Epstein was.
February 28, 2026 @ 7:24 am
Can the Rolling Stone fall any further? It used to be respected and credible. Not for many years now and it still falls further. Rather sad.
February 28, 2026 @ 10:13 am
It’s funny how every breaking story in country music is at least a little bit about JR saying the no no word.
February 28, 2026 @ 10:41 am
I think it is mind blowing how literally thousands of stories were written about Morgan Wallen saying the N-word, but not a single one was written about Jelly Roll. Not even one beyond this website. How does that happen? Why does that happen unless the entire industry is corrupt? This isn’t even about the N word anymore.
How does a band in the country realm get directly implicated in the Epstein Files, and directly for trafficking women, but no outlet except this one even writes about it?
How when the Gulf War and the Iraq invasion happened, it was wall-to-wall coverage on network television. But right now, it’s infomercials and nature programming as a regime change war commences in Iran?
The media is in absolute crisis. This Rolling Stone article criticized here is a perfect illustration of this, as is the blatant hypocrisy on the Jelly Roll nontroversy.
March 1, 2026 @ 9:04 am
1898 – Spanish-American War had the same yellow journalism.
The same war that launched American imperialism. But hey, let’s celebrate Teddy’s meaningless charge up San Juan Hill instead.
March 1, 2026 @ 10:52 am
Hey Trigger,
With the siloing of information, I’m always curious where others are getting their news. What outlets do you read/watch/listen to that weren’t covering Iran this weekend? It’s been everywhere I’ve looked all weekend, as it should be.
Unrelated – Never would have come across Muchacho Sanchez without this site, and I really enjoyed his album! Thanks!
March 1, 2026 @ 11:38 am
Primarily what I’m talking about is mainstream network television, specifically CBS, ABC, NBC, and FOX. I don’t normally watch these for my news, but I do peer in to see what the mainstream, top-line take on current events is. During the Gulf War and the invasion of Iraq, it was wall-to-wall coverage on these networks for days. Now, they might cut away quickly for a special report. NBC did do an hour-long special last night. Maybe this speaks more to the cable/online accessibility of news, but I did find it very interesting.
Also, the fact that so many people were surprised by the attack since the build up was going horrifically under-reported also feels remarkable. Even with the revelations of the Epstein Files, network news was still dominated by weather, aviation, and Savannah Guthrie news. I really think that news literacy is a major crisis in America, though certainly if you want news on the Iran conflict, there are plenty of options to seek out.
March 3, 2026 @ 3:50 pm
And to think Rolling Stone was once required reading for its music articles and important topics.Shame on Rolling Stone for attempting to make this POS seem a harmless, slightly weird chap with eclectic music tastes. Worse,RS had been unapologetically anti-Establishment;now it’s delving into the music tastes of one of the worst examples of overlord perversion.
March 3, 2026 @ 7:58 pm
Penske Sr. is nearly 90. Don’t think he’s in the Epstein Files !!!!!!!!!!!
March 4, 2026 @ 1:12 pm
This is why I don’t read Rolling Stone it’s a joke and has been for quite some time. Epstein’s musical tastes are irrelevant this article by R.S. is nothing but click/rage bait.
