Ryan Bingham To Release New Full-Length Album – First in 7 Years

It’s been since 2019’s American Love Song that we got a proper studio album from Ryan Bingham. The Americana musician, actor, and Texan has been staying busy otherwise, including regularly touring with The Texas Gentlemen. Now that partnership will be codified via the new album They Call Us The Lucky Ones set to be released on May 15th, distributed by Thirty Tigers.
“After years of being out on my own and playing shows on and off with The Texas Gentlemen, I realized somewhere along the way I was part of a band again without really planning it,” Bingham says, introducing both the album, and his latest single (listen below). “‘Ballad of The Texas Gentlemen’ really came out of that moment – just being back out on the road with people you trust and remembering why you fell in love with playing music in the first place.”
The Texas Gentlemen officially consists of Ryan Ake (guitars), Daniel Creamer (piano, organ), Paul Grass (drums, percussion) and Scott Lee (bass). The new album also features Richard Bowden (fiddle, mandolin) and Cody Huggins (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, pedal steel).

“Working with musicians as talented as The Texas Gentlemen really let us lean into [feeling] a way I hadn’t experienced before,” Bingham says. “There was an unspoken understanding between us about what each song needed, so we tracked most of it live with minimal overdubs, just playing and letting the feel lead.”
Self-produced and written by Bingham himself, the album looks to re-establish Bingham as one of the more gritty, Western-tinged songwriters in Americana after the somewhat experimental and solitary moments of 2023’s Watch Out For The Wolf.
“This album was probably the most fun I’ve had making a record,” Bingham reflects. “I’ve always loved records that feel loose and live and gritty with a bit of soul, where the imperfections from the moment are left in. It finally felt like I was capturing these songs the way I always heard them in my head.”
They Call Us The Lucky Ones is now available for pre-order/pre-save.

Im piqued..Haven’t really grabbed onto any of his music since Junky Star… although I guess you could say at this point the Dead Horses are in fact dead?

came to say the same… I’m the same way with the albums since Junky Star – but could listen to Mescalito, Roadhouse Sun, and Junky Star all day, every day. Hoping this grabs me like those did

I think you could say the Dead Horses were dead a decade ago. He’s been playing with the Texas Gentlemen for many years now.

This most recent tour with no opener with the Texas gentleman as the backing band is damn good! New songs sound great too! Back to what we’re used to with Bingham

Agreed. Saw him last November on one of his last shows for the tour. Ive seen him several times, going back to 09 and really didnt expect much considering his recent output. He proved me wrong, it was a great show and the Texas Gentlemen really stood out as a great band for him. If your on the fence, pull the trigger and go see him on this tour.

I will probably try to give this a listen, but in recent years I’ve really struggled with singing voices with strange accents. Here’s to hoping this aversion fades in time, because there are a lot of great artists who (for some reason) sing with odd inflections.

I was just on a Ryan Bingham kick a few weeks ago. Very cool news indeed.
For my money, “Tomorrowland” is his best so far.

Mescalito really did spark my flame at the time.

Was about to turn the song off when the band came in about 30 seconds in. That really kicked it off; they add a lot to the music for sure.
