Sierra Ferrell Takes Show to the Street After Fire Scare

Sierra Ferrell’s career started on the streets as a busker, singing for ragged dollars and spare change. The street is also where she ended up to conclude her performance Monday night, July 14th in Davenport, Iowa, though not by choice.
The four-time Grammy Award winner was performing at the stately Capitol Theater in downtown Davenport Monday and was almost to the conclusion of her set when a fire alarm rudely interrupted the presentation, and forced staff to evacuate patrons. The crowd spilled out onto 3rd Street, and seeing how Sierra Ferrell was only a few songs from concluding her performance, she could have called it good and headed back to the bus.
But not Sierra Ferrell. She wasn’t finished, neither was her band, and neither were the lucky patrons who stuck around, and got an intimate and up close performance from Sierra acoustic and unplugged right there on the sidewalk of 3rd Street. According to those who experienced it in-person (and the video captured), it was one of those “moments” every music fan lives for.
It goes to show that sometimes when things gone wrong in live music, that’s when some of the most memorable performances occur, especially when you have artists like Sierra Ferrell who do it for the love of the music, and won’t be denied.
And luckily, there was no fire, it was a false alarm.
Sierra is currently touring out towards the West, is playing in Omaha, Nebraska Tuesday night (7-16), then on to Salt Lake City Thursday (7-17), and then this weekend’s FairWell Fest in Oregon where she performs on Saturday, June 19th.

She’s just incredible. Too cool. How’s anyone not a fan of her? I just saw her last weekend and can’t wait to see her again.

Thanks for posting those videos! Man, if you don’t groove to that, you’re probably dead. 🔥

Talented artist no doubt, but I’m a little over her whole schtick.
July 16, 2025 @ 5:11 am

July 16, 2025 @ 6:15 am
What is her shtick that you’re over?
July 16, 2025 @ 8:14 am
Well, we’re all tired of hearing you blame Eve for everything.

Best answer ever!

The one commenter with an opinion is named “Adam” and a 2nd commenter is making an “Adam and Eve” Bible reference. FOR THE RECORD I ALSO BLAME EVE!

If you consider live music a “schtick,” you may need to find a new website to read. We’re all about live music.

I agree she needs to mature and make her own sound and not borrow so much from past jazz and country performers. The “shh” throaty sounds she does is overkill imo and she’s gonna wreck her voice in 20 years if she’s not careful.

Thanks for sharing this!

Sierra’s a shining star. One of a kind.

We are now in the AI era. Already AI bands and artists popping up on Spotify and YouTube and the usual places. Sierra plays acoustic instruments, and theres no trickery involved in making her sound terrific, no autotune or live pitch correction, and no lip syncing at her shows. You get the real deal. With Sierra Ferrell, here you have someone organic with abundant talent putting in all the work like real musicians do, and drawing a progressively larger fanbase by the day. Sure there’s some kitsch to her appearance, and it might turn some fans off, but all said, she’s a win for real music and we’re all the better for having her. This is just another example of the many things that have endeared her to her fanbase.

This is so cool.

Her stage presence reminds me of great artists like Marty Stuart, Marty Robbins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry that took over the stage and made you want to watch.
I like that she shows her appreciation and respect for her audience by “dressing up” and her back up musicans wearing hats.
Unlike many singers that have a guitar to play, she plays her guitar and plays it well.
I hope she is part of the country music scene for a long, long time

These clips fill me with joy……..pure unfiltered country music right there, unscripted, unplanned and you can absolutely sense the joy this moment is bringing…..I’m not an advocate of mobile phones at gigs however it’s great this moment was captured

It is astonishing she hasn’t blown up by now. That voice! 🤩

This is a cool story and definitely sounds like a “had to be there” moment.
I was so-so on Sierra based on her recorded material. Liked it ok, but didn’t revisit it much. Then I saw her Saturday night in Milwaukee at the Harley Homecoming. Wow! She killed it, including a great version of Unknown Legend by Neil Young which she chose due the Harley reference in the lyrics.
She got a bigger response than Turnpike did. I liked her set more than 49 Winchester’s and I LOVE 49 Winchester. (In part because their set was shorter with the earlier time slot).
What a cool move by her in Iowa.

How crazy am I? to have this thought? and to write it in public? ok ok ok:
Ya know how young lovelies will get all “put together,” clothes and makeup just so, BUT then stick out their tongue for the selfie?
Coz they don’t want to seem too egotistical or something like that? Well!
Might it be that Sierra Ferrell (correctly) feels she is a genius singer, and the costumes are a gaudy distraction, a necessary self-parody, so as not to appear to be conceited about her “apart and above” human communication skills? Like, she COULD choose for herself the stage presence of, say, Roy Orbison, and I, for one, would totally still be in the audience for her..
To summarize (yes, this will be on the test)
Beautiful young TikTok lady : : Tongue sticking out in the selfie
Sierra Ferrell : :Costumes
Theory B) She just likes to dress up

Love how she hands her guitar to a fan “can you hold this “

Hey CMA’s, this it the real entertainer of the year.
July 18, 2025 @ 10:09 pm
I sure hope those stage costumes are tax write-offs!
