In February it was announced that the the era-defining album “Wrecking Ball” released in 1995 by Emmylou Harris was getting the reissue treatment, with a remastering of the original album, a new disc of demos and outtakes, and a DVD delving into the making of the album, all set to be released on April 8th. You may wonder why this was the album picked out of the choir for a reissue, and why now.
Country Music Hall of Famer Dolly Parton is good friends with rapper turned daytime stay-at-home personality Queen Latifah, and on a show set to air this Monday (10-21-13), the self-proclaimed “Queen of Dollywood” comes out and does a 90-second rap routine before her interview. Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah recently starred together in the 2012 musical movie Joyful Noise.
In the mainstream of a genre that has grown stale with laundry list cliche songs, gimmicky pop and country rap fare, and droning adult contemporary ballads, Eric Church and “Creepin'” display bold, creative leadership. This song takes chances. There’s few “sensibilities” here. Instead there is striking out in uncharted mainstream country territory.
