Telluride Bluegrass Festival Announces 2025 Lineup
There are many music festivals these days, but there’s only one Telluride Bluegrass Festival. As one of the oldest and most prestigious music gatherings in the world, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience each year as some of the best pickers, singers, and songwriters gather to enjoy music for music’s sake in one of the most breathtaking spots on planet Earth.
When Alison Krauss and Union Station announced they would be reunifying, you had a good feeling Telluride would ultimately be one of their stops. Sure enough, they’re one of the top names playing Telluride in 2025. Dan Tyminski might no longer be with Union Station, but lo and behold, he’ll be playing with his own band in Telluride too, and don’t be surprised if the two bands collaborate.
Telluride is also known for showcasing the rising talent in country music, including Charley Crockett, Sierra Ferrell, and Charles Wesley Godwin in recent years. In 2025, the name to watch will be Zach Top who might be selling out arenas by the end of 2025. Incidentally, Zach’s roots are in bluegrass, and his first album was a straight bluegrass affair. Don’t be surprised if Zach turns up on stage with some of his heroes throughout the week.
Along with the other towering names from the bluegrass world, the top of Americana will be represented in 2025 with Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, along with another surging performer, Lake Street Dive. It’s also heartening to see Pacific Northwest duo Caleb Klauder & Reeb Willms make the list, as well as Oklahoma’s Ken Pomeroy.
The Telluride Bluegrass Festival will occur on June 19th-22nd. It’s not easy to get to or cheap to stay. The weather is always a crazy factor at 8,700 feet, from blazing hot to cold sleet. But it’s a lifelong memory waiting to happen in the mountains of Colorado. For what you can expect, check out Saving Country Music’s 2024 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Recap.

AKUS has been the only announcement for the Earl Scruggs Festival in 2025. I’m looking forward to seeing how that lineup fills out. I was at Telluride in 2019 and Lake Street Dive played that year as well, along with a few other names here. I wish I could do Telluride every year but it really is out of the way, especially since I moved out of CO. Even then it wasn’t the easiest to coordinate and make accommodations for. So I’ll wait for Scruggs Fest with it being a nice 20-minute drive. The Equestrian Center doesn’t compare to the town of Telluride, but at least I won’t get stuck in a gondola at 1am in the morning and have a mini panic attack, haha.

Now, that’s a lineup! Why do we get for Lasso (Montreal’s country fest) Jelly Roll and Bailey Zimmerman as headliners ?

Alison Krause has no business headlining, she should be in the lower lineup.

Those are fighting words my friend!
Alison has a huge following, especially with Union Station.
She’s a national treasure, and is right where she needs to be on this poster.

Then put em up, national treasure my ass, she’s overrated. Maybe if she was with Robert Plant, then I could see her heading, by herself nah. Plant carried her

It looks like we disagree on this subject and I’m happy to move on.
Feel free to have the last word, it seems like you need that.

Alison Krauss has Every Business, headlining.
Look beyond your hate.
Challenge you to actually go to this festival, experience Alison.

Hate has nothing to do with it, she ain’t that good and she’s overrated

I’m surprised to hear this opinion given her near-legendary status. Platinum selling record collaboration with Robert Plant and contribution to O Brother Where Art Thou? soundtrack. 27 Grammy awards. Has been active in the genre since 1984. What is the argument for her not being headliner quality?

Legendary my ass, she’s full of it and overrated.

Whatever! She is absolutely where she belongs. If you can’t say anything nice, please keep u your comments to yourself. Because opinions are like assholes, everyone has 1.

Yeah, why would one of the most iconic and beloved American bluegrass artists of the last 30 years be asked to headline arguably America’s premier bluegrass festival?
Get over yourself, man.

She ain’t bluegrass she’s pop country, overrated

You’re high Richard Fox. You should do your research online. Overrated is an opinion. “She ain’t bluegrass she’s pop country” is empirically false. Tell us you only know her through “When You Say Nothing At All” without telling us.

Seems like it has been quite a long while since Kasey Chambers last visited the U.S. Hope she makes some other stops while she’s on this side of the planet again.

Can’t afford Billy?

Billy’s great, but many Billy fans have become an annoyance. ..with a somewhat dark edge.
A youngster with equal chops and a beautiful bluegrass voice, Zach Top on Sunday evening will be special.

It’s an impressive lineup. Some of the very best in trad grass and even jam- grass is well represented. Good to see Welch and Rawlings back at it. I’m sure Alison’s set will be great, they have Russell Moore now to keep the trad grass in the mix , very much like Dan T did.
I don’t get the addition of Ol Isbell or Lake Street Dive, neither are even remotely grass, but such is life. Could be a good excuse to venture out to the town and sightsee.
Overall though, looks like a spectacular event. Guessing there will be a Kyle Coroneos there to tell the story in pics and words!

Every year the Telluride Bluegrass Festival has a few traditional country and Americana acts, no different than some traditional country and Americana fests might have some bluegrass acts. Lat year Lyle Lovett and Charley Crockett were headliners. Jason Isbell is obviously a massive name in Americana, and Lake Street Dive has blown up something fierce the last few years. I’m actually surprised Lake Street Dive is playing a festival this size because they’re at the amphitheater/arena level at this point.
You add Zach Top, and that’s a pretty good non-bluegrass crop for Telluride in 2024.
