The Ameripolitan Awards Announce 2019 Nominees

The Ameripolitan Awards are gearing up for another installment in 2019, set to take place for a second year in a row in Memphis, Tennessee after its first few years in Austin. With pre-parties set to transpire the weekend before, the 2019 Ameripolitan Awards will be held once again at the Guesthouse at Graceland on Monday, February 25th.
“After such an amazing experience fans and artists alike had in Memphis this year, it was a no-brainer to stay in Memphis for 2019,” says Ameripolitan founder Dale Watson. “The city of Memphis has welcomed the Ameripolitan Awards and its showcases with open arms and we truly feel the appreciation. We want to give back in that regard, and that’s why the 2019 event will have showcases featured all over Memphis, so the fans and artists can get out and experience this great city and its musical history.”
One change is the awards will be moved from the ballroom at the Guesthouse at Graceland to the Guesthouse theater—a 464-seat venue that will be more similar to the setup at the Paramount Theater in Austin from previous years.
Ahead of the awards, the nominees in 13 separate categories have been announced over the past few days via Ameripolitan’s social media feeds. Ameripolitan is still waiting to finalize the last few categories before opening voting. One significant change from previous years is each category only has four nominees instead of five.
Founded by Dale Watson after the “Old Farts & Jackasses” comments of Blake Shelton, the Ameripolitan Awards is Dale Watson’s effort to keep roots traditions alive and celebrate artists going unrecognized by the rest of the country music industry. Since the inaugural year, the awards have grown from a ballroom in a hotel in Austin, to Austin’s Paramount where people from around the country travel to take part in the festivities, to now moving to Memphis. The Ameripolitan Music Awards acknowledges “Artists whose music honors tradition while demonstrating exceptional originality, creativity, and musicianship,” and is a 501(c)3 organization.
Tickets to the 2018 Ameripolitan awards are now available for purchase.

Like Zoinks, Scoob. Who cares?
Ho many Americana award shows do they have?
I’m sure it won’t be televised…#Lame
November 7, 2018 @ 1:16 pm
It’s not an Americana awards show and anyone who listens to pop country should find another life!!???? Oh yeah, Garth Brooks ????
October 1, 2018 @ 7:30 pm
Nice seeing Southgate House getting some love as a top venue. It’s completely underrated.

They are underrated. … since i never heard of them before… #Sad
If u recommend them, I be sure to give them a listen. Is their music only on the online spotify? I strictly only listen to cassette tapes. I’m glad Garth Brooks hasn’t sold out via online, and still provides fans with cassettes.

Southgate House is a venue, not a band.
October 1, 2018 @ 9:27 pm
Well, I am uncultured. And a swine….
Teach me your ways, Trig.
Sincerely,
Arnold (formerly of Hey Arnold)

Seriously dude….take your meds.
October 2, 2018 @ 2:50 pm
@ Bill,
Seriously? I thought it was a band at first…. Never heard of that venue because its probably not even close to where I live.
My favorite venue is the Bank of Pavilion – you probably never heard of it.
So many Pop Country bands are taking on bizarre names …. like LANCO and Old Dominion ,etc. …. Easy mistake, anything goes these days with band names.

I’m having iPhone issues when accessing SCM. When I’m scrolling downward and let up, it will race back to the top of the page and magnify in size. It might be isolated to me. Last time I recall you asking for a heads up.

Glad to see Robert’s Western World nominated … my favourite bar in the whole world!!
October 2, 2018 @ 1:58 am
Where’s Joshua Hedley?
October 2, 2018 @ 3:19 am
He was the fifth nominated singer…but with only four nominees…well…maybe next year.
October 3, 2018 @ 9:50 pm
His record was a dud. Biggest musical disappointment of the year for me. Amazing live though.

Mike & the Moonpies as “outlaw?”
Have a hard time seeing that, seems like they’re a natural fit for “honky tonk.”
October 2, 2018 @ 2:29 pm
Agreed, but I like the fact that they’re getting any kind of recognition at all. Their album this year has been on constant rotation for me. So good.
October 2, 2018 @ 2:53 pm
They’re the funnest live band in all of country music right now, and their new album is one of the best all year. Mike and the Moonpies, Mike and the Moonpies, Mike and the Moonpies.
October 2, 2018 @ 9:31 am
Did not know Tommy Ash, thanks for introducing me to her. Love her album Sinner’s Blood, wish there was more!
October 2, 2018 @ 9:42 am
I scared my dogs when I yelled “that’s Dale Watson” during a Coke commercial.
Give all the shiny statues to Ray Wiley Hubbard, and thanks for the list of new music to check out.

“Nominations for the “Best Festival…” have yet to be announced”
Give it to Riot Fest 2018, where there was mosh pit for 83 yr old Jerry Lee Lewis’ nighttime set.
October 2, 2018 @ 3:04 pm
Casey James Prestwood’s Album “Born Too Late” was a great Honky Tonk album from last Year.
October 2, 2018 @ 9:33 pm
My thoughts are I need to work harder to promote and encourage Western Swing I see Wendy Newcomer and The Lucky Stars neither who any current releases

Sarah Shook?
October 4, 2018 @ 7:31 am
That was the one name I thought was obviously missing. Joshua Hedley also fits well with the Ameripolitan crowd.
October 30, 2018 @ 5:50 am
Sarah Shook politely declined a nomination for Outlaw Female 2018.
