The Outlaw Country Cruise Announces 3rd Annual Lineup
The Outlaw Country Cruise has just announced the lineup for their 3rd Annual voyage, and it’s a doozy. As opposed to leaving from Florida this year, the Outlaw Country Cruise’s Norwegian Pearl will set sail from New Orleans on its way to Costa Maya, Mexico and back, leaving on January 22nd, and returning January 28th. Sixthman is the promotional outfit behind the Outlaw Country Cruise, and also puts on the the Americana-themed “Cayamo” cruise, and other music-themed cruises. Renegade Circus also helps promote the event.
Announced so far for the 2018 voyage are Blackberry Smoke, The Mavericks, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle & The Dukes, Rodney Crowell, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Nikki Lane, Junior Brown, Dale Watson, Kinky Friedman, Jason & the Scorchers, Elizabeth Cook, The Supersuckers, Jesse Dayton, Bottle Rockets, Webb Wilder, The Mastersons, Sarah Gayle Meech, Roger Alan Wade, and Mojo Nixon. More names will be announced soon.
As you can tell by the lineup, the Outlaw Country Cruise very much defines itself by SiriusXM’s Outlaw channel, of which Steve Earle, Roger Alan Wade, and Mojo Nixon are all DJ’s on. Along with multiple performances by each artist, the cruise features artist-hosted activities, collaborative performances, autograph sessions, free meals, theme nights, Renegade Cinema film screenings, and “opportunities to hang with friends old & new.”
There will also be a “Crescent City Kickoff” pre-party on January 21st aboard the Norwegian Pearl. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit outlawcountrycruise.com . Ignore it, and Mojo Nixon might just hard cuss you.

Yeah, I made that point the first couple of years they announced this. But that ship has sailed, so to speak. Now this is one of these annual events that supports worthy artists and has a great lineup, and if some folks feel this is the best way to vacation, more power to them. But yes, there is definitely some irony here.

Not enough irony to spoil a good time. Have fun, Trig!

Please tell me that you are working on fitting in the Old 97s????
There are many Old 97’s fans that were coming on this cruise if they were on. Please re-consider???

For strictly research and journalistic purposes, maybe I’d take one for the team and accept a press pass 🙂

Who would be surprised by that? You? Buy a ticket?
Preposterous.

Oh please. See, this is why I can’t even make a joke. The personal sacrifices of time and money I have made to keep a website like this going would blow people’s minds, and the same goes for many of the journalists that cover music. Truth is I couldn’t afford to go to an event like this even if I had free admission because I could afford the time. If I’m not cranking out articles one after another and putting in 70 hours work weeks, the bills don’t get paid, even if I did getting comped tickets.

Jason & the Scorchers? Holy shit, might have to buy a Tommy Bahama shirt, and go on a cruise. Can’t seem to see them any other way.

Agreed. JATS are the band that kicked open the door exposing me to country music and cow punk. They are the shit and maybe the best live band I have ever seen. (Not counting Bruce).

Agreed on all counts! Jason and the boys kick ass, have been a fan for ever and a day. And, Bruce, well, no arguments there. Last show was Louisville, think it was 2011, or 12. Maximum enjoyment, missed Clarence.

Wonderful time if you go with them Trigger, who would not want to go on a journey like this, what a line-up and a different route from the other years. Lookin’ out for your review on this one.

The wife and I go on the legendary Rhythm & Blues tour every year. This sounds like a great cruise with great artists but I’m sorry Mojo is a deal-breaker.

But it’s just all in good fun satire, right Lester? Don’t go away mad, Studley. Just go away.

Cruise? Been there, done that, good to get your sea legs and see the wider worlds; I sailed with the Seventh Fleet as civil service, and being around boats growing up ain’t bad for appreciating heavy industry, btu now I’m just about the music and killin’ the devil.
