When singer/songwriter Zane Williams, guitarist Paul Eason, bassist Sean Rodriguez, multi-instrumentalist Andy Rogers, and drummer Lyndon Hughes first formed The Wilder Blue in 2020 (originally called ‘Hill Country‘), some questioned when they were labeled a “supergroup.”

Few if anyone questions that anymore, especially anyone who’s ever been in the audience of one of their shows. These dudes have more talent per square inch than perhaps any other outfit out there rolling down the road. A few years ago they were Texas music’s best kept secret. Now The Wilder Blue is becoming like the next generation’s version of The Eagles with their incredible harmonies and country rock sound.

Luke Combs knows this. That is why he booked him as an opener on his massive tour and appeared on their last album. In 2024, The Wilder Blue signed up with a big touring agency (WME), and signed a big management deal. But they’ve resisted signing to a label, wanting to keep all the control of the music independent and in-house. Now through fan-funded efforts, they are readying the release of their new album Still In The Runnin’ for March 14th.

“The reason we picked ‘Still In The Runnin” as the title, I think it’s a good descriptor for where we’re at in our career, which is to say we’ve still got a long ways to go and we’re still challenging ourselves,” Zane Williams says. “When I think about this album, it’s fan-funded and self-produced. We recorded it in three different studios all over the country, California, Texas, and North Carolina while we were crisscrossing the country on tour in 30 different states.”

Zane Williams penned the nine songs on Still In The Runnin‘ while driving the band’s tour bus. Though The Wilder Blue are probably worth categorizing as country more than anything else, with strong classic rock vibes and a host of other influences, you never know what you’re gonna get. “It’s almost like listening to a mixtape,” Zane Williams says.

The title track to the album was released in 2024, and they’ve just released a live recording from Red Rocks of the song, which finds a bit of a ’70s country soul vibe.

Still In The Runnin‘ is now available for pre-save.
